Prophylaxis of toxoplasmosis

For the prevention of toxoplasmosis, recovery of natural foci, treatment of domestic animals, restriction of contact with cats, observance of personal hygiene rules, heat treatment of food products, especially meat, are of great importance. It is important not to allow soil contamination on children's playgrounds, in sandboxes by stool cats. Domestic cats can not be fed raw meat. It is recommended that they be examined for toxoplasmosis and treated in case of illness.

To prevent congenital toxoplasmosis of all pregnant women who first applied to a women's consultation, it is necessary to examine the methods of PCR and ELISA. Pregnant women with positive immunological reactions, i.e. Immune, in the further observation and the more so in etiotropic treatment do not need. Pregnant women with negative immunological responses (non-immune) are considered to be at risk, since they can become infected with toxoplasmosis during pregnancy. They are subject to repeated immunological examination in the II and III trimesters of pregnancy. Preservation of negative immunological samples indicates the absence of infection. Women who have negative immunological reactions during pregnancy become positive, careful monitoring is established. When they have clinical signs of acute toxoplasmosis, special treatment is performed according to methodical recommendations.

Attempts have been made to prepare a vaccine against toxoplasmosis.
