In our bustling age of widespread introduction of innovative technologies, the still relevant problem of hair loss may seem inappropriate. However, advertising of super-effective means of solving this problem often greatly overstates the capabilities of cosmetic developments in the form of shampoos, balms, masks, restorative sprays, etc. Many buyers have realized from their own experience that cosmetic products are not able to solve most dermatological issues, which means that the medical problem must be fought with special treatments, and not those that only temporarily mask the defect. In this regard, the Selencin medical cosmetics for hair, despite the rather high price, attracts more and more fans among those whose attractiveness is at risk due to abundant hair loss of their formerly lush hair.
Indications Selencin for hair
It must be said that we ourselves are largely to blame for the problems with the “fur” cover of the receptacle of the mind, which protects our brain from overheating and hypothermia and at the same time forms a unique and inimitable image of each person. Irrational, depleted of vitamins and minerals, but abundantly supplied with chemical flavor additives, and often irregular nutrition, an abundance of self-created stressful situations, susceptibility to fashion trends that require the use of aggressive hair coloring agents - this is only a modest list of our “sins”, which do not have the best effect on the condition of our hair.
It is also worth considering the changeability of fashion in wearing hats, as a result of which the hair often experiences the harsh influence of the sun's rays in the summer and hypothermia, which does not contribute to the health of the scalp (and everything else), in the cold season.
And, of course, the environmental situation, which in most regions leaves much to be desired and is often downright critical, is not left aside. At the same time, we all understand that the environment in which we live and the air we breathe are the creation of our hands - the result of the development of industry and science.
It is difficult to even imagine the multi-component formula of what we breathe and, accordingly, our hair, which, with the exception of hair follicles, is in the external environment. And we also regularly "poison" our hair with chemicals in dyes and low-quality shampoos, which penetrate the skin and negatively affect the hair follicles, which are already experiencing the consequences of a deficiency of nutrients due to the dietary preferences of modern man.
Based on all of the above, it becomes clear that hair loss is a direct and entirely predictable result of our lifestyle, the price we pay for the development of human civilization, which, having chosen the right direction, uses potentially dangerous, but profitable methods.
If earlier the problem of hair loss worried mainly older people (mostly men), today even children suffer from it. With the exception of situations when the pathological process was caused by hormonal disorders or autoimmune or hereditary alopecia, as well as cases of cicatricial changes in the scalp after burns and injuries. More and more women are turning to dermatologists and trichologists, realizing that one of the important aspects of their attractiveness is in a precarious state or is subject to self-destruction.
The causes of hair loss can be different, and most of them are within the competence of the medical hair cosmetics produced under the name "Selencin". In other words, the indications for the use of shampoo and other medical products of this brand include diffuse (widespread) hair loss caused by:
- negative impact of external factors, i.e. environmental factors,
- poor nutrition,
- the use of aggressive hair dyes and hair wash products (often of dubious quality), curling irons and tongs, hairsprays,
- damage to the integrity of hair follicles during combing,
- pregnancy and breastfeeding,
- the influence of stress factors, etc.
It is clear that medical and cosmetic external products cannot treat the body from the inside, and to obtain a lasting result, it is often necessary to resort to complex effects in parallel with measures aimed at minimizing the impact of factors that provoke hair loss. For example, in case of baldness caused by stress, it is necessary to restore the normal psycho-emotional state, and "Selencin" will be a means of providing rehabilitation of the scalp and hair, i.e. their return to normal functioning.
If the cause is poor nutrition and a lack of nutrients necessary for hair, first of all, you need to saturate the body with the missing components. These components are available in various forms of Selencin cosmetics and with their correct selection, including both external and internal means, hair can often be restored without additional treatment.
Sometimes it is not even about nutrition, but about the incorrect distribution of nutrients in the body. This is observed during pregnancy and breastfeeding, when the mother's body is primarily configured to provide the child with everything necessary, and she herself may be left with only crumbs, which are not enough to maintain the normal functioning of the entire body. Skin and hair are not considered vital organs, so the body first of all saves on them. But "Selencin" helps in this situation, too, delivering the components necessary for the vital activity of hair directly to the hair follicles, so they do not go to the side.
In some cases, when a person is generally healthy, it is enough to use scalp care and hair treatment products from the Selencin brand, in others, additional treatment of the body is required to achieve a lasting result: nervous, endocrine, digestive, excretory and other systems.
