Diadynamic therapy is a method of local action by two impulse electric currents of the corresponding parameters, carried out by one of these currents, or by continuously alternating them through one pair of electrodes and moist hydrophilic gaskets (or using an electrically conductive gel), which are applied to the skin surface of certain areas of the patient's body.

Diadynamic therapy uses a current strength of 2-5 to 15-25 mA; pulse repetition rate - 50 and 100 Hz; the pulse shape is semi-sinusoidal, of the same polarity.

Types of current modulation:

  • half-wave continuous current (OH) - a continuous half-sinusoidal current of 50 Hz and pulse duration of 20 ms;
  • full-wave continuous current (DC) - a continuous semi-sinusoidal current with a tightened trailing edge, a frequency of 100 Hz and a pulse duration of 10 ms;
  • half-wave rhythmic current (OP) - intermittent half-sine current at a frequency of 50 Hz and a pulse duration of 1-1.5 s, which alternate with pauses of the same duration;
  • half-wave wave current (OM) - gradually increasing and decreasing in strength (amplitude) sending a current of half-wave rectification, frequency 50 Hz and pulse duration 4-8 s, which alternate with pauses 2-4 s;
  • full wave current (DW) - gradually increasing and decreasing in strength (amplitude) sending a current of full-wave rectification, frequency 100 Hz and pulse duration 4-8 s, which alternate with pauses 2-4 s;
  • short period (CP) - sequential alternation of a continuous half-sine current at a frequency of 50 Hz (OH) and a continuous half-sinusoidal current of 100 Hz (DN) frequency for a duration of the alternation series of 1.5 s;
  • a long period (DP) is a combination of the parcels of a continuous half-sine current at a frequency of 50 Hz with a sending time of 4 s and a smoothly increasing and decreasing continuous half-sine current at a frequency of 100 Hz with a sending time of 8 s.

The peculiarities of the action of diadynamic therapy are associated mainly with a change in the receptivity threshold for receptors of sensory neurons of various stimuli due to the initiation of corresponding electrodynamic changes in them. At a low threshold of perception by receptors of stimuli-stimuli (at a painful syndrome) influence by diadynamic currents promotes blockade of carrying out of impulses along afferent ways. With an increased threshold of receptivity of stimuli-stimuli receptors (a decrease in nervous excitability), the reactivity of the neural pathways is restored. Against the background of the main action of the factor, other processes of the vital activity of the organism, related to nervous stimulation, are mediated indirectly.

Main clinical effects: analgesic, myoneurostimulating, vasoactive, trophic.

Apparatus for diadynamic therapy: Model 717, Tonus-1, Tonus-2, Tonus-DT-50-3, DTGE-70-01 (multifunctional), Eter (multifunctional).
