What is high acidity? Simply put, high acidity is when part of the gastric juice, whose specific gravity exceeds 0.5%, ends up in the esophagus, which leads to irritation of the mucous membrane of the esophageal tube. A burning sensation appears behind the breastbone, a sour taste in the mouth.

Many of us periodically experience such a condition, most often associated with violations of the diet: for example, with the intake of not quite the right food, or with eating food "on the run", in a hurry, dry. If such discomfort is repeated, or, moreover, has become regular, then this is an indirect sign of problems in the digestive system. Moreover, the first thing that the doctor will prescribe in this case is a diet for increased stomach acidity.

What is the diet for high stomach acidity?

Most of us have an idea of where our digestive problems come from. However, we often pay little attention to this until the disease becomes obvious. Skipping meals, quick snacks, overeating, semi-finished products and fast food - unfortunately, these are the most common principles of modern nutrition. Nutritional errors over time provoke the appearance of problems with digestion, and not only. This is also where increased stomach acidity comes from.

Now we will try to determine what kind of diet should be for increased stomach acidity in order to normally endure the acute period of the disease and prevent another attack of increased acidity.

What exactly should you change in your diet to improve your well-being and digestion?

The diet developed by specialists does not allow the use of strong rich broths, including mushroom ones. In case of exacerbation of the condition, instead of borscht and rassolnik, it is better to prepare cream soup or slimy soup (based on oatmeal or rice).

For cooking, it is better to choose vegetables that contain less fiber. These are potatoes, carrots, pumpkin. It is better to put off white cabbage, radishes and sorrel until better times.

Fruits should not be sour, and in the acute period they should not be eaten raw, but only boiled or baked. The best option for eating fruits during an exacerbation is soufflé or puree.

When choosing meat, it is necessary to prefer lean varieties, and it should be boiled, stewed or cooked in a steamer. Fried and fatty meat is prohibited.

Watch your fat intake: it allows food to stay in your stomach longer, which can negatively affect your well-being.

The principles of the diet do not prohibit the consumption of porridges and side dishes made from cereals. They are prepared with water or milk, and during an exacerbation, the porridges are made more liquid for better absorption.

It is useful to eat cottage cheese and other fermented milk products, fresh milk, eggs.

What can you drink with increased acidity? Weakly brewed tea, compote, jelly, regular drinking water, you can drink alkaline mineral water without gas.

It is worth mentioning one more condition of dietary nutrition - this is fractional food intake in small portions. That is, it is better to eat a little, but every 2-3 hours, than to eat to satiety 2-3 times a day.

It would not be superfluous to pay attention to the drinking regime: it is not recommended to drink with food, as well as drink immediately after eating. Liquid is consumed half an hour before eating, or 1-2 hours after.

Diet recipes for high stomach acidity

Oatmeal muffins

Ingredients: 200 g rolled oats, 60 g sugar, 2 tbsp vegetable oil, 1 tsp baking powder, some raisins (pitted), 1 egg, some salt, 230 ml milk.

Mix oatmeal and milk, add egg, sugar, a little salt and vegetable oil. Knead and set aside for 10 minutes. Then add steamed raisins and baking powder. Distribute the dough into muffin tins, pour not to the top, but slightly above half. Put in the oven at 180°C for about 40 minutes (depending on the oven and the size of the muffins). Enjoy.

Steamed cutlets

Ingredients: 1 kg veal, 100 ml milk, 150-200 g bread, two onions, 100 ml water, 50 g butter, 3 eggs, salt.

Clean the meat from films and fat, rinse, cut into pieces and grind in a meat grinder twice. Grind the onion and bread soaked in milk there. Melt the butter, beat with eggs until foam forms. Add salt to the mince, mix, then pour in the butter with eggs, mix again and pour in water (this will make the cutlets juicy).

Make cutlets from the minced meat and put them in a steamer. Cook for about 40 minutes, turning them over periodically (every 6-8 minutes). Can be served with a side dish of potatoes, vegetables or cereals.

Reviews of the diet for high stomach acidity

Patients suffering from increased stomach acidity clearly note that diet is a must, and often the main attribute of treating the disease. The goal of dietary changes is to stabilize the production of gastric juice and improve the digestion process. It is recommended to learn the main principles of the diet by heart or hang them on the refrigerator to always remember the permitted and prohibited products (of course, if there is a clear focus on recovery).

We have considered the basic principles of nutrition for high acidity. Of course, only a medical specialist can determine the true cause that led to stomach problems. However, if you take timely measures and, at the first symptoms of problems, immediately change your diet, you can prevent serious consequences for our health and do without complex and long-term treatment.

A diet for increased stomach acidity can last as long as you can stand it. Sometimes you have to stick to such a diet for life. Do not think that after "sitting" on a diet, you will be able to pounce on fatty and smoked products again, washing it all down with beer or cola. Moderation in food, healthy and correct products, adherence to the diet and drinking regime - all these principles should be the main ones in the diet of any person who wants to be healthy.