For example, hair loss caused by hormonal imbalances, which affects both women and men, cannot be stopped even by using the entire Selencin complex. Selencin can only be used as an auxiliary means to activate hair growth against the background of effective hormonal therapy, the use of additional physiotherapeutic methods, etc. It must be said that even a comprehensive approach to the treatment of baldness caused by hormonal reasons does not always give positive results, so it is not worth placing any hopes on Selencin in this situation.
Release form
Most often we hear about an effective medicinal shampoo for hair called "Selencin", so it seems that the product has a single form of release and it becomes unclear how it can help with internal problems. But medical specialists who treat skin and hair have more complete information about this product.
In fact, Selencin is not just a shampoo, but a whole series of hair treatment products united by one name. This series is often referred to as an effective restorative system that includes:
- a complex of strengthening shampoo and conditioner "Hair Therapy",
- hair mask of the same line,
- spray (also called strengthening lotion) for hair care prone to hair loss,
- lotion (restoring peptide complex) for weakened hair (including androgenic alopecia)
- tablets, or so-called homeopathic vitamins to restore the health of the scalp and hair in a natural way.
Despite the same name, the various products included in the Selencin series have different compositions, but they are selected in such a way that the entire complex of components of any of the products performs one important function - restoration of the scalp.
Compound
The Selencin hair restoration system was developed by Alcoy-Pharm, a leader in the health products market. Cosmetologists, scientists and doctors worked on its creation, trying to develop a product based on natural components that would be as effective as medicinal "chemistry".
Selencin shampoo for hair is a therapeutic, restorative and cleansing product for scalp and hair care, which contains biologically active substances of French production (anageline, activating the respiration of the scalp and its enrichment with oxygen, and seveov, improving the blood supply to the hair follicle and protecting it from negative external influences). Both active substances are of natural origin, they are derivatives of plants (lupine or wolf bean and Peruvian maca or Meyen's bugleweed), which have a rich supply of vitamins, microelements, proteins and other nutrients necessary for the formation and growth of hair. [ 1 ]
The auxiliary components are plants (their extracts) known in our region, such as burdock, mint and nettle, pepper extract, which have long been used by people to strengthen and stimulate hair growth. The shampoo also contains: menthol, caffeine, vitamin H (aka biotin), vitamins A and E, a collagen-containing compound and other substances that ensure the preservation of the product's properties and its soaping and washing qualities. [ 2 ]
Hair balm "Selencin" - a product similar in its medicinal composition to shampoo and has the same properties, but without a soap base. Like any hair rinse, it is used in addition to shampoo. The content of panthenol helps to heal microtraumas on the skin and protect it from the negative impact of environmental factors between care procedures.
Strengthening hair spray "Selencin" - a convenient to use leave-in form of strengthening lotion based on 9% anagelin with the addition of hop and nettle extracts, menthol, vitamins A and H, keratin, collagen, caffeine (a powerful hair growth stimulator with an antioxidant effect). It is easy to apply and distribute on the scalp, unlike shampoo and conditioner does not require rinsing, which means it has a longer (prolonged) healing effect. The high content of anagelin helps in the fight against androgenic alopecia. [ 3 ], [ 4 ], [ 5 ]
Peptide lotion "Selencin" in ampoules - this product not only strengthens hair with its diffuse loss, but also, according to advertising, helps treat androgenic alopecia - a hormone-dependent form of the disease, which is characterized by thinning and loss of hair under the influence of androgens, which are present in both male and female bodies (albeit in different concentrations). In other words, this is a product for restoring hair density by restoring its normal structure.
The product contains the patented peptide (protein) complex Procapil®, the healing complex Capilectine™ SP and the antioxidant component demethylaminoethanol, which acts similarly to mesotherapy and slows down the aging of coli cells and hair follicles. The product also contains extracts of an American plant called saw palmetto and a well-known brain stimulant from China, ginkgo biloba. [ 6 ], [ 7 ], [ 8 ]
Hair mask "Selencin" - a product from the series of medical cosmetics for preventing hair loss and brittleness. In its composition we find 2 effective natural hair growth stimulants: anagelin and caffeine, red pepper extract, burdock and nettle extracts, keratin, collagen, as well as vitamin E, panthenol and allantoin (components that improve the condition of the scalp, prevent skin diseases, relieve skin irritation and increase its protective properties). [ 9 ], [ 10 ]
Tablets of the Selencin brand, which combines products for the treatment of scalp and hair, are a means of stimulating the internal forces of the body, which is typical for most homeopathic preparations. This is a multi-component remedy, including substances developed and dosed by homeopaths in such a way that their combined action performs the assigned functions - improving nutrition and breathing of hair, as well as reducing inactive dormant follicles by transferring them to the active phase (growth phase).
