Etiotropic treatment of strongyloidiasis is carried out with anthelmintic drugs. Means of choice - albendazole. Carbendacim. An alternative medicine is mebendazole.

  • Albendazole is prescribed in a daily dose of 400-800 mg (for children over 2 years of 10 mg / kg per day) in 1-2 doses for 3 days, with intensive infestation - up to 5 days.
  • Carbendacim is recommended by mouth at a dose of 10 mg / kg per day for 3-5 days.
  • Mebendazole is shown inside after a meal of 10 mg / kg per day in 3 doses for 3-5 days.

Antiparasitic treatment of strongyloidosis is carried out against the background of taking antihistamines. Use of glucocorticoids is not recommended. Pathogenetic and symptomatic treatment of strongyloidiasis depends on the severity of the course of the disease and disorders in the activity of organs and systems.

With the effective treatment of strongyloidosis, a temporary increase (at a low baseline level) or a significant decrease (with a high baseline level) of eosinophilia of the blood is possible. Skin itching, exanthema, arthralgia disappear soon after treatment.

Monitoring of the effectiveness of treatment of patients with strongyloidiasis is carried out immediately after the end of treatment and a month later. To do this, the stool is examined three times with an interval of 1-2 days for the presence of S. Stercoralis larvae by appropriate methods. In doubtful cases, it is advisable to examine duodenal contents.

For patients receiving immunosuppressive therapy, even with negative control tests after effective treatment, it is advisable to carry out monthly preventive antiparasitic treatment of strongyloidiasis with the aforementioned preparations in a half-dose for 2 days.
