A hip injury - the injury is severe enough. Its complexity is that with a bruise there is no wound, this is a closed injury, the structure of tissues and organs is not significantly disturbed.

Causes of a hip injury

The essence of the injury is a bruised thigh in the damage to the blood vessels, which causes a hemorrhage in the muscle tissue and subcutaneous tissue. Bruising where there was a bruised thigh, appear as a blue-purple stain that changes color to greenish and yellow.

The bruise of the hip occurs when the soft tissues are heavily struck, for example, by a heavy object, or the person has fallen heavily, say, from a considerable height or when he ran at a high speed. Also, this trauma is common in road accidents, in production.

The most common injury to the hip occurs in professional athletes - those who engage in football, hockey, rugby, pentathlon, motorsport, etc. But ordinary people are subject to such trauma.

Symptoms of a hip injury

  • the hip increases in size and swells;
  • subcutaneous hemorrhage;
  • when touched, pain occurs;
  • The knee joint functions with complications and discomfort. There is pain in the bend of the knee;
  • a person can limp;
  • increased lymph nodes;
  • temperature increase;

Severe bruise of thigh

With a strong bruise of the hip, all symptoms are vividly expressed and intensified at times. Internal bleeding can last about a day. The danger of a strong hip injury is that it can disrupt the work of nearby internal organs.

Diagnosis of a hip injury

The trauma doctor examines the victim. If the hip is bruised, when the doctor presses, or the person strains the nearby muscles, painful sensations arise. If the sciatic tubercle is injured, the pain often appears in the back of the hamstrings. When the front surface is bruised, the quadriceps muscle of the thigh hurts. Pain can appear and passively when the foot is moved not by the patient, but by the doctor. The injured rupture crest pains during active withdrawal and passive reduction, the hip injury from the front is noticeable when the patient actively extends the shin and flexes the thigh.

More serious injuries require additional diagnosis. They make an x-ray, which makes it possible to see with what - a bruise or fracture - the doctors are dealing with.

Also effective use of magnetic resonance imaging. Hematoma, exfoliation of the skin and subcutaneous fat, muscle rupture, rupture of the joint lip, stress fracture of the femoral neck and other minor fractures that did not show the X-ray - all this helps to see the magnetic resonance imaging. It is usually used if the proper effects have not been observed from conservative treatment.

There is no special diagnosis for a hip injury. But when there are strong swelling (upper thigh, gluteal region), you need to make sure that there is no subfascial hypertensive syndrome (futural). In other words, that the injured muscles are not pinched in their osteo-fascial beds. To check this, pressure is measured in these boxes.

First aid with a hip injury

First aid is given as soon as possible and is aimed at stopping bleeding, because if large vessels are injured with a bruised thigh, it can last from several hours to a day.

The patient needs to be laid, lift the bruised leg, apply cold and make a tight bandage. Once the cooling dressing is heated, change it to a new one.

Treatment of a hip injury

Treatment of a hip injury can be conservative and operative.

Conservative treatment

Immediately to the bruised thigh, ice is applied and a pressure bandage is applied. No loads are excluded. As soon as possible, a person should visit a traumatologist. If the injury is relatively easy, electrophoresis is performed using Novocaine and Potassium iodide. The specialist applies a pressure bandage-sleeve. A week later, there are sessions of a light suction massage and warm baths. Physical loads are allowed after 10-12 days.

When a severe bruise of the hip is observed, after which the muscle tissues are damaged, the patient is identified in a hospital. Treatment is carried out by stationary Novocain blockades, which are repeated 3-4 days after 5 days. From the lower leg to the groin impose an oil-balsamic bandage. The leg is placed on the Balera bus (2-2.5 weeks). After removing the bandage, if the healing of the hip injury passes safely, the patient is able to slightly move the hip and knee joint, as well as walk on crutches, appoint warm baths.

Surgical treatment of a hip injury

The surgical treatment is addressed in the case when there is an extensive hematoma and fluctuation in the damaged site of the hip injury. The hematoma is opened, the removal of muscle detritus and blood clots. Do drainage of the cavity with a rubber tube, continue to be treated with symptomatic agents and antibiotics. Then the recovery time increases. A bruised thigh must be constantly observed by specialists in order to prevent ossification. Physical exercise is allowed after 3 months after a hip injury.

Alternative remedies for hip injury

To the site of the hip injury, it is helpful to apply cottage cheese, compresses from onion juice or a crushed bulb. Compresses are worn all day, several times replacing the contents. Another use of apple cider vinegar, which is heated, add salt and a couple drops of iodine. Wetted in a solution with a cloth wrap the bruised area, the top is applied ice and wrapped all with a bandage. This method removes even large hematomas. Table vinegar is effectively mixed with garlic. Two pounded heads of garlic for 0.6 liters of vinegar insist throughout the day, then lubricate this mixture with a bruised thigh. In the injured place rub the butter. Another method is the application of grated raw potatoes and fresh cabbage leaves, white bread moistened with hot milk.

A hip injury is a serious injury, so in any case, you should first contact a traumatologist to determine the severity of the lesion and make sure there are no fractures.