What homeopathic components are included in the tablets? These are lycopodium, thalium aceticum, silicea, alumina, selenium, sodium chloratum, and potassium phosphoricum. Separately, and more often in combinations, these drugs are used to treat various diseases, but in this case the emphasis is on their combined effect on the scalp and hair follicles.
All products of the Selencin hair health series are sufficiently enriched with vitamins and microelements that help improve the condition of the scalp and hair, so additional oral multivitamin complexes are usually not required. However, everything depends on the causes of baldness and hair thinning, the condition of the scalp, the degree of neglect of the process and some other factors that doctors take into account when prescribing treatment.
When recommending the Selencin restorative system, they rely on the etiology of the underlying disease, so combinations of various products from this series may differ, as may other prescriptions in complex therapy.
Pharmacodynamics
To understand what effect the Selencin treatment series and each of the individual products in the series have on the scalp and hair follicles, you need to carefully read the components that make up their composition.
It should be said that the Russian-made health complex is based on unique developments of famous cosmetology laboratories in France (Silab, Naturex), and French medical and decorative cosmetics are highly valued throughout the world. The mineral components in it are reinforced by the action of organic compounds that enhance and potentiate the effect of the proposed products for hair care and treatment.
Among the mineral components, special attention should be paid to silicon and selenium compounds. They promote the division (reproduction) of keratinocytes in the epithelium of hair follicles and improve metabolism in the hair papilla, which is responsible for the condition and growth of hair, as well as the formation of new follicles, i.e. for the thickness of the hair. The death of the hair papilla definitely leads to the death of the hair, and in order to stop this process, it is necessary to eliminate the cause of the destructive effect, and restore microcirculation in the scalp (this will improve the nutrition and respiration of the hair follicles, slow down their aging and restore the functionality of the hair papilla).
The pharmacodynamics of the Selencin series is considered in close connection with the peculiarities of hair life. Studying the hair life cycle and the factors that influence its formation and development has enabled scientists to select components that can positively affect hair growth and promote its strengthening.
In its development, human hair goes through 3 main phases: anagen, catagen, telogen. Living, growing, healthy hair is the part of the hair that is in the anagen stage, which lasts from 2 to 6 years. In an ordinary healthy person, more than 80% of the hair is in this stage, which ensures sufficient hair density.
The catagen stage is the so-called transition period between the growth and rest phases (lasts about 2-3 weeks), which is characterized by the gradual death of the hair papilla cells, after which the hair either falls out on its own or is easily removed from the inactive keratinized bulb with the slightest mechanical impact. Less than 2% of our hair is in this stage every day.
Usually no more than 20% of hair remains in the resting phase (telogen). This phase lasts about 3 months, during which the hair rests and prepares for its active phase.
Negative influence from outside or from your own body can change not only the condition of the scalp, but also the balance of hairs in different stages of development (there is much less hair in anagen), shorten the growth phase and extend the period of low hair activity. But often, to restore the attractiveness of the hair, it is not enough to just remove these factors, you need restorative measures for the skin containing hair follicles and responsible for their nutrition and breathing thanks to the network of small blood vessels that penetrate it.
It cannot be said that "Selencin" affects all causes of hair loss, but it successfully combats the consequences of their impact. The medicinal products of this series have a dermatotropic and sebum-regulating effect. Dermatotropic action is associated with the activation of regenerative processes in the scalp, restoration of damaged epithelium and its properties. Sebum-regulating action is associated with the correction of the sebaceous glands, as a result of which inflammation, itching and peeling of individual areas of the scalp, where sebum secretion was impaired, go away, normal moisture of the scalp and hair structure are restored.
