What causes pain in the pubic bone?
- Fracture of both or one frontal bones, resulting from a direct strong impact in this area, or because of squeezing and displacement of pelvic bones. Such trauma is often received by victims in a car accident. In this case, the pain in the pubic bone becomes aggravated when trying to change the position of the legs and during palpation (probing). Similarly, the patient, being in a reclining position, can not raise his straightened legs because of strong pain sensations. If, in addition to fracture of the pubic bone, there are also blisters of the bladder, the pain in the pubic bone is also accompanied by a violation of the process of urination.
- In women, during pregnancy, the body releases a lot of hormone relaxin. Under his action, the pelvic bones and articulations soften. This is to ensure that the baby could easily open the mother's pelvis for childbirth during labor. Sometimes, with an overabundance of this hormone, with a lack of calcium in the body of a pregnant woman, or because of the peculiarities of the development of her musculoskeletal system, the woman has excessive softening of the joint, there is pain in the pubic bone, the movement process causes difficulties, ducking can develop. This disease is called symphysitis. Symptoms of the disease mostly disappear on their own after the birth.
- The pain in the pubic bone not always described arises during pregnancy. Its appearance is possible even after childbirth. The consequence will be symphysiolysis (significant divergence of the bones, and sometimes the symphysis rupture). This is typical for rapid delivery with a large fetal size. The pain experienced by a woman with this disease is very strong and they are felt even in the sacroiliac joint. The parturient should be at rest and with a bandage in the pelvic region. There is a high probability of recurrence of the disease during repeated childbirth.
- Infectious inflammatory processes that damage parts of bone tissue (osteomyelitis) can cause inflammation of the pubic joint if they have affected the pubic bone. Because of this, the symptoms of the disease are very similar to those that occur with symphysitis in pregnant women.
- Pathological abnormalities in the development of the pubic bone, when it assumes an elongated flat shape and prevents access to the vagina during sexual intercourse or examination by a gynecologist. With sexual contact, a woman experiences painful sensations, as a partner's partner exerts pressure on the periosteum and presses the urethra to the rib of the pubic bone. The pain is constantly recurring, in this connection, a woman tries to avoid sex.
- Pain in the pubic bone can overtake a man. In males, it is often associated with the presence of a hernia in the inguinal region. If the pain is disturbed in the middle of the pubic area, then, perhaps, chronic prostatitis is manifested. However, then the pain can affect the entire lower abdomen, lower back, pubic region, sacrum. Sometimes it is difficult for the patient to understand exactly where he is experiencing pain.
- If a woman's pain manifests itself to the left or right of the pubis, there may be a gynecological disease or urinary tract diseases. Pain is possible as sharp, sharp, and weak, pulling.
Treatment of pain in the pubic bone
Treatment of this type of pain includes several points:
- special gymnastic exercises, accentuated on the muscles of the abdomen and pelvic floor. For example, to perform one of the exercises you need to go down on all fours and, holding your back even, take a breath. Exhaling, the muscles of the pelvic floor should be squeezed and unclamped for 5-10 seconds. Breathing should not be restrained, nor should you move your back. At the end of the exercise, the pelvic muscles should be slowly relaxed. This and similar exercises strengthen the muscles of the back and pelvis;
- manual therapy (gentle). It has a soft effect on the muscles of the pelvis, hips and back;
- exercise is very effective in the water;
- if a woman is worried about the pain in the pubic bone, the treatment can be prescribed by a gynecologist. Symphysitis is a frequent phenomenon among pregnant women, doctors often face him, so the responsible gynecologist will advise the woman how to cope with the pain;
- acupuncture. This procedure allows you to get rid of the pain in the pubic bone not only women, but also men. The procedure is almost painless, but very effective. The only thing to consider when agreeing to acupuncture is to trust your body only to the doctor who has received special training in this area of treatment;
- consultation of an osteopath, chiropractic. These doctors are able to cope with pains of a given nature, so their advice will be extremely useful;
- wearing a prenatal bandage. This method of treatment concerns pregnant women suffering from pain in the pubic bone;
- percutaneous drainage. It is shown with purulent symphysitis;
- local injections of glucocorticoids, NVS - for osteoperiostitis;
- taking drugs that contain calcium.
Many pregnant women celebrate their relief after such an exercise as "lotus", or "butterfly". In another way, this exercise is called "sit down in Turkish."
In addition, dry heat, applied to the abdominal region, and also ointments such as Lyoton, Venoruton, etc., can help alleviate the pain syndrome.
Pregnant women should avoid strong physical exertion, often go to rest, stretching their legs, but also do not forget about the movement - despite the presence of pain, it is absolutely necessary to move pregnant.
If such symptoms are found, you should immediately contact a specialist (traumatologist, surgeon, urologist, gynecologist), since pain in the pubic bone can not appear without a cause.
