The human body is a complex mechanism, the coordinated work of which is possible only if its organs and tissues receive a sufficient amount of nutrients, and primarily vitamins and microelements. At different periods of life, the need for such substances may differ. It is especially great during the period when a new life is maturing in the womb of a woman and often takes a large amount of nutrients for itself for growth and development. It is the lack of vitamins and microelements that can cause miscarriages and premature births, which is why doctors so often prescribe vitamin and mineral complexes to expectant mothers. Thus, the drug "Magnelis B6" during pregnancy is prescribed if there is a risk of complications due to excessive anxiety of the woman and increased tone of the uterus. And since any mother is in a certain tension for 9 months, worrying about the life and development of the child, the drug is useful for almost all representatives of the fairer sex in an interesting position.

Indications for use

Considering that future mothers also live in the conditions of modern civilization, it is necessary to understand that most of them already have a magnesium deficiency during the period of conception. For others, it may occur during pregnancy, because the baby takes the nutrients necessary for its development from the mother's body, which means that the need for them increases by 1.5-2 times.

And it is good if a woman's diet during this period consists of natural, ecologically clean products, rich in vitamins and microelements. But such food is becoming more and more difficult to access every year, giving way to products whose chemical composition is not only unhealthy, but even dangerous for the child growing in the womb of a woman. Natural products are replaced by artificially recreated ones, it is clear that manufacturers care little about their vitamin and mineral composition.

It is the lack of a complete, balanced diet that becomes the most common cause of magnesium deficiency, due to which the body of a pregnant woman becomes more susceptible to stress. Understanding this, doctors advise starting to take Magneli B6 even when planning a pregnancy.

Many women, especially those who adhere to the principles of healthy eating, may think that they do not need to take magnesium preparations and vitamin complexes, because nature provides everything they and their future child need. In some ways, they are right. Fruits, some vegetables and fresh herbs are a complete and fairly rich source of magnesium, potassium, iron, other minerals and vitamins. But why then do doctors prescribe magnesium preparations such as Magnelis B6, Magne B6, Magnevit B6, etc.?

The problem is that magnesium is absorbed in our body only by 30%. And if in a normal situation a woman may have enough of it for the normal functioning of her body, then during pregnancy the need for magnesium increases by 1.5 times and it is almost impossible to cover them with such absorption of the microelement. After all, a child needs magnesium no less than a mother, its correct and full development depends on it.

Magnesium, which is actively involved in carbohydrate and energy metabolism, protein synthesis, the process of transferring genetic information, the formation of blood cells, placenta and all parts of the child's body, the fetus receives from the mother's body. Giving all its magnesium reserves to the baby, trying with all its might to preserve the life that has arisen in it, the female body itself suffers.

If the expectant mother suffered from magnesium deficiency before conception, her pregnancy may be problematic from the very beginning. Magnesium, along with pyridoxine, which is included in the composition of the drug "Magnelis B6", stabilizes the passage of nerve impulses, positively affecting the functioning of the nervous system, and during pregnancy, protecting against such a dangerous condition as uterine hypertonicity. After all, it is the central nervous system that controls the process of muscle contraction and relaxation, including the muscles of the reproductive organs.

The positive effect of magnesium on the nervous system can also be seen in the fact that a woman becomes calmer, more balanced, and does not react so violently to various emotionally charged situations. Sometimes the reason for the inability to conceive a child is an unstable psycho-emotional background. And as soon as it is established, the long-awaited event soon occurs.

Calmness and the ability to control the situation are very important for a pregnant woman, because nature itself has put anxiety for the future child into her brain. But the usual manifestation of maternal instinct is also a risk factor for losing the child. Increased uterine tone, which can be easily provoked by any worries, becomes the most common cause of miscarriages in the early stages of pregnancy.

As we can see, doctors have a reason to insist on taking magnesium supplements at the stage of pregnancy planning. If we consider that the daily requirement for this microelement in the expectant mother increases sharply in the first days and months of pregnancy from 300 to 400-500 mg, then it is very difficult to cover it with food alone. But often we cannot even handle the usual 300 mg with our diet. So it turns out that we want a baby, but we cannot bear it.

