Among the various medical procedures, an enema in the people is considered one of the most disrespectful. Perhaps this is due to not very pleasant sensations during the washing of the intestine. Or maybe the reason is that this procedure should be carried out in one delicate place, and it's good if this happens without the involvement of outsiders in the face of the medical staff. Still, the element of shame is inherent in each of us to varying degrees. That's only in some situations we just do not have to shyness, especially if you know that an enema with chamomile or other compounds can significantly ease your condition. Let's try to figure out whether it's worth not avoiding an unpleasant procedure, which, it turns out, can be of great benefit to the body.
Benefits of the procedure
What is an enema? This is a fairly easy and painless way to clean the large intestine of everything that is unnecessary, that there accumulated: stool, slag, toxins. It is clear that the cleansing of the intestine can be carried out in other ways, for example, with laxatives or enterosorbents. But will they be able to completely remove the feces and at the same time wash the intestine with clean liquid, as it is possible with the enema.
In principle, the enema implies such cleansing, when it is not necessary to administer medications into the body, but it is enough to fill the intestine through the anus with liquid. The liquid will help soften the stool and quickly remove them, washing the walls of the intestines at the same time. What can be simpler and safer than this treatment?
But why do you need such a cleansing of the intestine? First, it helps to remove from the body waste, which lingers in it for a long time, cause intoxication (poisoning) and deterioration of health. Toxins in turn are carried throughout the body with blood and negatively affect various organs and systems, thereby disrupting their normal functioning.
The metabolic disorder caused by the same intoxication does not allow to keep your weight in norm, so fasting and diets without cleaning procedures can work very weakly. So is this fact really not enough to help the body quickly with the excretion of feces if it is experiencing difficulties with this? In addition, the enema can reduce the burden on the intestines, if a person is suffering from curative fasting or at the very beginning of any diet.
Secondly, thorough cleansing of the intestine is considered necessary procedure before cavitary operations, childbirth and some diagnostic manipulations. In this case, even physicians insist on enema, considering it the safest method of cleansing the intestine.
Cleaning procedures with an enema can be carried out using both pure boiled water and medical formulations. Especially popular in this regard is an enema with chamomile, which not only cleanses the intestines, but also removes the inflammation of the walls of the large intestine caused by congestion or infection.
And this is not surprising, considering how useful the decoction or infusion of this valuable medicinal plant, known for its properties since ancient times, has. Chamomile flowers are a good antiseptic with a pronounced anti-inflammatory and some analgesic effect, the use of which is beneficial in a variety of diseases, including problems with the intestines and digestive system in general.
And the most safe way of introducing an anti-inflammatory drug to the affected area in case of intestinal diseases is an enema, which, depending on the volume of the fluid, will have an appropriate effect. To remove the inflammation of the colon tissues, a small amount of water is enough, and for cleansing from feces, lifting spasms and dyspeptic phenomena, it will be necessary to take at least 1 liter of broth.
The use of enema with chamomile is also in the fact that it can be without fear of doing even a newborn. And such gentle creatures need a careful approach. The medicine should not cause allergic reactions and irritation of the intestinal mucosa, which is characteristic of chamomile, which is considered one of the hypoallergenic and safe herbs at tender age.

Indications for the procedure
Yes, an enema is an ordinary cleansing procedure designed to clean the intestines. It can be curative or preventive, but not everyday, which can be performed without consequences every day. Such a procedure has its testimony to the conduct, when it can have a positive effect on the diseased organ and the body as a whole.
For example, an enema is considered one of the effective means of removing excessively condensed feces. The enema with chamomile with constipation not only helps to soften the lumps of feces and facilitate their excretion, but also beneficially affects the intestinal walls, which have been irritated and stretched. Chamomile prevents the development of inflammatory processes in the intestines with chronic constipation, prevents intoxication of the body, normalizes digestion, appetite and sleep.
Oddly enough, the enema with chamomile has a therapeutic effect not only with constipation, but also with diarrhea. The fact that the plant contains essential oils and tannins, which have astringent effect, plus with the same pronounced antiseptic effect helps to fight the infection that caused diarrhea and remove it from the intestine. All this helps to normalize the stool in case of stomach upset and food poisoning.
