The claimed effect of chondroitin sulfate
Chondroitin sulfate is used to treat osteoarthritis. Scientific evidence suggests its use in order to reduce pain in the joints, improve joint mobility and reduce the dose of conventional anti-inflammatory drugs when taken for 6-24 months.
The effect of the drug over a longer period is not clear. The mechanism is also unknown. The dose is from 600 mg orally per day to 400 mg orally 3 times a day.