If a woman has not taken care to replenish magnesium reserves in the body at the stage of pregnancy planning, the drug "Mangelis B6" can be prescribed to her for preventive purposes when registering or for therapeutic purposes with increased uterine tone during pregnancy. This is how doctors try to preserve pregnancy in the early stages, calming untimely labor.

How does magnesium deficiency occur and what are the risks?

On the one hand, doctors are playing it safe by prescribing magnesium preparations, which are so important for the normal course of pregnancy. Although the need to take such medications is not always obvious. On the other hand, it is easier to prevent complications than to try to stop the labor process that has started prematurely. True, there is a third side, this is the instructions for the drug, which says that during pregnancy the drug can be used strictly according to the doctor's instructions. This is exactly the point that confuses expectant mothers, causing a fair question: is it possible to take Magneli B6 during pregnancy?

The validity of this question is supported by the fact that the analogue of this drug (magnesia) in the form of injections, which is prescribed when there is a risk of miscarriage, can subsequently cause difficult labor. Well, let's try to figure out whether taking magnesium preparations is really necessary for expectant mothers and what risks does a woman run by refusing such therapy?

Nowadays, the pharmaceutical industry produces a large number of various vitamins and vitamin-mineral complexes with a rich composition, allowing to cover the daily need of the body in useful substances. Against their background, calcium and magnesium preparations look very modest. Nevertheless, the great popularity of such drugs suggests that it is the above-mentioned microelements that play a huge role in the vital activity of the human body.

Well, everything is clear with calcium, because even in childhood our parents and school nurse told us how necessary this microelement is for our bones and teeth. But magnesium, what is its value? According to the advertisement of the drug "Magne B6", stable functioning of the nervous system under conditions of stress and increased loads on the brain is simply unthinkable without it. But perhaps this is just an advertising ploy to increase sales of magnesium preparations?

Many people agree on this opinion, based on the fact that earlier our ancestors managed without such drugs, worked, created families, carried and gave birth to children, despite all the worries and experiences associated with collectivization, war, Stalin's repressions, etc. But we must understand that in those days there were different living conditions, and food products were completely natural and contained a full range of necessary vitamins and microelements.

And what do we have? All those benefits of civilization that do not contribute to strengthening health: stress, nervous tension at work, night shifts and lack of rest, a sedentary lifestyle, refined and genetically modified products, fast food and semi-finished products. Our ancestors worked until the seventh sweat in the fields and factories, and we do not even need to get up from the couch to make the necessary purchase, despite the fact that physical inactivity is a direct path to many diseases. They ate healthy wholesome food, and we, in a hurry and pursuit of life's benefits, limit ourselves to snacking on products of dubious quality and composition, in which poisons and salts of heavy metals are more likely to be found than useful vitamins, magnesium, calcium, selenium and other substances necessary for a person.

And what is the result of such a lifestyle? It must be said, there is little joy. Even very young boys and girls begin to complain of weakness, rapid fatigue, frequent headaches, characteristic of asthenic syndrome. A little later, failures in work appear

  • cardiovascular system: hypertension, arrhythmia, myocardial dystrophy (weakness of the heart muscle) appear,
  • digestive system: the intestines suffer first, disruptions in their functioning cause pain and spasms in the lower abdomen, constipation, irregular bowel movements and, as a result, intoxication of the body,
  • reproductive system: menstrual irregularities, PMS, dysmenorrhea, miscarriages,
  • neuropsychiatric disorders: problems falling asleep, frequent awakenings, insomnia, memory impairment and deterioration of intellectual abilities, impaired sensitivity of the extremities, convulsions, muscle twitching, etc.

All of the above symptoms may indicate a lack of magnesium in the body, which is important for people of any gender, but plays one of the main roles in a woman's life. In addition to the fact that magnesium is involved in many physiological processes occurring in our body, including metabolism, and is necessary for the normal functioning of cellular structures, it regulates the transmission of nerve impulses and the contraction of muscle fibers.

A special area of magnesium activity is the female reproductive system. A sufficient amount of magnesium in the body prevents the occurrence of painful spasms during menstruation, and during pregnancy protects a woman from increased uterine tone (spasms and muscle contractions), which is dangerous for the fetus, and it is not surprising that "Magnelis B6" and other magnesium preparations are so often prescribed by gynecologists to their patients.

