There are many Dead Sea resorts located directly on its coast, close to the beaches.

The Dead Sea resorts in Israel include a dozen beaches that are located on the northern and western shores of the unique salt lake. The Dead Sea resorts in Jordan are concentrated on the eastern and western coasts. There are all the necessary conditions for a comfortable holiday: hotels with medical and SPA centers, clinics, sports complexes, swimming pools and restaurants.

Dead Sea Resorts in Israel

The Dead Sea resorts in Israel are spread along the Dead Sea coastline in the country, which is almost 70 km long. There are several resort areas with public (free) and private (paid) beaches.

Three kilometers north of the Qumran National Park (half an hour's drive from Jerusalem) is the northernmost Israeli beach on the Dead Sea - Kalia Beach. There are massage rooms, umbrellas, showers, a fresh water pool, and a water park. This resort area is located on the territory of the Kibbutz settlement Kalia, where there are quite comfortable small cottages for overnight stays.

A little further south from Kalia Beach is Neve Midbar Beach – a beach resort area for lovers of exoticism, since in addition to the usual beach amenities (changing rooms, showers, toilets, protective umbrellas, sun loungers, lockers and towels for rent), it offers overnight accommodation – in huts, a Bedouin tent or in your own tent for only 50 shekels.

And very close by is a small Dead Sea resort in Israel - Biankini Beach. Part of the local beach is occupied by mud pools, a fresh water pool and a SPA center with various health treatments. There is also a hotel complex Biankini Resort Village with 45 rooms (including 34 bungalows in the hotel format B & B with an equipped mini-kitchen). The accommodation is located 120 meters from the coastline, on its own beach. The resort is designed for family vacations (there is a children's pool, a zoo).

Therapeutic bathing in the Dead Sea, as well as its healing mud, are at the service of vacationers at the largest health center in Israel - the four-star resort hotel complex Meridian with 600 rooms. It is located on the western coast of the Dead Sea: from Tel Aviv by car you can get here in about two and a half hours, and from Jerusalem - in one and a half.

This complex has its own sandy beach, three restaurants, a cafe and a developed leisure infrastructure. The SPA center includes two dozen treatment rooms, an outdoor and indoor pool with Dead Sea water, mineral and hydrogen sulphide baths, saunas, massage showers. In accordance with medical prescriptions, massage sessions, balneotherapy, pelotherapy, physiotherapy, etc. are held here.

However, the best Dead Sea resorts in Israel are located in Ein Bokek. This resort is located on the western part of the coast, about 200 km from Tel Aviv and about 150 km from Jerusalem. Ein Bokek has more than a dozen hotels, and there are several hospices. Equipped with umbrellas and showers, the public beach Ein Bokek Beach is free.

It should be noted that it is at this resort that the largest Israeli medical centers operate: the Dead Sea Research Center, the specialized International Psoriasis Treatment Center and the dermatological clinic IPTC Clinic. They have a private beach for their clients - International Beach.

Nearby is the Dead Sea Clinic, a resort clinic that treats dermatological diseases and joint pathologies. There is also the Solarium-400 resort complex with residential premises for vacationers, its own clinic specializing in skin diseases, a beach area, baths, showers, etc.

Three kilometers south of Ein Bokek is one of the Dead Sea resorts in Israel - Neve Zohar. Neve Zohar Beach is free, and you can stay at the Neve Zohar hotel complex. After driving another 25-27 km, you can find yourself in the Ein Gedi Nature Reserve (in the vicinity of the Moab hills), in the immediate vicinity of which there is a free equipped beach Ein Gedi Beach. There is also the Ein Gedi Resort hotel and the Ein Gedi Hot Springs SPA center with six pools filled with thermal hydrogen sulphide waters from natural hot springs. The treatment center of this resort offers peeling with Dead Sea salt, mud wraps and other procedures.

Also among the resort areas on the Dead Sea in Israel are the paid beaches of Neve Midbar, Mineralny and Einot Tzukim, as well as the free beach of Hamei Zohar.

Dead Sea Resorts in Jordan

The Dead Sea resorts in Jordan are located south of the capital, Amman. Amman Beach and O Beach are about an hour's drive away. The Amman Beach resort area has fresh water showers, a swimming pool, free sun loungers, playgrounds for children, cafes and restaurants. And O Beach (two kilometers from Amman Beach) has a beautiful sandy shore, swimming pools, lounges, four restaurants and a wonderful SPA center.

One of the largest climatic resorts in the Middle East is the Dead Sea resort in Jordan Sweimeh, located 55 km from Amman - on the northern coast of the Dead Sea.

Here, right on the shore of the Dead Sea, is the Dead Sea Spa Hotel resort complex, which offers accommodation in four-star hotel rooms or in separate comfortable bungalows, as well as all the services of dermatological and rheumatological treatment in the Dead Sea Medical Center. The specialists of this resort provide: body massage, mud masks, ultrasound therapy, galvanic therapy, microwave therapy, cryo- and hydrotherapy. The center has a gym, solarium and indoor pool.

In addition, Svaymekh has 40 more international Resort & Spa hotels, which include high-class SPA centers with treatment rooms, swimming pools, mud baths, etc.

The best resorts of the Dead Sea

The best resort of the Dead Sea can be considered the Jordanian resort Mоvenpick Resort & Spa Dead Sea in the Sweimeh region (on the north-eastern coast of the Dead Sea), which in July 2014 was named among the 10 best resorts in the world by the famous American magazine Premier Traveler Magazine – for its unique for the region SPA-complex Zara Dead Sea Spa and the innovative methods of treatment used here.

With 6,000 square metres of space and 31 treatment rooms, Zara Spa is one of the most advanced in the Middle East, offering over 70 wellness and beauty treatments using the healing properties of the Dead Sea water and mud.

Dead Sea Resorts Prices

Specific prices for Dead Sea resorts can only be named in relation to the cost of using paid beaches. In Israel, it can be from 25 to 60 shekels ($7-16), and for children - on average $7-12. Plus about 70 shekels ($20) is the cost of visiting a mid-level SPA center.

In Jordan, entrance to a paid beach costs between 15 and 25 Jordanian dinars ($20-35)

And spa hotels in Sweimeh offer rooms from $105-128 per night to $245-280. Prices for treatments at spa centers vary widely. For example, at Zara Dead Sea Spa in Jordan, admission is free if a visitor books treatments for 100 Jordanian dinars ($140) per day per person.

Reviews of Dead Sea resorts

Most of those who leave their reviews of the Dead Sea resorts emphasize the high level of medical services provided by specialized clinics, and also note a significant improvement in well-being after sea bathing and procedures using therapeutic mud.

Many vacationers warn: the Dead Sea is very hot in summer. And also that for swimming in the sea you need rubber shoes (to reduce the likelihood of slipping) and that you should not stay in the water for too long (maximum 15-20 minutes). And, after leaving the sea, be sure to take a freshwater shower: all the Dead Sea resorts have taken care of this and equipped the beaches with shower cabins.
