Salt poisoning is quite common nowadays. There are many reasons for poisoning: industrial accidents, domestic accidents, and suicides. Often the reason is non-compliance with safety precautions, storage of toxic salts together with food products.

Poisoning can manifest itself in different ways, depending on what kind of salt has entered the body, its quantity, how long it has an effect on the body, and even how it penetrated. A common feature of all poisonings is a pronounced local reaction, which manifests itself in the form of a burn and tissue necrosis, as well as severe intoxication. When ingested, it causes a burn of the esophagus, disruption of the digestive function. When exposed externally, the skin is damaged. The degree of damage depends on the area and depth of penetration of the salt.

Intoxication manifests itself as a deterioration in health, a sharp headache, pressure and pain in the chest and heart. Nausea and vomiting appear, and it becomes difficult for a person to breathe. Stool may be disturbed: most often severe diarrhea occurs. Vomiting can be exhausting and prolonged. Especially in case of poisoning with potent salts, which affect the digestive tract and damage the mucous membrane. Vomiting may be accompanied by blood impurities.

If the salt effect is not neutralized in time, bleeding may occur. If first aid is not provided in a timely manner, pain or toxic shock may develop. The main symptoms of shock are loss of consciousness, respiratory and cardiac dysfunction. A characteristic sign is the absence of pupil response to light. Damaged tissues undergo necrosis, a nervous or convulsive seizure, tremor or smooth muscle paralysis may develop.

First of all, it is necessary to provide first aid to the victim, neutralize the effect of the salts that have entered the body, and remove them. If salt has entered the body, vomiting should be induced. At the same time, do not give water to drink, since it helps dissolve the acid and accelerates its absorption through the intestinal walls into the blood, accordingly, the toxic effect of the salt only increases. If it is known exactly which salt caused the poisoning, and there is an antidote, it must be administered immediately. You need to call an ambulance and be sure to warn the dispatcher that salt poisoning has occurred, if possible, name which one. Then you need to provide the person with access to fresh air. You need to remove everything that can make breathing difficult, unbutton the top buttons, belt. It is important to provide the patient with rest until the ambulance arrives.

In hospital conditions, gastric lavage is performed. It is performed with preliminary premedication (pain relief, anesthesia, antispasmodics). Lavage is performed using a special probe until clear water appears. To ensure forced diuresis and alkalization of the blood, pieces of ice are used, as well as various medications. This makes it possible to neutralize the effect of poisons that have already penetrated the blood. For pain relief, painkillers and narcotics are used; in case of bleeding, cold is applied to the stomach area. If necessary, a blood transfusion is performed.

Only after the stabilization of the main vital signs, it is necessary to proceed to further treatment. First, supportive treatment is carried out, then they move on to restorative treatment. At the same time, symptomatic treatment is used, aimed at eliminating the main symptoms. For example, when pain syndrome appears, treatment with painkillers, antispasmodics can be used.

In case of pronounced edema, hyperemia, inflammation, antihistamines, decongestants, anti-inflammatory drugs, and other means are used. At the recovery stage, hemostatic, wound-healing agents may be required, especially if there is damage to the mucous membrane, a chemical burn.

When carrying out supportive treatment, infusion therapy is almost always carried out, which makes it possible to replenish the deficit of fluid and ions that occurred as a result of the action of toxic substances. For this, a large number of supporting substances are infused, for example, glucose, saline, Ringer's solution. They ensure the thinning of the blood, which thickens during poisoning. Neutralizing therapy and hemodialysis are carried out in parallel. These procedures are aimed at removing toxic substances and decay products from the blood that formed during the period of inflammation.

Restorative therapy is used after the condition has stabilized and the main processes have normalized. Various means are used to eliminate the effects of poisoning. Usually, complex treatment is used, which includes medication and physiotherapy. Homeopathic, folk remedies, herbs, and vitamin therapy are used. A mandatory condition is adherence to a diet. Diet No. 1a is prescribed, which must be followed for several months. Be sure to drink plenty of water.

Drug treatment

It is necessary to remember the basic rules and precautions that must be observed when treating poisoning. First, you need to neutralize the effect of the poison, remove it. For this, various means are used: gastric lavage, inducing vomiting, using antidotes. After first aid has been administered, there is no threat to life, you can move on to maintenance therapy, which is aimed at stabilizing the main vital signs.

After the condition has stabilized, rehabilitation therapy is used, aimed at restoring the body, eliminating the consequences and damage that have arisen as a result of the poison. It is necessary to strictly follow this algorithm and adhere to all the doctor's recommendations, otherwise serious side effects may occur. In case of poisoning, they are usually very serious. This may be a disruption of the normal functioning of the heart, liver, kidneys, the development of edema, a disruption of the composition and function of the blood. Failure to comply with basic precautions can result in death.

To treat the effects of intoxication and eliminate toxins from the body, activated carbon is used. It acts as a sorbent, collecting toxic substances. Subsequently, they are neutralized and eliminated from the body. Take 5-6 tablets every 3-4 hours on the first day, after which the number of doses is reduced to three times a day.

In case of severe protein deficiency developing as a result of severe intoxication, intravenous administration of plasma is indicated at 100-200 ml – 5-6 times per course. Protein hydrolysers (aminokrovin, aminopeptide, casein hydrolysate) are also used at 0.5-1 liter.

In case of severe inflammation, the use of anabolic steroids is indicated - methandrostenolone or nerobol 0.005 g twice a day in combination with prednisolone.

In case of infectious nature of the inflammatory process, antibiotics are used in short cycles (5-8 days). Levomycetin is often prescribed at 0.5 grams three times a day. In case of diarrhea and pain, atropine sulfate 1 ml of 0.1% solution works well.