Release form

We have figured out how important it is for a woman and expectant mother to regularly maintain the necessary level of magnesium in the body. It is not easy to do this by adjusting nutrition, because the need for the microelement in the mother and the child in her womb is very high. Therefore, in order to help women go through this important period in their lives with dignity and give birth to a healthy baby in a timely manner, doctors prescribe Magneli B6 or its analogues during pregnancy.

Like most other magnesium preparations, the vitamin complex "Magnelis B6" is a duet of easily digestible compounds of magnesium and vitamin B6, which is otherwise called pyridoxine. The inclusion of pyridoxine in the composition is not accidental, because this vitamin also participates in the regulation of nervous activity and, in addition, additionally increases the absorption of magnesium by the body's cells.

The drug is available in two forms: regular and forte. 1 tablet of Magnelis B6 contains magnesium lactate (magnesium lactate) in a dosage of 470 mg. This is a highly digestible compound, but it supplies the body with only 48 mg of magnesium.

"Magnelis B6 Forte", which doctors may prescribe during pregnancy even more often than a regular drug with a standard dosage, has a slightly different composition. 1 tablet contains 618 mg of sodium citrate, obtained from citric acid and various fruits. This easily digestible substance has high bioavailability, actively spreading through tissues along with water, due to which the body is replenished with 100 g of magnesium with each tablet.

Pyridoxine in the preparations is contained in the appropriate dosage of 5 and 10 mg, which covers the body's need for this vitamin and helps magnesium penetrate into living cells, promote the synthesis of neurotransmitters, and stabilize the functioning of the nervous system.

Both drugs are available in tablet form and are able to effectively combat the manifestations of mild to moderate magnesium deficiency in the body. During pregnancy, such conditions may manifest themselves:

  • increased irritability, tearfulness, a feeling of constant anxiety for the baby, sleep disturbances,
  • increased blood pressure, tachycardia, heart rhythm disturbances,
  • increased uterine tone, which manifests itself as nagging pain in the lower abdomen (similar to pain during menstruation), a feeling of heaviness in the abdomen, pain and aches in the lumbar region and pubic area, excessive fetal mobility in the womb),
  • pains similar to stomach cramps or intestinal colic.

In case of such complaints, the doctor prescribes the drugs "Magnelis B6" or "Magnelis B6 Forte" depending on the severity of the symptoms and the need for magnesium. If severe cramping pains appear in the early stages of pregnancy, the woman is prescribed magnesium preparations in injections ("Magne B6", "Magnesium sulfate" or magnesia) or droppers. In this case, the dropper is considered more preferable, because intravenous injection is often accompanied by very unpleasant sensations: a feeling of heat, pain, dizziness, up to loss of consciousness. And a painful lump often remains at the injection site.

Pharmacodynamics

To better understand the effect of Magnelis B6 during pregnancy, it is necessary to consider the pharmacodynamics of this drug, in which the main complementary components are magnesium lactate or citrate and pyridoxine.

We have already mentioned that magnesium is one of the main incredibly important microelements in our body. Thanks to it, our cells can function normally. And first of all, this concerns brain cells. But all processes occurring in the body are under the control of the central nervous system. The brain receives signals from sensitive receptors and transmits them to various organs and systems, thus ensuring the vital functions of the body.

Magnesium deficiency, which is detected in the laboratory if the blood serum contains less than 17 mg of magnesium per liter, leads to the nervous system starting to function incorrectly and malfunction. Magnesium is an element that helps relax muscles. It is clear that if there is not enough of it in the body, painful spasms may occur. During pregnancy, the main organ of the female reproductive system, the uterus, can spasm, which is a risk factor for miscarriages and premature births.

If we remember how often miscarriages in women occur against the background of stressful situations and nervous breakdowns, the benefits of magnesium preparations, which help stabilize the nervous system, and give future mothers peace and composure, become clear. Women who take the drug "Magnelis B6" or its analogues during pregnancy react more calmly to stressful situations, which are so saturated with modern life, and therefore they have a lower risk of losing a child for this reason.

Magnesium, which enters the body of a pregnant woman from specialized preparations, participates in all stages of protein synthesis and the nucleotide ATP, which is considered the main source of energy for living cells. In fact, it prepares the source material for the formation of the placenta and the fetus inside it. This same microelement participates in virtually all metabolic processes that occur during 9 months in the bodies of the mother and the child growing in her womb.

