Can you drink glycine during pregnancy?
All this is very useful for situations in which a pregnant woman finds herself. Glycine can be taken during pregnancy, but only as prescribed by a doctor.
Glycine is an amino acid found in human tissues. When glycine is taken, metabolic processes are activated, which protects neurons from being affected by toxins and free radicals. This provides inhibition of the central nervous system. Adrenaline, which is responsible for the excitation of the central nervous system, is not passed to neurons with the help of glycine. It also increases the gamma-aminobutyric acid in neurons. This also has the effect of inhibiting the central nervous system.
Glycine improves glucose absorption. Due to this, more energy in the cells activates metabolism - its different types. This is, for example, protein metabolism, which serves to restore nerve cells. Toxic substances are eliminated in the cells of the woman's brain, the stimulating effect of adrenaline is reduced and everything works according to the schemes that were relevant before pregnancy. Due to this, excitement is removed, calmness comes, mental performance is activated and at the same time the processes of falling asleep and night sleep are restored.
Glycine during pregnancy in the context of the peculiarities of the neuropsychic state
During pregnancy, the expectant mother's hormonal background changes, which is why all the internal organs and systems of the pregnant woman also begin to function somewhat differently. The central nervous system experiences the most changes. Everything depends on the individual characteristics of each organism. In some pregnant women, their external manifestations and interactions with the outside world do not undergo changes, while in others, one can observe an almost complete change in character. Pregnant women often become vulnerable and vulnerable, taking everything "close to heart." Capriciousness, quarrelsomeness, even aggressiveness - all this often begins to manifest itself even in previously calm and balanced women.
This period is characterized by the presence of constant fears, especially about the future baby, its health, etc. A typical feature of fears during pregnancy is their irrationality.
Because of this, the pregnant woman either loses sleep completely or sleeps very little. There is either a lack of appetite, or the other extreme - fear and stress are "eaten away" with food.
Being in such an unhealthy mental state does not promise a beneficial effect on the body of the expectant mother and her baby. As a rule, the first thing recommended for such problems is proper nutrition, adjusting the daily routine, walking in the fresh air, therapeutic exercises, an atmosphere of rest and tranquility. However, when none of these measures have an effect on the condition of the pregnant woman, then drug therapy is indicated. To calm down, take herbal infusions (valerian, motherwort), the only thing is not to take alcohol-containing tinctures. And, in fact, glycine is often prescribed as drug therapy.
How to take glycine during pregnancy?
Glycine is a sublingual tablet. It is usually prescribed in a dosage of half - one tablet two or three times a day. The period during which a pregnant woman needs to take glycine is determined by her attending physician. The dosage can also change depending on the condition of the pregnant woman and taking into account the individual characteristics of her body. All this is also determined by a specialist.
Glycine forte during pregnancy
Glycine forte is slightly different from regular glycine during pregnancy. Glycine forte is a biologically active supplement, not a medicine. In regular glycine, the active substance in one tablet is 100 mg, in glycine forte it is often 300 mg. Therefore, this product provides a double dose of glycine for the body. But the principle that the more, the better does not work here, but just the opposite. Also, glycine contains twice as much B vitamins (incorrect dosage of two of them can lead to hypervitaminosis, characterized by the presence of severe clinical manifestations, even coma is possible).
Is it possible to take glycine when planning pregnancy?
Is it possible to take glycine when planning a pregnancy - another question that interests many expectant mothers. If you take this drug before pregnancy, it will not affect it in any way later.
In general, glycine can be taken during pregnancy, the main thing is to follow the instructions and directions of the attending physician. And if stress and nervous tension bother you, so that they do not affect the health of the baby, glycine should be taken during pregnancy.

Contraindications to the use of glycine during pregnancy
Experts insist that glycine should not be taken on one's own initiative; it must be prescribed by a doctor after assessing the condition of the pregnant woman. The official contraindication is hypersensitivity to its composition. If there is a suspicion of this, glycine is contraindicated due to possible severe allergic reactions.
It is worth remembering that glycine lowers blood pressure by suppressing the effects of adrenaline (which constricts blood vessels and increases blood pressure). A pregnant woman already experiences fluctuations in blood pressure, often very significant. If the expectant mother has low blood pressure or is prone to it, as well as strong fluctuations, then the doctor will most likely not prescribe glycine. High doses of the drug can cause a collapse state and even fainting. In this case, not only the pregnant woman but also her baby is at risk. When blood flows to the brain in insufficient quantities, this can lead to disorders due to a lack of oxygen supplied to the brain (hypoxia). Long-term exposure to hypoxia can contribute to irreversible changes in the central nervous system of the fetus and intrauterine developmental disorders.
