To get to the beaches of the Dead Sea in its northern part, just 39 km from Jerusalem, and from Tel-Aviv you will have to travel two and a half times more.

Beaches of the Dead Sea: North Shore

Here, on the north coast, there are such beaches of the Dead Sea as Kalia Beach, Neve Midbar Beach, Biankini Beach and Mineral Beach.

On the northernmost beach of the Dead Sea - Kalia, located on the territory of the same name of the kibbutz and next to the archaeological reserve of Qumran, there are umbrellas, showers, fresh water swimming pool, and a bar and massage booths. The beach is chargeable, but parking is free of charge. Nearby there is a park of water attractions. For overnight, you can use the guest houses, which are managed by the administration of the kibbutz Kalia, or tents, located almost on the shore.

In this region there is another small reserve - Einot Tsukim, and on its territory there is also a paid beach of Einot Tsukim.

To the south is the paid beach Neve Midbar, where there are straw-covered umbrellas from the sun, changing rooms, showers and toilets, children's pool. You can rent sun loungers and towels. There is also a shop with products of the Dead Sea, a restaurant and a campsite, and near the broken tent of Bedouins and special areas for barbecue. In the southern part of the beach there is a separate area for nudists.

In the same area there is a paid beach Biancini with a green area, a swimming pool with fresh water and a swimming pool with natural curative mud. You can visit the spa center, which belongs to the local resort complex Biankini Resort Village, as well as a Moroccan restaurant.

Beach Mineral on the Dead Sea is also located on its northern coast - next to the kibbutz Mitzpe Shalem. This paid beach, which operates from 9:00 to 17:00 (Friday and Saturday from 8:00), is considered one of the most manicured beaches on the Dead Sea in Israel.

In addition to the amenities that other Dead Sea beaches have, there is a swimming pool with thermal hydrosulphuric water (with a temperature of 39 ° C) and a wellness center and various massages.

It should be borne in mind that there are no free beaches of the Dead Sea on this part of its coast.

Free beaches of the Dead Sea

Free beaches of the Dead Sea are concentrated in its southern extremity. Why? Obviously, the reason is that in this part there are the Dead Sea basins into which water from the north is fed by pumping through a system of special hydraulic structures (canals and dams).

The fact is that over the past 47 years the water level of the Dead Sea has fallen by 40 meters and continues to decline more than 100 cm per year. Already in the mid-60s of last century in the southern part of the salt lake completely dried up, so the water is pumped here ...

On this coast are the resorts of Ein Bokek and Ein Gedi. Free public beach Ein Bokek (Ein Bokek Beach) and located just south of the free beach Neve Zohar (Neve Zohar Beach) have sun umbrellas and showers with fresh water.

Not far from the Ein Gedi reserve there is a 24-hour Ein Gedi Beach with the same amenities. In addition, there is a restaurant and a free car park.

A wild beach on the Dead Sea is a conventional concept. For example, free recreation in the coastal zone is permitted at a distance of 0.5 km from the kibbutz Ein Gedi. The toilets and showers are provided for the rocky territory reserved for holidaymakers-"savages". Here you can (also not for free) put a tent. By the way, almost all free beaches of the Dead Sea provide this opportunity.
