What causes pain in the first weeks of pregnancy?
- Hypertonicity, or contractions of the uterus. It is not an independent disease, it can signal other existing pathologies that pose a threat to the course of pregnancy. Discomfort is similar to that occurring during or before menstruation. Hypertonicity of the uterus causes a violation of the blood supply and oxygen starvation in the fetus, which is dangerous because it can provoke a delay in growth and development. The cause of hypertonicity is a hormonal imbalance, as well as inflammatory diseases, uterine fibroids, abortion. Symptoms: a feeling of tension in the lower abdomen, menstrual-type pain, irradiation to the lower back. Diagnosis: ultrasound, examination by a gynecologist, tonometry. Treatment: bed rest, elimination of stressful situations, healthy sleep, sexual rest, herbal sedatives (for example, sedasen), progesterone preparations, antispasmodics. All drugs are used strictly as prescribed by a doctor.
- Flatulence causes discomfort accompanied by tingling. Most likely, this is associated with increased hormone production. Increased gas formation may also be associated with discomfort in the navel area.
- Constipation. This disorder occurs due to fluctuations in hormone levels associated with pregnancy. Sometimes, along with abdominal pain, there is a burning or itching sensation in the rectum, bloating and rumbling. Treatment: a diet that includes fresh cucumbers, tomatoes, beets, pumpkin, apples, fermented milk products, prunes, and you can also drink a glass of cold water on an empty stomach. It is recommended to exclude tea, coffee, chocolate, and flour products from the diet. Taking laxatives and undergoing physiotherapy procedures is strictly contraindicated.
- Natural hormonal and physiological changes in the body. Pain in the first weeks of pregnancy is very often associated with the beginning of the process of abdominal enlargement, the shift of its center of gravity and softening of the ligaments, especially in women who have had painful menstruation in the past. Pain is felt in the lumbar region, often disappearing at twenty weeks.
- Bowel displacement. Pain in the first weeks of pregnancy is felt in the left side. Hormones can have a relaxing effect on both the uterus and the intestines. Frequent and fractional meals are recommended to neutralize unpleasant sensations.
- Gallbladder dysfunction. If you are bothered by pain in the right side, this is caused by changes in the functioning of the gallbladder. Increased bile formation causes a feeling of heaviness. In such cases, it is necessary to balance the diet, exclude chocolate, smoked products, etc.
- Thrush. This disease develops as a result of a decrease in the body's immune forces and the proliferation of fungi that cause inflammation. Thrush is treated with antifungal agents that are individually selected and prescribed by a doctor.
- If pain in the first weeks of pregnancy occurs in the mammary glands, this is a clear sign of hormonal changes. The breasts increase in size, become too sensitive, which leads to discomfort and pain. To relieve symptoms, it is recommended to wear a comfortable bra, preferably made of natural material, wash your breasts every day with warm water without soap, since its use can dry out the skin.
- Ectopic pregnancy. If the pain in the first weeks of pregnancy is sharp and piercing, the abdomen reacts sharply to touch, this is a very dangerous symptom that signals an ectopic pregnancy, bleeding may also open. This pathology requires emergency surgical intervention.
- Threat of spontaneous abortion. If you have abdominal pain and a pulling sensation in your lower back at the same time, you should call a doctor immediately. If spontaneous abortion has already occurred, bloody discharge appears, the pain becomes frequent and intense.
If you feel any changes and symptoms, as well as pain in the first weeks of pregnancy, it is strictly forbidden to engage in self-diagnosis and self-treatment, as this will cause irreparable harm to you and your future child. Before the birth of the child, it is necessary to visit the gynecologist at least once every two weeks.
