Treatment of diaper rash in children depends on the stage of inflammation.

Mild redness and swelling will go away in a short time if the skin is kept dry and clean, periodically lubricating the problem areas with baby cream. It is good to treat diaper rash in children with panthenol, which is converted into pantothenic acid (improves the regenerative activity of the mucous skin). In case of long-lasting inflammatory phenomena, treatment with medicinal creams Drapolen or Bepanthen is necessary.

If the inflammation on the child's skin develops into a pustular wound with numerous cracks and begins to spread over the body, then it is necessary to consult a pediatrician. The specialist must identify the cause of the pathology, as a rule, this is an allergic reaction or infection added to the inflammation. Treatment of diaper rash in a child in this situation requires the use of zinc oxide, talc, application of methyluracil/tannin ointment, and the use of ultraviolet radiation. In parallel, problem areas are washed with a weak solution of manganese, oak bark infusion and the skin is allowed to breathe. Diaper rash of an allergic nature is treated with hydrocortisone ointment (1%) with parallel administration of suprastin. Purulent formations are lubricated with brilliant green or methylene blue (only aqueous solutions).

Treatment of diaper rash in infants

The most vulnerable areas of infants are the genital area, bottom, thighs and skin folds. The skin affected by diaper rash looks overdried or, on the contrary, excessively moist, and may contain cracks, pimples and pustules. Moist skin is a favorite environment for pathogenic microorganisms; in order to avoid bacteria getting into the irritated area, it is important to carefully care for the diaper rash area.

Treatment of diaper rash in infants, general rules:

  • give preference to natural fabrics;
  • use quality diapers;
  • avoid synthetics;
  • maintain hygiene of skin folds, wash your child regularly (especially after loose stools);
  • use chamomile and succession solutions for bathing your baby;
  • don't forget about air treatments;
  • at the first signs of inflammation, use a weak solution of potassium permanganate;
  • The introduction of the first complementary food is a time of special attention to changes in the baby's body. Give new food in small portions to prevent allergies.

You should not choose powders, creams and other drying agents on your own; you should consult a pediatrician with this question. However, your baby's medicine cabinet should contain: lotrimin (ointment for fungi), hydrocortisone (1%).

Treatment of diaper rash in infants will depend on the type of rash found on the body: Clinical manifestations Cause/provoking factors Therapy redness in the form of a ring around the anus allergic manifestation (when introducing new complementary foods, mother abuses a certain product) exclude suspected irritants from the diet, mother should not rely on citrus fruits contact dermatitis - red pigment is detected in places of contact with diapers (waist, hips) reaction to the material of the diaper/diaper itself, detergent, chemical changes in the baby's body after taking medications (urine and feces are the strongest provocateurs) immersion of problem areas in warm, boiled water for at least 5 minutes, followed by ensuring skin respiration; use of hydrocortisone ointment intertrigo occurs in areas of friction of skin folds, such as in the groin area pain is caused by urine getting on the rubbed area treating the skin with petroleum jelly impetigo resembles a honey-colored crust (usually on the buttocks), formed when pustules merge causative agent pyogenic flora (strepto- or staphylococci) only after medical consultation; mainly with antibiotic-based ointments candidiasis (affects the genital area) can be suspected if diaper rash cannot be overcome for a long time; diagnosed by bright rashes with clear boundaries sometimes with blisters yeast fungi antifungal ointments seborrheic eczema is characterized by a huge red halo on the genitals, groin and abdominal area; the affected area of skin is swollen, thickened, greasy and dirty; pathogenic microorganisms are added to the diaper rash; treatment with cortisone or other ointments is only prescribed by a doctor.

Treatment of diaper rash in newborns

The delicate skin of newborns is particularly sensitive. When in contact with urine, it easily becomes inflamed. Also, the baby's skin can be infected with fungal flora after passing through the mother's birth canal, which is affected by a latent infection. Diaper rash manifests itself as bright spots in the genital area and on the bottom, rash, swelling, cracks, erosions, abscesses and other unpleasant symptoms.

Of course, it is better to prevent inflammation of the baby's skin than to treat diaper rash. Parents should remember that the baby's skin has fewer sebaceous ducts, so you should not overuse frequent bathing with soapy products. Wet wiping of the child in the warm season can also lead to negative consequences. Treatment of diaper rash in newborns is carried out immediately after the first areas of redness or rash are detected. The affected area is washed with warm boiled water and gently blotted with a soft cloth. Decoctions of chamomile, plantain, string, walnut, sage will help heal wounds, eliminate abscesses and ulcers. You cannot use any alcohol-containing lotions or tinctures. The use of talc can provoke diaper rash in newborns with sensitive skin. The fact is that talc in contact with urine forms an airtight film that prevents normal skin respiration. Air baths are the best means of preventing and treating diaper rash.