Magnesium normalizes nerve transmission and prevents uterine muscle spasms (antispasmodic effect), stabilizes the cardiovascular system, regulates blood pressure, heart rate and rhythm (antiarrhythmic effect), increases blood fluidity (antiplatelet effect) and thereby improves metabolism in tissues and organs. All this is very important for the normal course of pregnancy and fetal development.

Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine), in turn, also participates in metabolism, including metabolic processes occurring in nerve fibers. It also has the ability to regulate blood glucose levels, which prevents its fluctuations, which result in the diagnosis of "gestational diabetes". Diabetes mellitus that occurs during pregnancy usually goes away after childbirth, but it increases the risk of developing this pathology in the future.

Pharmacokinetics

Since Magnelis B6 tablets are intended for oral administration, and magnesium is poorly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, the inclusion of pyridoxine in the drug promotes better absorption of the microelement, which is important during pregnancy, and its fixation inside the cells, and this makes it possible to reduce the recommended dosage of magnesium preparations.

Magnesium absorption depends on the solubility of the salt in which it is presented in the preparations "Magnelis B6" and "Magnelis B6 Forte", but it does not exceed 50 percent. Magnesium citrate has better solubility and absorption than lactate. But both of these salts dissolve better than other compounds (oxides, chlorides, etc.), so they are used in medicinal preparations.

The drug is excreted from the body through the kidneys (about a third of the dose taken). Almost 99% of magnesium is contained in the body inside the cells, with muscles accounting for about 1/3 of the total volume of the microelement.

Method of administration and dosage

The preparations "Magnelis B6" and "Magnelis B6 Forte" are produced in the form of tablets intended for oral administration, i.e. they should be taken orally, washed down with water in sufficient quantity (about 1 glass). The instructions do not recommend crushing the tablets, so they are swallowed whole.

According to the annotation to the drugs, adult patients should take 3-4 tablets of "Magnelis B3 Forte" or 6-8 tablets of "Magnelis B6". The daily dose should be divided into 2-3 doses.

This is the standard dosage recommended by the manufacturers of the drug, taking into account that the human body should receive 300-400 mg of magnesium per day. If you count 4 tablets of "Magnelis B6" with a dosage corresponding to 100 g of magnesium, or 8 tablets containing 100 g of the microelement, they satisfy the need for magnesium for men (400 mg). A lower dose limit corresponds to the need for magnesium for women.

The duration of taking the medication is usually determined by the attending physician and is up to 1 month.

But during pregnancy, a woman has different needs for vitamins and microelements, so the question arises of how and how much magnesium supplements should expectant mothers take. It is very difficult to answer this question unequivocally, because laboratory indicators of magnesium in women can differ significantly, which means that the need to replenish its reserves will be different.

Considering that the daily rate of magnesium entering the body of a pregnant woman should be within 350-500 mg, for young mothers the male and adolescent dosage of 400 mg is more suitable. Therefore, during pregnancy, Magnelis B6 is usually prescribed 2 tablets, and Magnelis B6 Forte 1 tablet 3-4 times a day. Most often, the daily dose is limited to 300 mg of magnesium per day, because the expectant mother receives the rest of the microelement with food. And during this period, women take care as best they can to ensure that their diet is as useful as possible for the child growing in the womb.

However, in each specific case, the decision on the optimal dosage is made by the doctor, who has conducted a preliminary assessment of the patient's needs for magnesium and vitamins.

The course of "Mannelis B6" during pregnancy is also selected individually. For preventive purposes and low dosages, the drug is prescribed in a monthly course 3-6 months before conception, as well as starting from the 5-6, and sometimes from the 13th week of pregnancy. Until this time, in the early stages of pregnancy, gynecologists do not advise the expectant mother to take any vitamin-mineral or multivitamin complexes, including "Magnelis B6".

Usually, the level of magnesium in the patient's body is normalized within a month. But this is not always the case, especially in conditions of limited choice of healthy food products for pregnant women. Therefore, some women have to take magnesium preparations in several courses with a two-week break between them. It also happens that a woman has to get hooked on magnesium preparations for the entire period from 5-6 weeks and almost until the very birth, if the threat of miscarriage remains despite the treatment.

