Pain in the pelvis in women
Pain in the pelvis can occur in many cases. One of the most common causes of pelvic pain are various injuries and bruises in this area. Inflammation in the tendons or joints of the pelvic department can also cause discomfort in the form of painful sensations. In addition, there are a number of diseases and syndromes, which in most cases signal their presence in the human body is pain in the pelvis.
The syndrome of chronic pain in the pelvis (most often it affects women) manifests itself as follows: a woman gets trouble pains in the pelvic region, at the bottom of the back, along the abdominal wall down from the navel. Such pain can be completely unpredictable, unrelated to menstrual cycles and can be felt for a long time - from six months and longer. Such a pain syndrome in women can be caused by the following reasons:
- Urology problems: bladder cancer, chronic and acute cystitis, urethral syndrome, urethriocele, urethral diverticulum, urolithiasis, bladder diverticulum, chronic inflammatory processes in the para-urethral glands or urinary tract infections (such infections can affect not only women but and men - although they complain much less often of pain in the pelvis).
- Problems in the field of gynecology: the formation of adhesions, chronic inflammation of the pelvic organs, endosalpinia, various neoplasms (fibrioma, myoma, cysts in the ovaries, parovarial cysts, lymphoid cysts after surgery), cancer of various pelvic organs, pain in ovulation, dysmenorrhea, endometriosis, syndrome residual ovary (develops as a result of removal of the ovaries and uterus surgically), an additional ovary, violations of blood outflow during menstruation in the case of malformations, varicose veins of the pelvis, stenosis of the cervical canal, ndrom Allen-Masters, polyp cervical or endometrial cancer, the omission or loss of the internal reproductive organs, the presence of an intrauterine or other foreign body in the pelvis.
- Gastroenterological problems: chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, colon cancer, constipation, colitis, hernia, diverticulitis, Crohn's disease, irritable bowel syndrome (it is diagnosed if the intestine is swollen for a long time and this is also accompanied by stool disorders, such as constipation or diarrhea).
- Pathology in the muscles and / or ligaments of the pelvic region: myofascial syndrome (called pain in the anterior abdominal wall or other pelvic muscles) and fibromyalgia, during which there is also a spasm or tension of the pelvic muscles, abscess of the ilio-lumbar muscle, hematoma, or muscle strain in lower abdomen, ventral or femoral hernia.
- Diseases of the bones: ostiomyelitis or sarcoma of the abdominal bone, pathology in the hip joint, vertebral syndrome (some of which may refer to neurological problems) that can develop as a result of spine traumas, neoplasms in the sacral nerves or spinal cord, herniated discs or osteochondrosis in the lumbar spine, the cross section of the spine.
- Problems in the field of neurology: syndrome of chronic coccygeal pain (coccidonia), neuralgia, tunnel neuropathy, as well as traumatic tunnel pudendopathy, which arose as a result of surgical intervention (characterized by the retraction of cutaneous nerves in the postoperative scar).
Let us dwell on a problem such as adenomyosis (or, another name - endometriosis). Many women face in their lives with this unpleasant diagnosis. Unfortunately, young girls are increasingly exposed to him. What is this endometriosis? This is the name of the process of tissue growth, which in its structure is absolutely identical to the endometrium, outside the uterine cavity. This tissue changes during the menstrual cycle in exactly the same way as the endometrium itself. During this disease, pelvic pain often becomes chronic. In addition, they note especially painful menstruation and unpleasant, acute painful sensations during sexual intercourse.
Pain in the pelvis in women can also be caused by ectopic (tubal) pregnancy. But, it is worth remembering that in the early stages of normal pregnancy, the presence of pain in the pelvis is allowed. If such pain brings severe discomfort and lasts for long periods of pregnancy - it is necessary to consult with your gynecologists, as this may be a signal about the threat of premature termination of pregnancy.
The causes of pain in the pelvis may be other problems, such as pelvic venous congestion syndrome (this is the pathology of the pelvic vessels), porphyria, inflammation in the lymph nodes of the mesentery, or psychogenic pains (depressive or stressful conditions).
Pain in the pelvis in men
In the overwhelming majority of cases (and this is up to 95%), the syndrome of chronic pelvic pain in men is provoked by such a disease as prostatitis. Pain in the pelvis in men can be a consequence of both inflammatory and abacterial prostatitis. Accordingly, the treatment of such pain can occur only in conjunction with the cure of the underlying disease.
In the event that you feel a constant pain in the pelvis, which brings you a very palpable discomfort, you need to make an appointment with a doctor. Depending on whether you are a man or a woman, you should start with an urologist or gynecologist to investigate the causes of such pain. Further, if the genital problems are not identified, the diagnosis will be performed by a gastroenterologist, neurologist or psychiatrist. Well, and if you know for sure that such a pain has arisen as a result of a bruise or any other pelvic injury - then you need to address first of all to the traumatologist.
