In the ulcer-like variant, constant or periodic pain of varying intensity in the epigastrium or a feeling of discomfort are observed, often occurring on an empty stomach, at night, and decreasing after eating or taking antisecretory agents.
In the dyskinetic variant of functional dyspepsia, the patient is bothered by dyspeptic disorders in the form of heaviness, bloating, a feeling of fullness in the abdomen, heaviness in the epigastric region after eating, nausea, vomiting, and a feeling of rapid satiety.
In the non-specific variant, mixed symptoms are observed, and it is difficult to identify the leading symptom.
Functional dyspepsia is characterized by a long (many-year) course without significant progression.
