Currants for gout help to avoid many troubles, as do some other berries (grapes, rose hips, gooseberries, honeysuckle, strawberries). Thanks to the special substances that are part of currants, they help prevent the accumulation of uric acid in tissues and joints. How much currant berries should you eat for gout? It is best to eat a large amount. If the currant season has not yet begun, you can use the juice from these berries. Thanks to this, you can reduce the frequency and severity of gout attacks.

Blackcurrant for gout

Blackcurrant is a medium-sized bush (up to one and a half meters). Its fruits are dark purple or black. It bears fruit quite abundantly every year. Blackcurrant berries are rich in limited acids, sugar, phosphorus, iron, manganese and potassium. They contain a lot of ascorbic acid. It is due to its rich composition that blackcurrant is often called a "home doctor". For gout, various tinctures or extracts are usually used, and a lot of berries are eaten.

The most common recipes with black currant for gout are:

  1. Take one tablespoon of leaves and add to one glass of hot boiling water. Put in a dark place for several hours. Then strain. Take the tincture up to five times a day, half a glass at a time.
  2. Grind blackcurrants with sugar (proportions 1:2). Eat at least three tablespoons a day and you will forget about frequent attacks of gout.

Red currant for gout

Despite the fact that red currant is not as popular in medicinal terms as its sister - black currant. It has been used in folk medicine for a long time. Firstly, these berries are often used to treat colds, as they help reduce fever. Secondly, red currant helps to cure allergy symptoms. Even if you just drink juice from this berry every day, it will help to quickly remove uric acid, bile, and toxins from the body.

Red currant also helps improve appetite, restore the body after surgery, and strengthen the immune system. The main recipe with red currant is as follows: take three tablespoons of berries, add them to one glass of hot boiled water and leave for up to four hours. Then strain and take 1/4 cup up to four times a day.

Currant leaves for gout

Currant leaves are often used for gout to reduce pain and inflammation. Usually, dry leaves or twigs are used to make tinctures, which must be crushed. Pour one tablespoon of the resulting raw material with a glass of hot boiled water. Infuse for about an hour, strain. The infusion is taken as an independent drink or with honey. Drink half a glass of warm drink three times a day before meals.

Despite its medicinal properties, currants also have contraindications. It should not be taken by patients with thrombophlebitis, if you have high stomach acidity, hepatitis or an ulcer. It should not be consumed during pregnancy.
