Normally, there are no antibodies to protein kinase-3 neutrophils in the blood serum.

Protein kinase-3 is a neutral serine protease localized in the azurophilic granules of neutrophils. Antibodies to protein kinase-3 are most characteristic for Wegener's granulomatosis, in which they are detected in 30-99% of patients. Antibodies to PRK-3 are found in 30-40% of patients with limited or generalized forms of Wegener's granulomatosis during remission, in 70-80% of patients during the period of activity and in 80-99% of patients with active generalized forms of the disease. The diagnostic sensitivity of antibodies to protein kinase-3 against Wegener's granulomatosis varies from 30 to 99%, the specificity reaches 98%.