Enema with chamomile for diarrhea not only normalizes the consistency and composition of feces, it also helps to relieve spasms of the intestine and reduce its elevated peristalsis in diarrhea. Thanks to the anti-inflammatory properties of a popular herbal plant, the procedure helps restore the intestinal mucosa, which has been irritated and slightly inflamed due to illness. Chamomile accelerates the regeneration of organ tissues.
Large volumes of liquid are not required, because unlike constipation, the enema is used not so much as a purification, but as a medical procedure, for which a volume of a liquid of 50-200 ml is sufficient. It is also useful to take inside the infusion of chamomile so that the effect is complex.
Useful enema with chamomile and hemorrhoids, which is an inflammation and widening of the veins that provide blood supply to the walls of the rectum, with the formation of painful nodules (cones). When hemorrhoids have a good effect and sedentary baths with chamomile, and microclysters with decoction of the plant. These are enemas that use a small amount of water.
Enemas with decoction of chamomile with hemorrhoids will have astringent and disinfection effect. With the disease in the rectum, cracks can form, which can become inflamed and do not heal for a long time if they get an infection from stool. Chamomile reduces the likelihood of inflamed nodules and helps prevent constipation, which is very undesirable in hemorrhoids, and extremely painful.
Hemorrhoids are a disease more common to men, but the stronger sex has its own disease, to which women have no relation, but on family relationships it can be noticeably affected. It's about prostatitis, which is an inflammation of such a male organ as the prostate (prostate gland), caused by circulatory disorders in the pelvic region.
Since the prostate is considered an internal organ, access to it from the outside is limited. The easiest way to get close to the prostate is through the urethra or the rectum passing nearby. That is why enemas with chamomile in prostatitis can be included in the treatment of this painful disease.
This is again about microclysters with a quantity of liquid not more than 2 cups, which makes it possible to keep it in the intestines necessary for the absorption of useful components of the time. But by themselves, enemas with vegetable decoctions do not solve the problem, so you should immediately aim at a comprehensive treatment.
As for women's problems, the daisy has long been widespread in the treatment of the sexual sphere in the weaker sex. In gynecology, enemas with chamomile can be prescribed for cervicitis, endometritis, colpitis, adnexitis, whites, secreted from the female genital tract, erosion of the cervix, menstrual irregularities. In this case, the decoction of the plant can be used as a microclyster, introducing it into the rectum (which is the only possible procedure for virgins) and using for vaginal syringes. Such treatment will help and relieve soreness during urination with cystitis, especially if it is carried out in parallel with the sedentary baths.
But the inflammation of the walls of the large intestine, or colitis, is considered a disease that affects both men and women. Enemas with chamomile in colitis have 2 goals: facilitating the emptying of the intestine and preventing constipation, which are undesirable in any inflammatory diseases in the pelvic area, and cleansing the intestine from an infectious factor that stimulates the inflammatory process in it.
Again, the decoction or infusion of chamomile, used for therapeutic microclysters, penetrate the tissues of the affected organ and reduce the severity of the inflammatory process. They help to abandon the use of chemical laxatives, which only aggravate inflammation, and increase the effect of other effective drugs in colitis.
An enema with chamomile and slimming is used. But in this case we are already talking about a real purification procedure, which is better done with the use of Esmarch's mug, and take at least 1 liter (up to 1.5-2 liters) of liquid to allow the entire intestine to be cleansed, not just the rectal area . By itself, the procedure does not greatly affect the weight (it becomes less by grams corresponding to the mass of excreted feces), but it helps to normalize the process of bowel evacuation and adjusts the body to optimal work in preparation for various diets practiced with the goal of losing weight.
A couple of times a year, cleansing enemas are recommended for everyone who follows their health. If a chamomile broth is added to the composition for such an enema, it will not harm, but it will become a good prophylaxis of infectious and inflammatory diseases, and maybe even remove the beginning inflammation in the intestine, which we did not even suspect.
Preparation
Perhaps an enema with chamomile and is not considered the main medical procedure, requiring serious and thorough preparation. In most cases, the enema appears in the treatment regimen as an effective adjuvant, which improves the effect of using other methods of treatment. But since the effect of such a procedure is that even doctors confirm, then it makes sense to think about how to conduct the procedure correctly, and the preparation will help to avoid some mistakes.
For example, how many people know when to make an enema? If it is a purification procedure, then it is recommended to conduct it in the morning after the intestine is emptied naturally. And with diarrhea, there is no need to take care of emptying the bowels, everything happens by itself and even more than necessary. It does not matter the time of setting the enema, but you need to carry out the procedure after consulting a doctor if the painful symptoms do not leave a person for more than 3 days.
