The importance of the first meal after waking up is confirmed by the well-known proverb: "Eat breakfast yourself, share lunch with a friend, and dinner...". Its English version: "Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper."
Breakfast is no less important for gastritis, one of the most common diseases of the human digestive system.
Indications for the diet
Most patients are strongly advised to follow a diet for gastritis on a permanent basis as an integral part of complex treatment. Inflammation of the gastric mucosa causes pain, nausea, vomiting, heartburn, bloating, which often worsen after eating fatty, spicy, sour, fried, too cold or too hot food. Rare meals, as well as its excess volume (stretching the stomach, it stimulates the secretion of hydrochloric acid) also increase the symptoms.
The importance of the chemical and physical composition of food in case of inflammation of the gastric mucosa is indicated by the fact that carbohydrates are digested faster than proteins, and proteins faster than fats. Grinding food (pureed soups, boiled porridges, vegetable purees, steamed minced meat dishes) also makes the work of the diseased stomach easier. In addition, the smaller the food particles, the faster the relaxation of the duodenum occurs - that is, the emptying of the stomach begins.
So the main goal of a diet for gastritis is to reduce inflammation of the stomach.
The essence of the diet for this disease is to alleviate symptoms (by eliminating a number of foods, food consistency and more frequent meals), preventing deterioration of the condition, normalizing the pH level of gastric juice and the production of enzymes to minimize indigestion - while ensuring the intake of all necessary nutrients into the body.
First of all, indications for prescribing a diet include increased stomach acidity, however, all types of gastritis – including those with low stomach acidity – require certain changes to the diet.
So the benefits of diet for this diagnosis are obvious, and its important role in digestion and the general condition of patients with inflammation of the gastric mucosa has long been recognized.
What can you have for breakfast if you have gastritis? What shouldn't you eat?
Breakfast, like breakfast in general, should not be skipped when you have gastritis. Both gastroenterologists and nutritionists consider it the most important meal for proper metabolism (it helps maintain a stable insulin level) and the functioning of the body (providing it with energy).
What can you have for breakfast with gastritis? For the first meal, nutritionists recommend foods containing fiber, carbohydrates (simple and complex), and complete protein.
Of course, these are various cereals: porridge for breakfast with gastritis is the best option. Pasta, potatoes, white bread and cookies, cottage cheese, eggs, lean meat and fish, vegetables and fruits, as well as vegetable oils rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids are suitable.

What should not be eaten? With hyperacid gastritis, products that increase acidity are strictly contraindicated, and if gastritis is hypoacid, then the diet should not include products that reduce acidity.
But with any type of disease, restrictions are imposed on the consumption of fats, including fried foods, fatty meats, lard, butter and fatty dairy products: by slowing down the digestion process and delaying the emptying of the stomach, they can aggravate the inflammation of the gastric mucosa.

Recipes
Basic recipes for breakfast dishes are simple. So, any porridge can be diversified by adding fruits and berries. For example, it is not difficult at all to cook rice porridge with pumpkin: regular porridge is cooked (in water), but at the same time finely chopped pumpkin (pulp) is boiled; the proportions of both are at your own discretion and taste. When the pumpkin becomes soft, it needs to be turned into puree and combined with rice, cooking for another 10 minutes. Semolina with pumpkin is cooked in the same way.
But you can also make semolina pudding. To do this, add 100 ml of hot milk to the ready thick semolina porridge (250-300 g); add the yolks of two raw eggs, ground with a tablespoon of sugar, and the whites, whipped into a foam. Mix everything and pour it onto a baking sheet greased with butter and sprinkled with ground breadcrumbs and bake. Any jam or preserves are usually put on a piece of this pudding.
Millet porridge can be cooked with zucchini. Peel and seed the zucchini, chop it finely and put it in salted boiling water, where after 3-5 minutes add well-washed and scalded millet (if you pour boiling water over the millet before cooking, it will not be bitter and will cook twice as fast). Such a dietary dish for breakfast will be ready in a quarter of an hour after the cereal boils. A little butter is added to the finished porridge.
Here is a recipe for an omelette with boiled carrots and fresh herbs, which is prepared by steaming. To do this, finely chopped carrots (pre-boiled) and chopped parsley or dill are added to beaten eggs (with the addition of two tablespoons of milk). In case of hypoacid gastritis, you can also add finely chopped tomatoes and bell peppers. It will take about 20 minutes to prepare such a breakfast.
With gastritis, it is unlikely that you will be able to have breakfast “like a king”, because breakfast for gastritis is part of a dietary nutrition that is aimed at alleviating the symptoms of the disease and contributes to its treatment.
