Allergic to the paint can appear both with its direct contact with the skin, and with the inhalation of chemicals that make up its composition. Most often there is an allergy to hair dye, as well as various means for dyeing eyebrows, eyelashes.
There are also cases of allergies to oil paints and paints for walls. When inhaled harmful chemicals present in the dye composition, individual intolerance of the organism may manifest itself in the form of various side effects. In direct contact of the dye with the skin, unwanted reactions can include the appearance of rashes, painful tickling skin irritation, hyperemia, redness, swelling of the mucous membranes, discharge from the nasal passages, lacrimation, etc. When using any kinds of dyes, it is necessary to strictly follow the instructions for its use , in no case should it be possible to allow colorants to enter the eyes. Before applying the hair dye, eyebrows, eyelashes, tattoo, it is necessary to conduct an initial allergic test on a small area of the skin.
Allergy to hair dye
Allergy to hair dye may occur with increased sensitivity to the substances contained in its composition, for example, paraphenylenediamine, which, if ingested, can cause severe irritation. In some European countries this substance is forbidden to use in the manufacture of hair coloring agents. Paraphenylenediamine is part of many colorants and serves to impart color to color after staining. If there is an allergic reaction to this substance, use only natural means for staining. Before applying any hair dye, you must hold an allergic test. For this, an insignificant amount of dye is applied to the surface of the elbow bend, after which the reaction is observed for forty-eight hours. If you have any unwanted symptoms, redness and irritation of the skin, itching, rashes, the use of such a dye should be discarded. In case you have an allergy when staining your hair, you should immediately wash your head, thoroughly washing off the residue of the coloring matter with plenty of water, and immediately take an antihistamine. After first aid, consult a doctor. Be sure to note that before dyeing on the scalp, there should be no abrasions, scratches or any other damage, as this significantly increases the risk of allergic reaction. Before dyeing hair, make sure that the dye is not overdue, and strictly follow the instructions for its use.
Allergic to eyebrow dye
An allergy to eyebrow dye may occur in the form of itching, congestion and redness in the eyebrow area, until a burn occurs with hair loss in the damaged area. It should be noted that for dyeing eyebrows in any case, you can not use hair dyes, for this purpose you should use specially designed eyebrow paints, it is better to do this procedure in the salon after an allergic test in the area of the elbow skin. In the presence of ophthalmic diseases, it is not recommended to use colorants for the eyebrows. Also it should be taken into account that when choosing a means for dyeing eyebrows, it is necessary to pay attention to its expiration date, it is impossible to use expired products for staining. Before you paint your eyebrows, it is desirable to apply Vaseline on the surface of the skin around the eyes and eyebrows, which will help protect it from burns. If the colorant gets on the face or eyes, immediately wash it off with plenty of water. Before using the eyebrow paint, be sure to read the instructions for use. In case of adverse reactions, consult a doctor.

Allergy to eyelash paint
Allergy to eyelash paint can occur in case of individual intolerance of substances included in its composition. Therefore, before you dye your eyelashes, you must hold an allergic test. On the inner side of the elbow bend, a little coloring agent should be applied and observe the reaction for a minimum of twenty-four hours. If the skin began to itch, redness and a rash appeared, it is impossible to use such a remedy. Remains of paint from the surface of the skin must be removed. When choosing a dye, be sure to check its expiration date, choose only a high-quality dye and follow the instructions for its use. In the case of using an unsuitable dye substance for eyelashes, a chemical burn may occur. Also for safety reasons, it is forbidden to use hair dye to dye your eyelashes. If the dye enters the eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water. If irritation develops on the eyes or on the skin, an antihistamine should be taken. If symptoms persist, consult a doctor.
Allergy to paint for tattoos
Allergy to paint for tattoos is relatively infrequent. Such dyes may include mercury, chromium, cadmium, cobalt, depending on the color. Allergy to substances used to give red color is more common than others. Before the procedure of tattooing, it is necessary to test the sensitivity by applying a little dye on a small patch of skin on the hand. If suspicious symptoms do not occur after a lapse of forty-eight hours, then this dye can be used for staining. If the allergic reaction to the paint for the tattoo is still there, it is best to ask for help from a specialist. If there is a slight local irritation, itching and swelling may appear, while scratching the affected skin, blisters may appear. If the side effect of the paint for the tattoo can develop dermatitis, the skin may appear eczema. If the composition of the dye for the tattoo includes paraphenylenediamine, the risk of developing an undesirable reaction increases significantly, so if it gets on the skin this substance is capable of provoking severe irritation. In some countries, its use in staining agents is prohibited.
Allergy to the smell of paint
It should be noted that such a concept as "odor allergy" is very conditional, since intolerance of odors does not involve the immune responses of the body. That is, in such cases, rather, it is about the hyperreactivity of the organism, not related to immunological mechanisms. "Allergy" to the smell of paint can be accompanied by symptoms such as sneezing, nausea, itching of the skin, mucous membranes, a feeling of irritation in the throat, runny nose, lacrimation, pain in the eyes. Since the immune mechanisms are not involved in the inhalation of odors, this eliminates the possibility of life-threatening conditions. If you do not tolerate the smell of the dye, avoid staying in freshly painted rooms. When allergy symptoms appear, you need to get out as quickly as possible to fresh air.
Allergy to oil paints
Allergy to oil paints may occur in case of increased sensitivity to organic pigments that are part of their composition. In white lead and silicon, as well as in yellow Neapolitan paint can contain zinc. To accelerate the drying of the dye, lead, cobalt, and manganese can be used. After the paint has dried, the harmful substances begin to evaporate and easily penetrate the human body through inhalation. In such cases, the body may experience hyperreactivity in the form of side effects such as irritation in the throat, sore cough, discharge from the nose, nausea. After using such a dye, it is necessary to ventilate the room well. With direct contact of the colorant with the skin, it is possible to develop an allergic reaction to the constituent components. The skin may develop a rash, redness, itching. In such cases, it is necessary to thoroughly wash the entire dye from the skin and take an antiallergic agent.

Allergy to wall paint
An allergy to paint for walls, manifested as intolerance to its odor, can be accompanied by symptoms such as irritation in the throat, eyesight, tearing, cough reflex, nausea. But since with the inhalation of odors (except for such allergens as dust, pollen of plants), immunological mechanisms are not involved, then, most likely, this reaction is associated with increased reactivity of the organism of non-allergic origin. In case of individual intolerance to the smell of the coloring agent for walls, avoid being in rooms in which such odor is present. In the event that paint is still necessary, it is necessary to take care of the respiratory and eye protection during the staining process, after which it is necessary to ventilate the room well. In case of non-observance of safety rules when using paint for walls and long-term stay in a room where the smell of coloring matter is present, development of undesirable phenomena due to inhalation of a large volume of chemical substances, including irritation of the mucous membranes, is possible. When staining, avoid contact with the dye on the face, hands, and other areas of the body.
