Etiotropic treatment of herpes simplex (herpes infection)
Etiotropic treatment of herpes simplex (herpetic infection) involves the administration of antiviral drugs. The most effective of these is acyclovir (zovirax, viralex).

Pathogenetic treatment of herpes simplex (herpes infection)
- Anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs - indomethacin, etc., systemic enzymes - Wobenzym).
- Desensitizing drugs - antihistamines and antiserotonin agents.
- Immunomodulators - interferon inducers (cycloferon, neovir, ridostin, poludan, pyrogenal, prodigiosan, etc.), antioxidants, probiotics.
- Preparations that stimulate regenerative and reparative processes (solcoseryl, rosehip seed oil, sea buckthorn oil).
In the treatment of meningoencephalitis, detoxifying and anti-inflammatory drugs, dexamethasone at 0.5 mg/kg are used. Dehydration, detoxifying and anticonvulsant treatment of herpes simplex (herpes infection) are carried out.
Prevention of relapses of herpes infection is carried out taking into account the localization of the process (labial, genital herpes), the frequency of relapses, the immune and interferon status of the body, which are examined in the interrelapse period. In the presence of disorders in the immune system, imunofan is prescribed at 1 ml intramuscularly every other day, ten injections per course. In case of deficiency in the interferon system, imunofan is alternated with interferon preparations (leukinferon). Natural adaptogens (eleutherococcus, echinacea) are indicated. Against the background of non-specific prevention, the vitagerpavac vaccine is administered: 0.2 ml intradermally once a week, five injections.
Approximate periods of incapacity for work
The period of incapacity depends on the form and severity of the disease. In most cases of herpetic lesions of the skin and mucous membranes, the ability to work is not impaired or is impaired for a short time (up to 5 days). In case of damage to the central nervous system, eyes, generalized forms of the disease, the period of incapacity is determined individually.
Clinical examination
Simple herpes (herpetic infection) does not require medical examination. Patients who have had herpetic lesions of the central nervous system and individuals with frequently recurring herpes need medical observation for anti-relapse treatment.

How to prevent herpes simplex (herpes infection)?
Prevention of herpes simplex (herpes infection) is aimed at preventing relapses of herpes infection through the combined use of antiviral drugs, antiherpes vaccine and immunomodulators.