"Magnelis B6" is prescribed with special caution in late pregnancy, because magnesium helps strengthen the uterus and its muscles, which will become an obstacle during labor. And yet, with increased uterine tone, if the baby is too early to be born, prophylactic administration of the drug may be prescribed. Doctors believe that it is better to then stimulate labor or resort to a cesarean section than to lose a child who was born prematurely, but is not yet capable of independent life.

Contraindications

Magnesium is a microelement that must be present in the human body. It enters the body naturally with food and is not a foreign or harmful element. Pyridoxine, which regulates the functioning of the nervous system, is also necessary for humans. And since both components contained in the drug are necessary for the body at any time in a person's life, such a drug may have few contraindications.

Since magnesium is contained in Magnelis B6 not in pure form, but in the form of salts, the body of individual patients may react poorly to other components of the chemical formula of these compounds, as well as to the auxiliary substances of the tablets. The drug is not prescribed in case of hypersensitivity to at least one of the components of the drug.

Since the drug is excreted primarily by the kidneys, it is dangerous to prescribe it to patients with severe organ failure, when creatinine clearance does not exceed 30 ml per minute.

Another contraindication to the use of the drug may be a violation of the metabolism of the amino acid phenylalanine, which leads to disorders of the central nervous system. In this case, the diagnosis sounds like phenylketonuria.

Magnesium preparations can be prescribed at any age. But there are age restrictions for Magnelis B6 tablets. The drug is approved for use in pediatrics from the age of 6. But Magnelis B6 Forte with a higher dosage of magnesium is recommended for the treatment of patients over 12 years old.

During pregnancy, "Magnelis B6" or a drug with a higher dosage can be taken only as prescribed by a doctor. After all, only laboratory diagnostics can determine whether the expectant mother's body is experiencing a magnesium deficiency. Based on its results, the necessary dosage of drugs is established.

Excess magnesium in the body, which can be caused by self-medication, will have a negative effect on the condition of a pregnant woman, including paralysis of the respiratory muscles and loss of consciousness. Therefore, doctors do not recommend carrying out such prevention of miscarriages without special need and in incorrect dosages.

Excess microelements can also have a negative effect on the body of a small child. Magnesium preparations are not accepted worldwide to use for the treatment of small children in the first year of life without special need. But magnesium can easily penetrate into breast milk, so taking preparations such as "Magnelis B6" during breastfeeding is strictly not recommended, so as not to harm the baby's fragile body and not to cause an overdose of magnesium.

Side effects

Despite the fact that studies have not revealed any negative impact of "Magnelis B6" or "Magnelis B6 Forte" on the growth and development of the fetus, as well as on the course of pregnancy, certain caution should be exercised when using the drug during this period. Women should know what they may encounter while taking this complex drug.

Like any other drug, Magnelis can cause allergic reactions, especially if the body is hypersensitive to any of its components. Despite the fact that the incidence of such reactions is very low, an allergy to Magnelis B6 during pregnancy is a serious reason to refuse to take the drug. The mother's allergy itself is not dangerous for the fetus, but its consequences in the form of circulatory and metabolic disorders can negatively affect the development of the baby, who does not receive enough nutrients and oxygen.

Pregnant women taking magnesium and pyridoxine preparations may also complain of nausea, diarrhea, bloating, and epigastric pain. It is difficult to assess whether these symptoms are related to the drug therapy, but this possibility cannot be ruled out, especially if the patient has hypersensitivity to any of the components of the drug.

Overdose

It should be said that an overdose of magnesium preparations in a pregnant woman can be caused by 2 main factors. One of them is extremely poor kidney function, which is designed to remove excess medication from the body. It is not without reason that renal failure is noted in the contraindications for taking the drug.

The second, more popular factor is self-medication, i.e. prescribing the drug to oneself without the need to replenish the microelement reserves, as they say, just in case. Fearing that the pregnancy may fail in the early stages, expectant mothers may well sin with this (while another part of pregnant women treat magnesium preparations with some caution). What can such carelessness threaten a woman with?

