Symptoms of herpes conjunctivitis
Primary herpetic conjunctivitis is often follicular in nature, which makes it difficult to distinguish from adenoviral conjunctivitis. The following signs are characteristic of herpetic conjunctivitis: one eye is affected, the edges of the eyelids, skin, and corneas are often involved in the pathological process.
Recurrent herpes can occur as follicular or vesicular-ulcerative conjunctivitis, but usually develops as superficial or deep keratitis (stromal, ulcerative, keratouveitis).

Treatment of herpesvirus conjunctivitis
Treatment of herpesvirus conjunctivitis is antiviral. Selective antiherpetic agents are prescribed - Zovirax eye ointment is applied 5 times in the first days and 3-4 times in the following days or interferon drops (installations 6-8 times a day). Valtrex is taken orally, 1 tablet 2 times a day for days or Zovirax, 1 tablet 5 times a day for 5 days.
In case of moderate allergy, antiallergic drops Almid or Lecrolin are prescribed (2 times a day); in case of severe allergy, Allergoftal or Sperallerg (2 times a day). In case of corneal damage, Vitasik, Karpozin, Taufon or Kornegel drops are instilled 2 times a day; in case of recurrent course, immunotherapy is carried out: Likopid, 1 tablet 2 times a day for 10 days. Immunotherapy with Likopid helps to increase the effectiveness of specific treatment of various forms of ophthalmic herpes and significantly reduce the frequency of relapses.
