A glass sample is an effective way to identify pathologies, chronic and acute, in the urinary tract. This method is especially important for determining the exact location of the inflammation focus. In urological clinical practice, two methods are used. There is a glass sample of two-port, as well as a glass sample of three-port. They are also called two-glass sample and, respectively, three-glassed. Both methods are applied to one portion of the material - urine.
The purpose of the method is a glass sample is important for diagnostic activities. In urology, especially concerning men, a glass sample helps to identify urethritis, tumors, localization and the focal zone in the prostate. If the formed elements are found only in the first container, then this may indicate a pathology or infection in the ureter or urethral canal. If a large number of impurities (leukocyte and erythrocytes) are detected in two containers, the glass sample helps to clarify the "territory" and the exact site of inflammation in the kidneys, in addition to determine the inflammatory zone in the ureter.
If the glass sample is carried out repeatedly, and the results remain the same alarming, this may indicate an oncology process. When pus and mucus formations appear in the last container, this indicates inflammation in the bladder, a microbial or bacterial infection, and similar mucous discharges indicate inflammation of the prostate.

How does the glass sample go?
Before collecting material, the patient should not urinate for five hours. Collecting a two-glassed sample, the patient in one urination fills two containers. First, not more than 100 ml of material is collected, the rest is collected in the second. If a three-glassed sample is prescribed, the patient collects urine for one urination in three containers at regular intervals. A glass sample of three-port is often accompanied by stimulation of an important male organ - the prostate gland. In this area, massage is performed, and seminal vesicles are also massaged. In the first two containers, a simple urine is collected, but not very intensively, to leave material for the third container. After the initial collection, an appropriate light massage is performed, and then the third glass is filled. Actually, the third, last portion is the most informative for research.
A glass sample is a serious microbiological method, despite its simplicity. This simple procedure reveals the activity of leukocytes, and sometimes the cause of the appearance of blood clots (hematuria) in the urine.
A glass sample is two-ported and three-ported - what's the difference?
In addition, that the difference in the number of containers, there are no special differences in these options. The only thing that a three-glass sample is needed for the analysis together with a prostate massage. In addition, a glass sample in three tanks allows you to more accurately determine the cause and the actual source of purulent discharge in the urine (pyuria). As a rule, pus and mucus appear after stimulation - massage, and settle in the third glass.
The glass sample is three-ported, more accurately a three-glassed sample, is one of the most effective elements in the complex diagnosis of chronic prostatitis. Such a test is also called the "gold standard" of clinical diagnosis for such diseases. A glass sample is an absolutely painless and effective method of diagnosis.
