An allergy is a reaction of the human immune system to the entry of allergens into the body – substances that the system regards as a foreign infection and begins to fight it.
Allergies in adults can occur due to many reasons, such as:
- problems of a psychological nature. In our depressive times, it is difficult to maintain inner peace, because constant psychological breakdowns have a negative impact on the nervous system. Scandals at home with family, problems with superiors at work, misunderstanding from relatives, difficult age for children and other similar factors make a person constantly experience stress, depression, depressed state, lack of mood and even appetite. On this basis, immunity is greatly weakened, as a result of which an allergy to some factor may occur in adults;
- improper nutrition is another reason for the appearance of allergies. Today, more and more people are accustomed to eating food that is not cooked at home, but bought in a store and heated in a microwave oven or cooked in a few minutes. Such unhealthy food includes semi-finished products, instant noodles, tea bags, canned goods, as well as cigarettes, low-quality alcohol, etc. A large number of preservatives, dyes and other substances are added to this food, which have a negative effect on the digestive and nervous systems, liver and other organs. Do we need to say that allergies in adults who eat such products do not require much persuasion?
- smoking, which can also be a source of allergies in adults. The body is constantly experiencing nicotine intoxication, which has a negative impact on human health, in particular, on its immune system. And weak immunity, as is known, is the cause of allergic reactions to various irritants;
- Adults may also have an allergy to household dust. House dust contains microparticles of human skin and hair, as well as animal skin and hair. When these particles enter the body, they cause an allergic reaction;
- food allergies – one of the most common types of allergies. Most often, allergens are foods such as citrus fruits, dairy and fermented milk products, sea fish and seafood, exotic fruits and vegetables, and others. Food allergies in adults develop much more slowly than in children;
- alcohol is also a very common cause of allergic reactions in adults. Vermouth, liqueur, and various cocktails can often trigger an allergic reaction, since they contain a large number of dyes and other artificial additives. It is also worth noting that the longer wine is stored, the higher its ability to cause allergies in adults, since the concentration of special substances in such a drink only increases over the years;
- medicines. Unlike children, adults often resort to taking certain medications. Medicines, which are sometimes a mixture of many different chemicals, can provoke an allergic reaction to any component in their composition, so allergy sufferers should take medications only after consulting a doctor.
Here are the main reasons for the occurrence of such a disease as allergy in adults. If you find any red spots or rashes on your body, accompanied by itching and peeling, you should immediately contact a medical institution for qualified medical help.
