In the ordinary human sense, the word dermatology is a science that studies the various structures and functions of the skin, mucous membranes, hair and nails. In addition, the field of dermatology studies includes the diagnosis and treatment of all of the above.

Dermatology pays special attention to the restoration of normal and healthy skin condition of a person, various oncological diseases, and also studies all possible processes of changes that occur with aging of the skin, fat tissues, hair and nails.

Dermatology helps to develop the latest medicines, decides whether it is appropriate in some cases, surgical intervention or you can do without it. This science is connected with another, no less important area of study, called venereology. As for sure everyone knows, the skin is the largest organ of a person. It is this body that shows the condition of the whole organism. In addition, the skin acts as a barrier, preventing the ingress of bacteria and the appearance of any damage. That is why dermatology sent her close attention to her.

Today, it is possible to meet a person through one person, who has various skin diseases. About 15% of all visits to the hospital are taken by dermatology, where the patient is carefully examined, and then consulted on health problems, which for some reason are associated with the skin, hair or mucous membrane, and after that they prescribe to him treatment.

The most frequent diseases in dermatology are: cancer, skin warts, fungi, acne, eczema, dermatitis. Despite the fact that the skin seems to be on the surface of the human body, however, its diagnosis and treatment is in fact quite a labor-intensive process. This is due to the fact that the diseases that fall on the skin, there is a huge amount. First, the patient is subjected to a general examination of the skin, due to which the initial diagnosis is established. Further, according to the process of the examination itself, such signs as pathological skin processes, character and general condition are taken into account.

In order to make an accurate diagnosis, dermatology uses various additional methods (for example, layer-by-line scraping or the method of diascopy). These include several laboratory studies, which include a variety of skin tests, radiologic, microscopic and histological studies.

To date, modern dermatology can easily achieve great results even in such severe cases, which until quite recently would have been considered completely incurable. The whole process of treatment is classified roughly like this: among all those innumerable basic methods, a regime is distinguished (the so-called skin care), followed by a diet followed by drug therapy (local and general), then physiotherapy, psychotherapy (this is necessary for the fact that most of the known skin diseases caused by all sorts of mental disorders).

In cases where old methods are already powerless, surgical treatment is used. In chronic diseases of the skin, resort therapy is used. Usually, such treatment is complex, including a set of various therapeutic measures. It depends on the nature of the disease.

Dermatology is a necessary and important science, both for medicine and for the person as a whole. Without it, the treatment process would be much more painful and time-consuming.
