The berries can be used to make tea or can be presented in the form of a tablet, capsule or liquid tincture. Most formulations evaluated in the course of clinical trials are hexane extracts of palm kernel berries, which are 80-90% basic fatty acids and phytosterols.

The claimed effect of the Sereno palm

A convincing proof of the useful properties of the plant is its use for the treatment of symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia. There is no evidence that the drug completely cures hyperplasia. The mechanism is unknown, but may be due to the inhibition of the conversion of testosterone to dihydro-testosterone. The dose is 320 mg once a day or 160 mg 2 times a day.

Adverse effects of the Sereno palm

There may be headache and diarrhea, but no other serious adverse effects are reported. Serum palm can interact with estrogens.