With constipation a bit more complicated. After all, with such a symptom of natural emptying of the intestine does not occur, and the enema has both a purifying and therapeutic effect, since is designed to facilitate the release of stools that poison the body. Usually it is prescribed after other methods have been tried to ease defecation: laxative tablets, suppositories, a special diet. The time of setting such an enema also does not matter.
But if we are talking about therapeutic microclysters in inflammatory diseases of the intestine, prostate, female genital organs, it is better to carry out the procedure in the evening so that the patient can lie first with the liquid in the intestine (several minutes), and then without it.
Enema with chamomile means the use of decoction or infusion of herb flowers. And this means that you need to pre-procure raw materials or purchase it in a pharmacy and prepare a liquid medicine, which will be used in the procedure.
To prepare a decoction of chamomile usually take 1-2 tablespoons of dried flowers for 1 glass of water and boil it for 3-5 minutes, then leave to infuse for another quarter of an hour. You can do otherwise by keeping the composition on a water bath for half an hour.
For infusion, you can take 2-4 tablespoons of dry herbs for 1 cup of boiling water, keep it warm for 10-15 minutes, and then leave to cool naturally.
When inflammation of the intestinal walls caused by pathogenic bacteria, the effects of a single chamomile are often small, so it is recommended to introduce other components into the herbal composition for enemas: calendula, yarrow, celandine, plantain, etc. But among the herbs, a particularly good effect as a safe antibacterial agent is precisely calendula. Therefore, with inflammations, doctors recommend enemas with chamomile and calendula, alternating herbs or using both plants in the same broth, taking them in equal amounts (1 spoonful of chamomile and calendula flowers per glass of water).
For cleansing enemas a large concentration of herbal composition is not required. Enough 2-3 spoons of herbs per 1 liter of water.
After the infusion or broth is slightly cooled, they must be filtered through 2-3 layers of gauze. We use only a filtered liquid. In medical enemas we take the decoction in pure form, for cleansing it can be diluted with boiled water to the required amount.
The volume of liquid must be prepared taking into account the growth of a person, because the length of the intestine depends on this. People are not high and those who do cleansing enema for the first time, 1.5 liters of water are enough. The same, whose growth above the average may need up to 2 liters of fluid. Therapeutic microclysters are made with a composition that varies from 30 to 200 ml, depending on the age and diagnosis of the patient.
Now with regard to the temperature of the composition for washing the intestine. If it is a simple purification procedure in the absence of inflammatory processes in the organ area, water can be taken at room temperature. If there is inflammation, it is better to use a liquid whose temperature will be close to body temperature measured in the rectum (37-38 degrees), which will be more pleasant for inflamed tissues.
Use for cold enemas cold water is strictly prohibited, because it can cause spasm of the intestine and prevent effective cleansing and treatment.
But to prepare a solution a little, it is necessary to have a special tool that will help to introduce a liquid herbal composition into the rectum or vagina (douching is the same microclyster). Depending on the objectives pursued, it will be necessary to prepare:
- Combination heating pad or Esmarch mug (for cleaning procedures with a large volume of water),
- syringes of the required size (for therapeutic microclysters).
Before the procedure, the handpieces of the disinfected rubber tool must be lubricated with vaseline, which will facilitate their introduction into the rectum.
After the solution has been injected into the rectum, it can run out, which means that the surface on which the patient will stay during the procedure will need to be sent to the oilcloth to prevent fluid leakage.
Technique of the enemas with chamomile
Immediately before setting the enema, it is advisable to conduct some hygienic procedures (clean the site of enema injection with water and soap). This prevents the intestines from getting pathogens from outside, and they really like to live in such places.
How to make an enema with chamomile at home?
Cleansing the bowels with an enema is a procedure that can be carried out both in a hospital and at home. But if the junior medical staff takes care of everything in the hospital, explaining what and how to do, then there are no expectations at home of prompts and qualified help. It is necessary to take care of the necessary information in advance.
To begin with, it is most convenient to carry out a purification procedure in 2 positions: resting on your elbows and knees or assuming the position "lying on your side". In a supine position, it is possible to facilitate the administration of the solution by bending the legs in the knees (in the embryo posture). The "kneeling" position implies the help of another person.
