Hawthorn is a plant that is often used for therapeutic purposes. It is a shrub and belongs to the family of Rosaceae. Hawthorn grows in height from 3 to 5 meters on average. To use it in medical practice it began in the 17th century. Nowadays, the plant is widely used for therapeutic treatment of patients.   • insomnia.

The sedative effect of the plant is based on the fact that this drug leads the heart muscle to a relaxed state and reduces the level of pressure. Thus, hawthorn in pregnancy can be used as a sedative. It is also prescribed for swelling to remove excess fluid.

Useful properties of hawthorn

The plant as a whole is composed of such substances as:

  • iron;
  • zinc;
  • copper;
  • phosphorus;
  • calcium;
  • potassium;
  • cobalt;
  • magnesium;

There is a limited number of ways to consume hawthorn during pregnancy. They include:

  • broths (decoction of hawthorn in pregnancy are prepared in this way: 5 dried fruits are boiled for 15 minutes in 400 ml of boiling water, taken for the prevention of puffiness and for reducing the heart rate after the first meal and an hour before going to bed);
  • compotes (to influence the general condition, appoint compotes of dried fruits with the addition of hawthorn);
  • infusions of inflorescences on boiled water (for various purposes);
  • smoothies (for therapy for insomnia use an hour before going to bed a cocktail of banana, ch.l. Honey, tsp tincture of hawthorn, 2 tsp kefir);
  • tea (dogrose and hawthorn during pregnancy in equal proportions brewed in the form of tea and used to strengthen the immune system).

Contraindications

Contraindications include:

  • hypersensitivity to plant components;
  • toxicosis;
  • VSD;
  • extrasystole;
  • atrial tachyarrhythmia;
  • tachycardia;
  • atherosclerosis.
