Duplication of the urinary bladder is the second rarest developmental defect after congenital absence.

Symptoms bladder doubling

A septum is registered, which divides the organ into two halves, into each of which one of the ureteral orifices opens. Sometimes this defect is accompanied by bifurcation of the urethra and the presence of two necks. In some cases, an incomplete septum is diagnosed, dividing the cavity of the organ in the frontal or sagittal direction - two-chamber. In these observations, it is necessary to differentiate it from a large diverticulum. The main symptom of duplication of the urinary bladder is constant urinary incontinence.

Diagnostics bladder doubling

During urethrocystoscopy, an opening is found along the urethra or in the neck area, from which urine is released. On an ascending urethrocystogram, performed in parts (first - when inserting a catheter into the area of the formed neck, then - into the opening located in the urethra or neck), a typical X-ray picture of complete duplication of the urinary bladder is determined. In this case, two urethras and two necks are detected.