Further, a nozzle of Esmarch's mug or a combination heating pad beforehand smeared with vaseline injects into the anus. The depth of the immersion should be within 4-5 cm. The reservoir of the instrument used should be filled with liquid by approximately two thirds (1.5-2 liters) and suspended at a height (or the helper will hold it at the top), after inserting the tip the faucet is opened and given the possibility of fluid flowing freely into the intestine.
The procedure can be completed after 7-10 minutes, after which the person will necessarily have to go to the toilet, so that the intestines can emptied.
If the intestine was not previously cleared of accumulated feces, then a small amount of liquid (micro-enema) must be introduced, and after the emptying of the intestine, the remaining 1.5 liters of liquid should be introduced.
If the enema is performed for therapeutic purposes, it should be done better in the supine position (preferably the left one). First, the intestines need to be gently cleansed with simple boiled water, and then slowly enter the medicinal composition into it using a conventional syringe.
How much should I keep an enema with chamomile? Typically, doctors recommend that the solution be absorbed into the intestinal tissues so that it can exert its therapeutic effect. It usually takes 15-20 minutes to remove the remnants of the medicinal composition. At this time a person is advised to stay in a lying position (lie on his side or on his stomach).
If an enema is placed with constipation or diarrhea, the body itself will tell you when to go to the toilet with an active urge to defecate.
Enema with chamomile child
We, adults and independent people, can not always take care of ourselves. And what can we say about children who need our help to conduct medical procedures? The child can not make himself an enema, which means that it is the duty of the parents.
It is clear that babies rarely have serious problems, which we wrote about above. Usually it ends with banal constipation or prolonged diarrhea. And an enema with chamomile helps to solve the problem quickly and safely.
But you need to understand that, like any treatment procedure, the enema should be used as directed by the doctor, especially when it comes to the health of the child. Such a procedure can be prescribed by a doctor with proven prolonged (3 or more days) constipation, poisoning, as preparation for the introduction of medicines or diagnostic measures.
Particular care should be exercised in relation to newborns, because constipation in such children is usually associated with improper diet of the baby himself or excesses on the table in the nursing mother. Before resorting to an enema, you need to make sure that it is constipation caused by impaired intestinal peristalsis, and not the effects of overheating or the peculiarity of the child's body. No matter how useful and safe the procedure is, you can not abuse it.
In newborns, whose bowel movement occurs several times a day, constipation can be suspected if the stool has not been more than a day, and the behavior of the baby indicates that it has pain and discomfort in the tummy (the child can cry, be capricious, pinch or press them, etc.).
When starting the procedure, you need to take care of the appropriate syringe with a soft rubber tip. A large syringe, and even more so Eschmarch's mug will not be useful to us. Sprinkovochku before use it is necessary to boil for 5 minutes.
Enema with chamomile newborn is used the same way as an adult. Decoction or infusion of chamomile with a temperature of 35-37 degrees is dialed into the syringe, pre-compressed rubber pear hand. Lubricated with Vaselin tip injected into the anus and slowly release the liquid into the intestine, taking care that the pear does not have air at the time of the enema.
They take out the pear in a compressed state, and the ass of the baby for half a minute gently squeezed the hand so that the liquid does not leak out, and there was time for softening the stool. Then the hand can be removed and allow the intestines of the baby to push out all unnecessary outside.
During the procedure, the toddler should lie on his side or back, and the mom hand will help bring the bent legs closer to the tummy to make it easier to inject the syringe. The treatment of a small child does not tolerate haste and sudden movements that can injure the delicate intestinal mucosa.
As for the amount of solution used for the enema, it depends on the age of the baby. Newborns in the first month of life can be administered 30-35 ml of fluid. Babies up to 3 months of the dose can be increased by another 10 ml. Treatment of children up to six months is carried out using 60-95 ml of decoction or infusion. From 6 months and older for therapeutic purposes take from 100 to 200 ml of liquid.
Cleansing enema in children older than 10 years implies the introduction of 300-500 ml of fluid. But in any case, such questions should always be discussed with the pediatrician.

Contraindications to the procedure
Whatever the procedure of setting the enema seemed safe, it still has its own limitations on the application. Even inflammatory processes in the intestines, which are treated with an enema, however funny it may sound, can become an obstacle to the procedure.
