Camptodactyly - a congenital defect caused by a violation of the differentiation of the tendon-muscle apparatus of the hand.
ICD-10 code
Q74.0 Camptodactyly.
Symptoms of camptodactyly
Observe either isolated flexion contracture of the V finger (in 96% of cases), or combined with the flexural contraction of the II-IV fingers at the level of the proximal interphalangeal joint (in 4% of cases). A small amplitude of movements (30-40 °) is preserved due to an imbalance of flexor tendons and extensors and underdevelopment of the interosseous muscles. When attempting to passively correct the deformation, the flexion contracture of the proximal interphalangeal joint is not eliminated, while re-dissection is observed in the distal interphalangeal joint. Skin pattern on the back surface of interphalangeal joints is smoothed.
Treatment of camptodactyly
Treatment operative, is to eliminate the flexion contracture of the V finger after cutting off the legs of the tendon of the superficial flexor. If necessary, also perform corrective osteotomy of the main phalanx.
