Beneficial muds are nothing more than sedimentary and peat deposits of natural resources. Such muds have a complex composition, including a certain amount of water, organic matter and mineral accumulations.
The consistency of the mud resembles an ointment, which is successfully used for cosmetic and therapeutic purposes. Many varieties of such natural accumulations are known, but today we will consider the most famous and effective procedure: treatment with Dead Sea mud.
Treatment of joints with Dead Sea mud
Dead Sea mud is successfully used for procedures carried out in health resorts and mud baths. The mud contains almost all the microelements and vitamins known in the world, so its beneficial effect on the body and, in particular, on the musculoskeletal system, is enormous.
Treatment of joints with Dead Sea mud is carried out for traumatic and inflammatory pathologies of the musculoskeletal system, as well as for any diseases accompanied by impaired movement in the joints. Among the indications for mud treatment are:
- rheumatoid arthritis outside the acute stage;
- polyarthritis of infectious etiology;
- deforming osteoarthrosis;
- osteochondropathy;
- joint pain due to past injuries;
- pathologies of periarticular tissues;
- arthrosis, joint inflammation;
- fractures of the limbs.
The inflammatory process in the joint (arthritis) is a direct indication for mud therapy procedures, and this method is recognized as the most effective of all known ones.
At the same time, there are a number of contraindications for the use of mud therapy:
- acute period of chronic inflammatory pathologies;
- acute forms of inflammation;
- state of uterine hypertonicity and the presence of bleeding;
- difficulty breathing, emphysema;
- hypertensive crisis;
- heart failure;
- pronounced atherosclerotic changes in blood vessels;
- advanced mycosis;
- all forms of tuberculosis;
- scabies;
- cachexia and anorexia.
If you have any doubts about the possibility of undergoing mud therapy sessions, you should first consult a doctor.
When treating joints with Dead Sea mud, it is advisable to warm it up to a temperature of 38° C, then apply it to the sore joint, covering small areas beyond it.
After applying mud to the affected area, blood and lymph circulation in the tissues increases sharply. Tissue nutrition is activated, pain gradually passes, and joint function is restored.
It is important to remember that each organism is individual, and if the organism has an allergic predisposition, the mud application should be applied with caution, starting with a small area of the skin.
Treatment of periodontal disease with Dead Sea mud
With periodontosis, patients experience discomfort and excessive sensitivity of teeth. It becomes impossible to eat hot, cold, sour and sweet food. During examination, the doctor discovers atrophic changes in the gum margin and tooth structure.
The Dead Sea mud is effectively used to treat periodontosis. It has anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and resolving effects. This effect is due to the presence of most known microelements and organic minerals in the mud.
Application: heat a little medicinal mud in a water bath, or simply dip a bag of mud into hot water. The mud temperature should be 44-45° C. Place a mud cast on the affected row of teeth and close the jaws. Wait 15-20 minutes. Then remove the clay and rinse the mouth with warm, clean water. If you have little time for the procedure, you can simply rinse the gums with a mud solution (1 part mud to 2-3 parts clean water), but this method is slightly less effective.
Mud treatments should be carried out every day for two weeks.
Doctors recommend periodic preventive treatment of periodontal disease with Dead Sea mud.
Treatment with Dead Sea mud accelerates local metabolic processes and improves tissue saturation with oxygen and nutrients, has an antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effect, and activates recovery processes. The procedures can be carried out independently or in combination with drug therapy, according to the recommendations of a specialist.