So, for example, colitis and hemorrhoids are treated with an enema with chamomile or other compounds. But we are talking about therapeutic microclysters. Cleaning procedures using a large volume of water in this case are unacceptable.
If the disease is acute, and with hemorrhoids, there is a dropout of the nodes out, even therapeutic treatment procedures are not carried out until the patient's condition is normalized with stronger medications.
Cleansing enema is not performed in case of bleeding from the gastrointestinal tract and any severe gastrointestinal pathologies.
An obstacle may be various neoplasms in the intestines, pathologies accompanied by prolapse of the rectum, acute pain, suspicion of surgical pathology, dysbiosis, allergic reaction to chamomile. Caution should also be observed for pregnant women.
In children, contraindications will be any congenital tumors and outgrowths in the digestive tract, cracks and inflammations in the anus, rectal prolapse, dysbiosis, surgical pathologies, hemorrhages from the anus, allergic manifestations (rash, itching, runny nose). Do not make the procedure in the case of regularly repeated constipation.
In any case, before practicing medical or cleaning procedures, you must first get a consultation of a therapist or pediatrician in this matter. And there is nothing to be ashamed of.
Consequences after the procedure
No one can deny the benefits of enema with chamomile. This is an effective treatment and cleaning procedure, shown to both adults and children. But the benefit from it can only be obtained if properly carried out.
All movements during the injection of the tip into the rectum should be done very carefully. The walls of the intestine, of course, can withstand a heavy load, but soft mucous is very easy to damage, especially if it is already inflamed. This will lead to pain, erosion and the development of the same inflammatory process (but no longer of an infectious nature), which is not so easy to stop, given the location of the tissues and lack of air access.
Whatever useful the enema was not to do, it is often not recommended by doctors because of the danger of intestinal dysbiosis. After all, water will wash away the beneficial microflora, and we will clean the intestines not only from harmful, but also from beneficial substances and microorganisms. The purification procedure can be carried out 1-2 times a year or before you go on a diet. A doctor can prescribe medicinal manipulations no more often than once in 2 days.
Moreover, the intestines may like to be inactive, because all the work for him will perform enema and chamomile broth. Violation of the intestinal peristalsis will lead to the fact that a person will suffer from chronic constipation.
Even worse, if the procedure is carried out without taking into account contraindications. This will lead to complications after the procedure available in the body pathologies. This can manifest as an exacerbation of chronic gastrointestinal diseases with the appearance of nausea, vomiting, epigastric pain, weakness, bleeding. Dizziness and headaches may also occur.
If such symptoms have arisen during the procedure, it may be about the characteristics of the body and the negative reaction to the intervention. In this case, you need to look for other methods to solve the problem.
Care after the procedure
With regard to care after the procedure of washing the intestine, it is the most common. The area of the anus after enema needs to be cleaned with a damp cloth or washed with water and soap. You can use chamomile infusion. After the procedure, the patient is recommended to lie down for a while, relax. Active activities, games, sports and fitness will have to be postponed for half an hour.
Opinion of patients and doctors
As the feedback on the procedure says, its effectiveness in the treatment of inflammatory bowel diseases allows putting the enema in the category of useful methods of home and hospital treatment, the use of which is allowed from an early age, when other methods are unavailable. Chamomile rarely causes allergic reactions, but it fights very well with inflammation, quickly removing unpleasant symptoms even in the place of cracks.
In the absence of drugs in the old days, infusion and chamomile broth was used to treat wounds, and this helped wounded warriors to avoid complications and infection of blood. It is clear that these same compounds will have a curative effect if they are used for sedentary baths and enemas. This is confirmed by numerous reviews of people to whom these effective procedures helped to fight the painful symptoms of inflammatory diseases. The disease receded much faster, if the chamomile and her compatriot calendula entered the fight against inflammation and germs.
With regard to cleansing enemas for weight loss, many women also note that after thorough cleansing of the intestine, they no longer experienced increased appetite, normal digestion, improved sleep and skin appearance, and weight was much more effective than those who did without enema.
Enema with chamomile is a procedure recommended by the doctors themselves, and if it is carried out in accordance with the requirements and appointment of a doctor, the benefit from it will be extremely great. Chamomile helps make the procedure unpleasant in its essence very useful and once again proves the correctness of our ancestors who treated this plant with great respect, noting its high medicinal properties and not ashamed to clean it with the help of the body from any "filth."
