Development of newborns

Human development after birth

Human growth continues during the first 20-22 years of life. Then, up to 60-65 years, body length remains almost unchanged. However, in old and senile age (after 70 years), due to changes in body posture, thinning of the intervertebral discs, and flattening of the arches of the feet, body length decreases by 1.0-1.5 cm annually.

The child is late to speak

Already after the first few months of life, linguistic (speech) differentiation occurs. At this time, Chinese babbling children are quite clearly distinguished from European babbling infants. At the age of up to a year, such "babblers" already produce combinations of sounds that are similar to words, but have no meaning.

Child stunting

Stunting is defined as a child's height being less than the 3rd percentile. If both parents are short, it is logical to expect that the child will also be short - constitutional causes of short stature account for approximately 80% of children with stunting.

Child growth and weight loss

The ability to grow and develop is of the utmost importance in childhood. Whenever possible, the child's height and weight should be measured and a chart should be made. This will make any growth retardation obvious.

Newborn examination

The purpose of the examination is to detect any pathology or to identify any “medical problems”, as well as to remove any questions from the mother and difficulties that she has encountered when communicating with her child.
