Rinsing the nose with Furacilin helps eliminate runny nose and such diseases of the paranasal sinuses as sinusitis.

Furacilin is a common medical antiseptic drug, it effectively eliminates bacteria and viruses, and helps to improve immunity. The spectrum of its use is quite wide; most often, the drug is produced in the form of yellow tablets.

Indications

Furacilin is used as an antiseptic in various medical fields. For example, an aqueous solution of this medicine is indicated for rinsing the nose and maxillary sinus, as well as for the treatment of sinusitis and empyema of the paranasal sinuses.

Washing the nose with furacilin for sinusitis

Sinusitis is a type of sinusitis - it is usually treated with various antiseptics and antibacterial drugs that can prevent the proliferation of bacteria in the nose. Among such antiseptic drugs is furacilin, which is also called nitrofural.

Furacilin actively resists a large number of gram-positive and gram-negative bacterial agents. Once on the walls of the nasal mucosa, it begins to interact with the bacteria that cause sinusitis and prevents their reproduction.

After rinsing the nose with furacilin for sinusitis, the symptoms of the disease are noticeably reduced - the pain goes away, the swelling decreases, and the discharge from the nose becomes noticeably less.

Technique

Furacilin has very good antiseptic properties. It is sold in several medicinal forms - as a powder, tablets and a ready-made solution.

The technique for performing the lavage procedure is quite simple. It is performed using a syringe. Before this, you should find out from your doctor what the correct method of performing lavage will be at the current stage of the disease.

The simplest method of rinsing is as follows: the patient needs to lean over some vessel, or a sink or bathtub, and turn his head to the side. The syringe needs to be inserted into the nostril. If the procedure was done correctly, the liquid that entered one nostril will flow out of the other. If the solution accidentally gets into the mouth, it should be spat out immediately.

After the procedure, you should not take a horizontal position for a short period of time. Each new rinsing procedure should be carried out with a fresh portion of the medicinal solution. The treatment course lasts approximately 5-7 days. Rinsing is performed every day 3-4 times.

How to make a furacilin solution for nasal lavage?

If you do not want to buy a ready-made furacilin solution at the pharmacy, you can make it yourself - from tablets of the same medicine. One of them must be dissolved in water. Since the tablet is poorly soluble in water, it must be crushed to a powder state. Pour the resulting mixture into boiled water (100 ml of liquid is needed) and wait about 1 hour. During this period of time, the tablet should completely dissolve, but just in case, you should carefully strain the resulting solution. After this, you can proceed to the procedure of rinsing the nose. The proportions of furacilin for rinsing the nose are 1 tablet of the medicine per 0.5 glass of warm water.

Washing the nose with furacilin for children

Before rinsing your child's nose with furacilin, you should consult a doctor - you need to find out if your baby has any problems with the respiratory tract (for example, a deviated nasal septum), because of which it could be harmful to him.

A syringe or a syringe without a needle can be used as a tool for washing. This procedure can be performed on children over 2 years of age.

First, fill the syringe with the solution. The child should bend over and take a deep breath. Then insert the syringe into the nostril and squeeze it gently, waiting for the solution to start flowing out through the other nostril. Then pull out the syringe without squeezing it until it comes out of the nostril completely. During the rinsing process, the child should keep his mouth slightly open and not breathe. After the procedure is complete, he should blow his nose.

However, it is not allowed to wash the nose of small children under 2 years of age with a syringe, since the fluid from their nose can easily penetrate into the Eustachian tubes.

You can wash the nose of infants using a pipette. In this case, the child is placed on his back and, holding his head, a few drops of furacilin are instilled into both nostrils. After this, you need to pull mucus out of the nose using a small bulb.

You can rinse your nasal cavity with furacilin during pregnancy without any restrictions.

Contraindications

Contraindications for the use of Furacilin include bleeding, allergic reactions, skin dermatoses, and hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.

Complications

Washing the nose with furacilin should only be done in an inclined position, and the head should not be thrown back. If this is done, the solution can penetrate the Eustachian tube, which may cause inflammation of the middle ear, or otitis media). As a result of improperly performed washing of the nasal cavity, this complication most often occurs.
