Cysts of the larynx in most cases are localized outside its cavity on the epiglottis or on the root of the tongue, but may occur in the ventricles of the larynx and on the cherpalodnagortan folds.
On the vocal folds, small cystic lesions can arise as a result of the transformation of the polyps of this region.
What causes cysts of the larynx?
Most of the cysts of the larynx refer to retention formations formed as a result of occlusion of the exit passages and expansion and hypertrophy of the walls of the acini. Cysts of the larynx contain serous fluid of different viscosity depending on the content of colloidal proteins in them. Very rarely there are cysts of embryonic origin in the form of dermoid cysts, which, located on the pits of the epiglottis or on the epiglottis, are congenital. Cysts located on the vocal fold can be confused with nodular formations. Cysts of the epiglottis often take an ovoid appearance, are covered with a smooth mucous membrane, often permeated with branching vessels; the wall of such cysts is semitransparent, when palpated with a probe probe, the liquid content is determined in them.
Symptoms of the cyst of the larynx
Cysts of the larynx have a tendency to extensive growth without invasion of surrounding tissues. Symptoms of the cyst of the larynx are often absent for a long time, but after reaching a certain size and prolapsing in one direction or another, usually cause swallowing disorders (cysts of the epiglottis, cherpalodnagortan folds) or phonation and respiration (cysts of the vocal folds, ventricles of the larynx). Cysts contracted in the respiratory cracks can cause an acute attack of suffocation as a result of spasm of the glottis, requiring urgent measures but saving the patient's life (intubation of the trachea, tracheotomy).

Treatment of the cyst of the larynx
Cysts of the larynx are treated exclusively by surgical methods, the method of removing the cyst is determined by its size and localization (puncture, incision or biting of part of the wall, complete removal of the cyst by external access.
