How to treat pulpitis using a biological method?

Conservative method allows you to maintain the function of connective tissue, which is filled with the tooth cavity. The most often conservative method is used for acute, chronic fibrotic, traumatic and serous-diffuse pulpitis, if there are no disturbances in the structure of the root canal. The damaged area is treated with medicinal preparations (antiseptics, antibacterial agents, proteolytic enzymes). After eliminating the inflammatory process, a special gasket and permanent seal is installed on the pulp. The conservative method of treatment has also received the name of the biological method, since it is shown exclusively at a young age, to persons with a strong immune system and good indices of tissue healing. If the pulpitis of carious etiology is treated by a biological method, this leads to infection of the canals in adults and the formation of a solid and dense deposit associated with irritation of the pulp, which in the future can cause difficulties in the treatment of root canals. Launched and complicated forms of pulpitis can not be treated conservatively. Contraindication to conservative treatment is the tooth caries of the tooth. If the conservative method is ineffective, surgical treatment is indicated.

How to treat pulpitis with the help of devital extirpation?

Affected pulp is removed from the dental cavity after treatment with arsenic or paraformaldehyde paste. The drug is left for twenty-four or forty-eight hours, sometimes for 3-5 days, depending on how many roots the tooth has. The devital method is used mainly in the purulent diffuse form of pulpitis. Contraindication to the use of the method of devital extirpation is the obstruction of the canals, the unformed roots of permanent teeth or the resorption of the roots of milk teeth.

Devital extirpation is carried out according to the following scheme:

1 st stage (first visit to the dentist).

  • Anesthesia with the help of injections or appliques.
  • Boron treatment.
  • Opening of the cavity of the tooth.
  • Drying the cavity with gauze tampons.
  • Treatment of the open cavity with arsenic, then - camphorophenol.
  • Closure of carious cavity with water dentin.

2 nd stage (repeated visit to the dentist).

  • Removal of dentin.
  • Checking the sensitivity of the tooth by sounding. In case of pain, anesthesia is carried out inside the pulp.
  • Treatment of the carious cavity with boron.
  • Opening of the cavity of the tooth.
  • Amputation and extirpation of pulp from the root canals.

After carrying out all the procedures, the root canal is expanded, medicated and dried, then an insulating liner is applied and the canal is sealed.

How to treat pulpitis with vital amputation?

Vital amputation is a kind of biological method of treatment and allows to save viable functions of root pulp. If the tooth comes under the crown, vital amputation is not performed. Before the procedure begins, the oral cavity is treated with antiseptic agents and an anesthetic injection is administered. Then the carious cavity is opened and expanded, followed by necrotomy. After opening the cavity of the tooth, only the coronal part of the tooth is removed. The remaining pulp is treated with a paste of calcium hydroxide and a temporary seal is inserted. The vault above the pulp is excised by boron, and the pulp is removed by an excavator.

Vital extirpation

If pulpitis is treated, applying vital extirpation, the pulp is completely eliminated. Unlike the method of devital extirpation, the pulp is not dead before it is removed. To strengthen the enamel and increase its resistance to tooth decay, the surface of the teeth is treated with drugs with fluoride, which also reduces the sensitivity. This method is indicated for various forms of pulpitis. Indication of vital extirpation is also the ineffectiveness of biological methods of treatment if the patient has no contraindications to the procedure, among which are infectious diseases, the last weeks of pregnancy, ulcerative necrotic stomatitis, etc. Before the procedure begins, anesthesia is carried out, after which the infected mineralized tooth tissue is removed and enamel. The coronal and root pulp is then removed immediately, the canal is temporarily sealed and a permanent seal is established on a repeat visit during the normal healing process.

How to treat pulpitis using alternative methods?

One of the means of alternative medicine is propolis, which is applied for twenty minutes to the affected tooth and covered with a cotton swab. This procedure allows you to ease the course of the disease and reduce pain. Rinsing of the oral cavity with a warm aqueous solution of propolis tincture also has an emollient and analgesic effect. To remove a toothache at a pulpitis also it is possible by means of rinsings by herbal broths of a sage, mint, a raspberry, chicory. Another alternative means used in the treatment of pulpitis is horseradish, which is rubbed on a fine grater and mixed with vodka. The resulting mixture is moistened with a cotton swab and applied to the gum in the area of the affected tooth. It should be noted that alternative means of treating pulpitis can only be used as an auxiliary therapy to reduce the symptoms of the disease.

To reliably understand how to treat pulpitis, if you have any pain in the area of teeth and gums, consult a dentist. Treatment should be started only after establishing an accurate diagnosis, so as not to aggravate the course of the disease.
