There are many types of allergies that appear in different people for different reasons. The main symptom of absolutely any allergy is itchy skin. Itching during allergies can appear as a result of the impact of various factors on the human body, therefore, identifying and eliminating the source of the disease will require an individual approach.
[ Why does itching occur with allergies?
As already mentioned, itching due to allergies, unlike reddened skin, swelling, watery eyes, runny nose, frequent sneezing, is considered the main sign of an allergy that has begun. Severe forms of allergic reaction to any substance can "spill over" into allergic dermatitis, the initial sign of which is reddening of the skin, the appearance of blisters, which, when bursting, leave a wet spot on the skin.
Allergic eczema is also accompanied by itching and various rashes on the skin. This disease is unpleasant because it causes an inflammatory process of almost the entire skin on the human body.
Itching due to allergies often occurs as a result of insect bites or the use of decorative cosmetics, which contain various plant extracts and all kinds of “chemicals” (dyes, fragrances, etc.).
How to relieve itching due to allergies?
Eliminating allergic itching caused by the use of a cosmetic product requires immediate removal of the cosmetics from the skin. It is necessary to wash the product off very thoroughly with running water. Then you should immediately take some anti-allergic drug orally, which can suppress the allergy pathogen and relieve unbearable itching. You can also use an ointment or cream designed to eliminate itching due to allergies. You can buy such products at any pharmacy.
If allergic itching occurs as a result of an insect bite, it is necessary to take some action immediately, for example:
- apply a grated potato or apple paste to the bite site;
- apply a cotton swab soaked in a weak solution of baking soda to the bitten area;
- dissolve 3-4 tablets of activated charcoal in a small amount of water, then apply this mixture to the bite site and leave for a while until the itching begins to subside;
- If you have ice or a frozen piece of fish or meat on hand, you can apply these items to the itchy area - under the influence of the cold, the itching will subside a little.
Under no circumstances should you scratch the itchy area - in addition to the fact that it will start to itch even more, you can introduce an infection into the resulting wounds.
Skin itching due to allergies caused by animal hair requires the patient to immediately leave the room where the source of the ailment is located. You need to go out into the fresh air and take a few deep breaths, then take an anti-allergy remedy, which every allergy sufferer should always carry with them.
The eaten product, to which the body reacted with the appearance of an allergy, must be immediately removed from the stomach, that is, vomiting must be induced. Then you should drink an anti-allergy medicine and, if the situation worsens, consult a doctor.
Not all people know "by sight" their opponents, which are the sources of itching during allergies. To identify the causes of such, at first glance, harmless ailment as allergies, you will have to go to a medical institution to see a doctor who will prescribe blood tests and other tests.
Often, allergy tests are carried out to identify allergens: several scratches are applied to a person's skin in the forearm area, which are then lubricated with special solutions. After half an hour, those scratches where substances unsuitable for a given person were applied will begin to turn red.
Itching due to allergies is a very unpleasant symptom that prevents you from sleeping peacefully, eating, or doing your favorite things, so you need to get rid of it immediately when it first appears.
