In the feces the eggs of the following helminths are most often found.

- From trematodes (flukes) - hepatic fluke ( Fasciola hepatica ), fluke ( Opisthorchis felineus ), fluke lanceolate ( Dicrocoelium lanceatum ), schistosoma ( Schistosoma mansoni, Schistosoma japonicum ).
- From tapeworms (cestodes) - unshackled unarmed ( Taeniarhynchus saginatus ), throat of armed ( Taenia solium ), broad-taped ( Diphyllobothrium latum ), small ribbon ( Diphyllobothrium minus ).
Microscopic parasitological methods of laboratory diagnostics are direct methods for detecting helminths, their fragments, eggs and larvae of helminths; vegetative and cystic forms of pathogenic protozoa, the detection and identification of which do not require indirect methods of investigation.
To monitor the effectiveness of the treatment of intestinal helminthiases, the feces are examined 1 month after its termination. At the first negative result of feces investigation, sampling is carried out 2 more times with an interval of 2-4 days, after which the final result of the laboratory analysis is given out. In strongyloidosis, control of the effectiveness of treatment is carried out only in the study of bile (even if the parasite was detected by co-proskating methods) 1 month after treatment.