Excess magnesium in the body manifests itself primarily in the suppression of brain activity: interest in life disappears, apathy towards everything appears, constant drowsiness and decreased reflexes are noted. A woman's blood pressure drops, nausea and vomiting appear, hot flashes characteristic of intoxication, and double vision begins.

Further depression of the central nervous system can cause respiratory failure, even paralysis, decreased cardiac activity and cardiac arrest, and a state of coma. The excretion of urine from the body can stop (anuric syndrome), which threatens even greater intoxication of the body, but already with waste products. All this threatens not only the course of pregnancy and the health of the fetus, but also the life of the mother herself.

An established magnesium overdose, for example, if a woman took Magnelis B6 during pregnancy without a doctor's prescription or despite a doctor's prohibition related to kidney pathologies, requires urgent measures to remove the drug from the body. Gastric lavage in this case will not give any effect, because we are talking about chronic intoxication, i.e. accumulation of magnesium in the body's cells.

Rehydration measures and forced diuresis will be relevant in case of normal kidney function, in order to flush magnesium salts out of the body with the help of liquid. However, if there are serious problems with the kidneys, it is necessary to resort to peritoneal or hemodialysis, which poses a certain risk during pregnancy, so it is carried out only in severe cases of intoxication.

Important information about the drug

Regardless of whether the medicine is a vitamin complex or a full-fledged medical preparation, it is always necessary to consider possible reactions of active substances with other drugs or chemicals. This is important in everyday life, and during pregnancy it is simply necessary due to the fact that some reactions can weaken the effect of the drugs taken, while others can be potentially dangerous to life and health.

Interactions of Magnelis B6 with other drugs are not dangerous. However, the instructions do not recommend combining the intake of drugs containing pyridoxine with levodopa, the active ingredient of some antiparkinsonian drugs. Such interaction reduces the effectiveness of the latter, although Parkinson's disease and its treatment are not a pressing problem for women of reproductive age.

The reaction of magnesium lactate and citrate with phosphates and calcium salts will not promote full absorption of magnesium. Therefore, such a combination of drugs is not recommended.

Magnesium preparations can reduce the absorption of iron, so it is not recommended to take them for a long time without a break.

It is not advisable to combine the intake of Magnelis B6 or its analogues with thrombolytics that can dissolve blood clots. The fact is that magnesium reduces the effectiveness of such drugs.

When taken simultaneously, the absorption of tetracyclines is also reduced, which should be taken into account if antibiotic therapy is necessary. The interval between taking magnesium-containing agents and tetracyclines should be at least 3 hours.

To replenish the body of the expectant mother with the vitamins and microelements necessary during this period, doctors often prescribe the multicomponent drug "Elevit Pronatal". But if you take "Elevit" and "Magnelis" simultaneously during pregnancy, you need to take into account that the first drug also contains magnesium (100 mg, although not in such an easily digestible form) and vitamin B6 (2.6 mg). The "Elevit" complex, specially developed for pregnant women, is taken in a standard dosage of 1 tablet per day. This means that it will be easier to adjust the dose of "Magnelis", limiting yourself to one tablet once a day or skipping the magnesium drug.

When taking any medication, you should always pay attention to the expiration date of the drug. In our case, it is 2 years, after which the drug is considered unsuitable for use for therapeutic or prophylactic purposes.

But in order for the drug to retain its properties during the shelf life, certain conditions must be met: store the medicine in a cool place with an air temperature of no more than 25 degrees and protect it from sunlight. If there are small children in the house, they must not have free access to the drugs, even if these are ordinary vitamins.

Analogues of Magnelis B6

"Magnelis B6" is a magnesium and vitamin B6 preparation of Russian manufacture. But due to the lack of active advertising support, it is considered less popular than "Magne B6" of the French manufacturer.

If you choose "Magne B6" or "Magnelis B6" in tablets during pregnancy, it should be said that in terms of the composition of active ingredients and their dosage, the drugs are complete analogues. Only auxiliary components may differ, which have no special relation to the process of replenishing magnesium deficiency.

The advantage of the drug "Magne B6" is the presence of an ampoule form with a high dosage of magnesium and pyridoxine, corresponding to the content of these substances in the tablet "Magnelis B6 Forte", which is also intended for oral administration and can be used to treat small children. Pregnant women can equally successfully use both "Magne B6" in ampoules and "Magnelis B6 Forte". There is no particular difference in the drugs, but the price will be significantly different.

