Treating giardia with folk remedies is good because, unlike pharmaceutical drugs, they act more gently and softly. Pharmaceutical drugs are toxic and kill not only giardia, but also all the beneficial intestinal microflora.
Giardia are the simplest single-celled organisms, adapted to live inside the human body. They get there with food or water. In most cases, giardia multiply in the small intestine, but it happens that giardia penetrate the liver, pancreas and other organs.
Infection of the human body with giardia occurs unnoticed. Their incubation period is 1-3 weeks, and during this time giardiasis does not manifest itself in any way. But it happens that even after this they live in the intestines for many years without making themselves known, and they are discovered only by chance during an examination. But more often it happens that giardia multiply rapidly, stick to the walls of the small intestine, and this leads to a deterioration in its ability to absorb nutrients and a disorder of the entire gastrointestinal tract.
The symptoms of giardiasis are as follows. A person experiences pain in the pit of the stomach, then diarrhea appears, the stomach swells, gases accumulate. The stool becomes liquid, watery, sometimes foamy, but there are no bloody or mucous impurities in it. After a couple of weeks, the acute phase of the disease passes by itself, and giardiasis becomes chronic. If the body is exposed to other diseases at this time, it is weakened and giardiasis worsens with renewed vigor.
Children suffer from giardiasis much more often than adults. There are two reasons for this: firstly, children often do not observe the rules of personal hygiene, especially when playing outside. And the second reason is that giardia are very sensitive to an acidic environment, and since the acidity in children is lower, giardia feel very uncomfortable in children's stomachs. In adults, gastric acid dissolves almost all microorganisms that get there.
Lamblia love sweets, and therefore during treatment you should completely give up sweets and, on the contrary, include more sour foods in your diet.
Giardia spores (cysts) are very tenacious. Outside the human body, they can survive in a humid environment for up to 100 days. They enter our stomachs with raw water, unwashed fruit, or through contact with an infected person.
Treatment of giardiasis with herbs
The treatment is intended to create the least comfortable possible living conditions for single-celled organisms in the intestines and other organs, and this is what folk remedies are used for. These remedies are similar to those called anthelmintics.
Thus, for the treatment of chronic forms of giardiasis duodenitis and cholecystitis, herbal medicines are used that have antiparasitic and anti-giardiasis properties. These are such remedies as:
- wormwood herb,
- birch leaves and buds,
- tansy flowers,
- celandine herb, yarrow,
- shoots of wild rosemary, black poplar and pine,
- rhizomes of white hellebore, gentian and calamus,
- leaves and berries of actinidia, etc.
Treatment of giardiasis with folk remedies will give a good result if you follow a strict diet. As already mentioned, exclude sweets. Every day eat fermented milk products, fresh vegetables and fruits, preferably sour ones, meat (but in no case sausage).
Wormwood for giardiasis
Wormwood is a powerful medicinal plant and is very effective against giardiasis. In medicine, wormwood is used to speed up digestion, it improves the bile-secreting function of the liver and normalizes the functioning of the gallbladder.
Pour a glass of boiling water over a tablespoon of the herb, let it brew and drink a tablespoon half an hour before meals.
You can also use wormwood powder. Dry grass is finely chopped and stored in a jar in a dry place. Take half a tablespoon 40 minutes before meals twice a day, washing it down with plenty of water. To make it less bitter, you can add a little honey.
Wormwood is also used as a tincture. One hundred grams of crushed wormwood is poured with 0.5 liters of vodka. Insist in a dark place for 21 days. Drink the tincture twice - in the morning before meals and in the evening before bed. For adults, the dose is 3 drops, for children, 1 drop is diluted with a tablespoon of water. Take this for a month.
Giardiasis is treated with wormwood alone or in combination with tansy and cloves. But it is important to remember that wormwood is contraindicated during pregnancy.
Tansy with giardiasis
Tansy flowers are also used to treat giardiasis. They are collected when they have blossomed, then dried in a shady place. Fresh flowers can also be used. Tansy decoctions and infusions can activate bile production, improve gastric juice production, and activate the smooth muscles of the intestine. And most importantly, tansy kills parasites and pathogens. Tansy relieves all gastrointestinal disorders caused by giardiasis. Tansy is very effective for this disease.