Folk remedies

To eliminate the main signs of intoxication and poisoning with salts, use means aimed at binding toxic substances and removing them. A mixture that has absorption properties has proven itself well. For preparation, it is recommended to boil oats (a natural sorbent), drain the broth. About a plate of oats is mixed with 2-3 tablespoons of honey. Stir until a homogeneous mass is formed. After this, allow it to brew for half an hour.

Meanwhile, squeeze the juice of 2-3 aloe leaves (medium size) separately. Before use, mix the mixture again, eat a tablespoon of the mixture, washing it down with a teaspoon of aloe juice. I take it three times a day, when nausea appears - during each attack. If there is vomiting - after each vomiting.

The restorative mixture has proven itself well and is used to restore damaged mucous membranes, eliminate inflammatory processes, reduce contamination with pathogenic forms of microorganisms, normalize natural microflora and restore the colonization resistance of the mucous membrane.

The basis of the mixture is sea buckthorn. So, take about 100 grams of sea buckthorn fruits, crush in a mortar until oil appears. Add 2 teaspoons of sesame seeds and half a teaspoon of flax seeds to the resulting mixture. Mix everything. Separately, put one lemon with the zest through a meat grinder, mix. Add the lemon to the previously prepared mixture. Mix thoroughly. You can add honey to taste.

An aqueous infusion of mumiyo with the addition of herbs and oils eliminates signs of intoxication, relieves inflammation, and removes toxins. So, take about 2 grams of mumiyo as a base, dissolve in a liter of warm water. Take 500 ml of the decoction, add a tablespoon of stevia and nettle, put on low heat. Bring to a boil and immediately remove from heat. Strain, mix with the rest of the mumiyo (with the remaining 500 ml). Allow to cool and infuse, preferably in a thermos. Then add 2 tablespoons of sea buckthorn oil (promotes the restoration of damaged mucous membranes, eliminates the effects of chemical burns, promotes the healing of wounds and erosions). Stir, drink a glass twice a day. If nausea, vomiting, or a worsening of health occurs during the day, you can take an additional third of a glass for each attack.

Salt solution for poisoning

In case of poisoning, a salt solution is used to provide first aid. You can use regular kitchen salt, but it is better to use sea salt. It changes the ratio of salts and water, helping to remove salt from the body. Using a concentrated salt solution, you can induce vomiting, which helps to remove the poison from the body. To prepare the solution, take 1-2 teaspoons of salt per glass of warm water, stir thoroughly until the salt is completely dissolved, drink the entire glass at one time.

Vodka with salt for poisoning

Vodka helps relieve inflammation and normalize intestinal microflora. If there are pathogenic microorganisms, it kills them, facilitating their removal from the body. This helps prevent the development of an infectious process. Vodka also promotes the regeneration of damaged tissues.

Salt, in turn, helps restore the water-salt balance, preserves all processes, preventing further progression of the inflammatory process, prevents the negative impact of toxins, and also neutralizes the effect of poison, promoting active elimination from the body.

To prepare such a remedy, it is recommended to take about a quarter of a teaspoon of salt, pour about a third or half of a shot glass with vodka, stir thoroughly, drink in one gulp. A little salt usually remains, as it does not completely dissolve in vodka. Then pour the same amount of vodka, and after about 5 minutes drink again. After about 5 minutes, the procedure is repeated for the third time. Usually the first or second shot causes nausea and vomiting, as a result of which toxins are excreted, the third precipitates the inflammatory process, stops reverse peristalsis, as a result of which nausea goes away and normalizes the microflora, which is disturbed after vomiting.

Water with salt for poisoning

An aqueous solution of salt can be used during the recovery period to stabilize the condition, normalize the water-salt balance. It is used for prolonged painful vomiting or diarrhea to restore salt and mineral metabolism, since in this condition there is an intensive removal of salts from the body. To prepare the solution, take about a third of a teaspoon of table salt per 500 ml of warm water, stir thoroughly, drink during the day.

Sugar, salt and soda for poisoning

This solution is used to normalize the water-salt balance and restore normal microflora during the recovery period, after stabilization of the main vital signs. Salt has an antitoxic and restorative effect, soda replenishes the deficiency of salts and minerals, sugar acts as a nutrient substrate for the intestinal normal flora.

To prepare the solution, take about a third of a teaspoon of salt and soda and a teaspoon of sugar per glass of warm water, stir thoroughly, and drink a third of a glass. The entire solution must be drunk within 24 hours.

Chacha with salt for poisoning

The mechanism of action is similar to that of vodka and salt. Only the effect of chacha is much stronger, so the dosage required is smaller. It is enough to drink 1-2 glasses to normalize the condition. Salt acts as a sorbent: it attracts, binds and removes toxins. Chacha normalizes microflora and prevents the development of inflammation, eliminates nausea and discomfort. To prepare, take about a third of a teaspoon of salt per half a glass of chacha. Drink 1-2 glasses.

Additionally, they eliminate excessive urination, relieve pain and inflammation, stop bleeding, promote healing of the mucous membrane. They are used for nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, low acidity, spasms and pain in the stomach and intestines. They normalize kidney function.

To prepare a decoction, you need about 2 tablespoons of leaves and one spoon of fruits per glass of boiling water. To prepare an infusion, instead of boiling water, take vodka or alcohol, leaving the amount and ratio of active ingredients the same. Drink a third of a glass of decoction, infusion - 2 tablespoons 2-3 times a day. You can also prepare decoctions and infusions separately from fruits, and separately from leaves.