The following are also considered to be complete analogues of the Russian "Magnelis B6":

  • Polish drugs "Magvit" and "Magnefar B6",
  • complexes of Ukrainian manufacturers "Magnikum" and "Magnemax",
  • Austrian granules for resorption "Magne Express" with a slightly reduced dosage (magnesium citrate - 300 mg, pyridoxine - 1.4 mg),
  • Russian dietary supplement from the famous company Evalar "Magnesium B6",
  • the Vietnamese-made drug "Magnistad", etc.

In addition to complex preparations, there are drugs that contain magnesium in the form of various compounds that are not enriched with vitamin B6. In the matter of choosing: magnesium or "Magnelis B6", the content of pyridoxine in the body is taken into account first of all. In some pathologies, such as cardiac ischemia, atherosclerosis, arteritis, it is preferable to take pure magnesium, and during pregnancy, when the need for both vitamins and microelements is increased, doctors recommend complex preparations in which magnesium is combined with vitamin B6.

This tandem works faster and more effectively when taken orally. But in the case of injection of magnesium, there is no longer a need for vitamin B6, which improves the absorption of the microelement in the gastrointestinal tract. Therefore, doctors themselves resort to the help of a monodrug, popularly called magnesia.

Reviews of the drug

Magnesium and pyridoxine preparations, so often prescribed during pregnancy, can hardly be called full-fledged medicines, so not all expectant mothers see the need for their use. Those who have already been given a list of necessary medicines are especially negative about such prescriptions. After all, if "Magnelis B6" does not treat pregnancy, but simply protects against possible complications, then why take extra medicines when you feel fine?

It is difficult to counter such skepticism with anything, because until we feel pain, the effect of the medicine will not be noticeable. Many women write that they were prescribed "Magnelis B6" and other magnesium preparations during their first, second and subsequent pregnancies, but they did not notice any difference between how the pregnancies proceeded when the doctor's orders were followed and those when women refused to take the "vitamins". Based on this, it was concluded that there is no particular need for "Magnelis" and the like.

The difference is usually noted by those who had problems with pregnancy in the form of increased uterine tone. Magnesium preparations helped prevent miscarriage, for which women are very grateful to doctors.

Those who are only planning a pregnancy are also not particularly keen on taking preventive medications, believing that they cannot have a magnesium deficiency, that their nerves are fine, which means that the pregnancy will go off without a hitch. Surprise comes with the problems that have arisen, and then women begin to realize the need to take vitamin and mineral supplements, although now for medicinal purposes to calm the nerves and relax the uterine muscles.

Mothers of many children often note that all their children were born differently. The sensations and well-being during pregnancy were different, which is simply impossible to predict. It is also difficult to predict how the pregnancy will proceed and whether problems will arise. There is no need to blame doctors for being overcautious, because they usually do not have extrasensory abilities and cannot foresee the future. Therefore, they prefer to prevent trouble than to deal with its consequences.

Those who, despite their fears, took the drug "Magnelis B6" before or during pregnancy, note that their nervous system malfunctioned much less often, they did not suffer from insomnia and more easily endured all the hardships of a woman's lot. Few can say that the drug did not help them maintain the pregnancy (and was it the drug, or maybe the threat of miscarriage was different), but there are a great many positive reviews from women who realized the danger of the situation, feeling pain in the lower abdomen and fear for the child.

Problematic childbirth in case of taking the drug was observed only when the dosage was exceeded in the last stages of pregnancy or as a result of long-term use of the drug. But the important fact remains that women, thanks to magnesium and vitamin B6, were able to complete their pregnancy and give birth to a healthy child. And how the birth went is a secondary issue. Even without magnesium, childbirth is far from always easy.

Doctors prescribe Magne B6 during pregnancy for a reason. This is not a whim or a desire to help pharmacies make a sales plan, but real help to modern women whose bodies are weakened by the environmental and psychological conditions of our lives. And if the body of the expectant mother is not able to ensure the normal course of pregnancy and childbirth, then magnesium preparations are a good chance to help it. The decision, of course, always remains with the woman herself, but when making it, it is always worthwhile to be guided first of all by the interests of the child. And he is interested in being born a full-fledged member of society.