Tansy can be used in different ways. The dried flowers can be ground into powder and taken half a teaspoon at night for a week. In the morning, take a laxative to quickly remove parasites from the body.
Or insist a tablespoon of flower baskets for 4 hours, pouring them with two glasses of warm boiled water in a covered vessel. Take half a glass 2-3 times a day 20 minutes before meals for 3-4 days.
Birch buds for giardiasis
Birch buds contain substances, flavonoids and phytoncides, which kill many microorganisms. But birch buds need to be harvested correctly. Then they have many healing properties.
Birch buds have anthelmintic and choleretic effects. Birch buds have a specific bitterness, which eliminates many intestinal parasites.
For this, a decoction of birch buds is used. It is prepared as follows. Ten grams of buds (approximately 5-6 pieces) are poured with 0.2 liters of hot water. Then boil for 15 minutes, after which cool and filter. If you take such a decoction for 2-3 weeks, an environment is formed in which lamblia cysts are destroyed.
Homeopathy for Giardiasis
Statistics tell us that the effectiveness of treating giardiasis in children with homeopathic remedies is 90%. But this treatment has its own characteristics. It is much longer in itself, and it takes a lot of time to select the right medicine. The initial course of treatment is one month, how the treatment will go further depends on the results of the tests. But, in any case, homeopathic remedies do not cause the child's body the harm that drug treatment does. In addition, it has no side effects.
The drugs are prescribed strictly individually. These may be the following drugs:
- Chelidonium,
- Staphysagria,
- Mercury,
- Solubilis,
- Taraxacum and others.
Which remedy to use and for how long can only be determined by a homeopathic doctor.
Oil for giardiasis
When treating giardiasis, vegetable oils such as olive, sunflower, and linseed are used. This is due to the fact that the oils prevent the reproduction of giardia. At the beginning of the treatment, parasites are eliminated. This takes from 2 to 4 weeks. The best and most proven folk remedy is the flowers of common tansy. Every evening for a week before going to bed, you need to chew 3-5 flowers of tansy for 2-5 minutes, washing them down with warm water. And in the morning on an empty stomach, you need to drink linseed, pumpkin, or watermelon oil.
Bergamot oil can also be used very effectively against giardia. It is used as follows: 2-3 drops are dripped onto sugar or honey and eaten. This method is best used for adults, because children have difficulty eating this mixture.
A good effect is given by the oil extract of cloves. Spicy cloves are mixed with sunflower oil in a 1:1 ratio, poured into a dark glass bottle and infused for 10 days. Then, for two weeks, drink 40 ml of warm oil on an empty stomach.
You can also use a mixture of sunflower oil, beets and horseradish for treatment. Raw beets and horseradish are grated and mixed with sunflower oil in a 1:1 ratio. Then leave for 3 hours. This mixture is taken one tablespoon 20 minutes before meals. Vegetable oils can also be used for salad dressing.
But the use of animal fats should be avoided. They provoke the release of bile into the intestines, it changes the acidity and the conditions become more favorable for lamblia.
Tar for giardiasis
Tar can also be used to treat giardiasis. There are two ways. The first way is this. On the first day, add 1 drop of tar to 0.5 glass of water and drink this solution on an empty stomach in the morning. The next day, increase the dose to two drops. Increasing the dose every day by 1 drop, bring it to 10 drops, and then reduce it by one drop per day.
The second method is a tar sandwich. Its taste, of course, does not bring pleasure, but it perfectly treats giardiasis in children and adults. Spread a thin layer of pharmacy tar on bread and eat it every morning on an empty stomach for 3-4 days in a row.

Garlic enemas are also used. To do this, crushed garlic is poured with hot water and infused. When the infusion cools, it is used to wash the intestines.
Cabbage for giardiasis
All known varieties of cabbage are suitable for a diet for giardiasis. And sauerkraut is irreplaceable for restoring organic processes that were disrupted by giardia. It contains a large amount of provitamin C, lactic acid, important macro- and microelements. Two or three times a day, you need to eat 100-200 grams of sauerkraut separately from other food. You can also drink cabbage brine. Take 100-150 grams 15-20 minutes before meals for a month. Sometimes the course of such treatment needs to be repeated after 2-3 weeks. The brine should be warm. You can also mix it with the same amount of tomato juice. Such a course of treatment will normalize digestion, which was disrupted by giardia.
