Hypohidrosis is inappropriate sweating.

Hypohidrosis due to skin damage is rarely clinically significant. The disease develops at sites of skin damage [trauma, infection (leprosy), or inflammation] or due to atrophy of connective tissue glands (in scleroderma, systemic lupus erythematosus, Sjogren's syndrome). Hypohidrosis can be caused by medications, especially those with anticholinergic properties, as well as by diabetic neuropathy and various congenital syndromes. Heat stroke causes inappropriate sweating, but this is a reaction of the central nervous system, not the skin. Fever of unknown origin is rare.

Diagnosis of hypohidrosis is carried out clinically.

Cooling (air conditioning) is used in the treatment of hypohidrosis.
