The appearance of a rainbow halo in the field of view
The appearance of even colored circles around the light source is a phenomenon of diffraction that can be observed at night when the source of ordinary white light is behind a misted glass; also see street lights, if at night they look through the misted glass of a car. Iridescent circles with jagged edges, changing shape, usually occur with migraine. But be careful with this diagnosis in individuals over the age of 50 who have not suffered from migraine before.

"Flies" before the eyes - is the appearance of small black dots in the field of view, especially noticeable against a dark background. These points move with the shift of the eyeball, but with a certain slowdown. The cause of this phenomenon is the formation of opacities in the vitreous. The bulk of floating bodies (floaters) consists of particles of the degenerate vitreous body of the eye. They are quite common in people with myopia, but also appear after trauma. These flying "flies" in front of the eyes irritate a person, but they are completely harmless, and over time this phenomenon passes by itself.
The sudden appearance of a whole shower of such "flies" in one eye, often accompanied by flashing lights, is due to the ingress of blood into the vitreous. In such cases, you should immediately consult an oculist, as the cause may be detachment of the retina.
Flaring lights before the eyes
This phenomenon can be associated with intraocular pathology or with migraine. In such cases, you should ask the patient if he does not experience a severe headache with nausea and does not suffer from migraine.
The slight separation of several compressed vitreous body from the retina (which often happens in people with myopia) may be accompanied by the appearance of both black flies and flares in the field of vision. In 5% of cases, it is the retinal rupture and its detachment. The damage to the retina usually occurs at the periphery, and it is difficult to notice; in such a case it is necessary to contact the oculist immediately.
