Reference values (norm) for the concentration of acidic alpha 1- glycoprotein in blood serum are 13.4-34.1 μmol/l (0.55-1.4 g/l).
Acid alpha 1 -glycoprotein (orosomucoid) is a blood plasma protein that is the richest in carbohydrates. The carbohydrate portion is represented by several polysaccharide chains attached to a polypeptide chain. It has the ability to inhibit the activity of proteolytic enzymes, change platelet adhesion, suppress immunoreactivity, and bind many drugs (propranolol) and some hormones (progesterone).