Therapeutic hair cosmetics "Selencin" have a stimulating effect on hair growth, due to which the change of phases of the hair life cycle is accelerated (most hairs in a shorter time pass from the telogen phase to the anagen phase). "Selencin" products improve blood supply to the hair follicle shell, due to which the blood supplies them with a sufficient amount of oxygen and nutrients. The products contain components that facilitate the flow of nutrients and medicinal substances through the skin. "Selencin" in tablets also helps to normalize the psycho-emotional state, somewhat corrects the hormonal background, ensures normal nervous regulation of hair development. It can be said that the "Selencin" series provides both external and internal beneficial effects on the skin and hair.
How can we explain the multi-component structure of the Selencin series products and such a positive attitude towards them from doctors? Almost all components of the shampoo, balm, lotions, mask, tablets provide a therapeutic and caring effect, mutually enhancing the effects. Let's consider the action of the most active substances in the composition of the products.
The Anageline® complex is a substance that inhibits the conversion of the male hormone testosterone into dihydrotestosterone, which is considered to be the culprit in the reduction of hair follicles, their atrophy, accompanied by thinning and hair loss. This is the mechanism of development of androgenic alopecia, which affects not only many men, but also some representatives of the fair sex.
The ability of the Selencin series products to combat the manifestations of androgenic alopecia largely depends on the concentration of anagelin: the higher it is, the more effective the product. The greatest effectiveness in androgen-dependent alopecia is demonstrated by the Selencin lotions. The spray contains the highest concentration of anagelin among all products, and the peptide lotion is enriched with saw palmetto extract, which also helps with hormone-dependent alopecia.
This component has an effect similar to the drug Finasteride, used in the treatment of prostate hyperplasia and baldness in the stronger sex. Among other things, Anageline® increases the duration of anagen, stimulates blood circulation in the scalp and oxygen delivery to the hair follicles. In other words, we can say that this component prevents early hair loss, makes hair stronger and more resilient, improves the general condition of the skin and scalp.
The Sеveov™ complex promotes the compaction of collagen fibers that control the density and moisture content of the scalp and hair, which reduces the risk of hair loss, increases the cellular activity of follicles, thereby ensuring intensive hair growth (in laboratory conditions, this figure approached 93%), and protects hair from the negative impact of external and internal factors.
Peptide complex is a development that helps improve metabolic processes in skin cells. This in turn accelerates the transition of hair follicles from telogen to the first stage of anagen and stimulates subsequent active hair growth during this phase, at the same time increasing its duration, slows down the aging of follicles.
DMAE is a substance with antioxidant action, which also has an anti-inflammatory effect in dermatological problems. Its function is to slow down the aging process of hair follicles and skin cells, stimulate oxygen exchange and maintain energy balance.
Caffeine is a substance known as a natural hair growth stimulant and a powerful antioxidant that reduces the harmful effects of free radicals that contribute to the destruction of vitamins and other substances necessary for the body. The action of caffeine is aimed at increasing the supply of nutrients to the hair follicles, increasing the duration of the active stage of hair development, and preventing premature hair loss.
Thanks to collagen hydrolyzate, the hair's shell and internal structures are restored, which reduces fragility and the likelihood of hair splitting, improves elasticity and gives it a healthy shine. Keratin (a specific protein found in hair), enhancing and potentiating the effect of collagen, envelops the hair shaft, penetrating inside and helping to restore its structures.
Their action is complemented by allantoin, a substance with a softening and gentle exfoliating effect, maintaining an optimal level of skin hydration and the necessary moisture concentration in the hair. Allantoin helps remove "dead" epidermal cells and activates regenerative processes in the skin, due to which peeling goes away, old keratinized layers are replaced by active young ones and small wounds on the head are healed.
Biotin is a vitamin that takes an active part in the synthesis of its own keratin, stimulates proliferation (division and reproduction) of cells, participates in nutrition, moisturizing and maintaining the elastic properties of hair. An effective remedy in the fight against split ends and hair fragility.
Vitamin A is a substance that improves the condition of the scalp, regulates sebum secretion, activates growth and gives strength to hair, protects hair from negative external influences. Deficiency of this vitamin is considered one of the reasons for hair loss and increased fragility.
Vitamin E is one of the known powerful antioxidants that improves the condition of the skin and hair nutrition. It improves blood supply to the scalp and hair follicles, moisturizes, softens and protects hair from harmful ultraviolet radiation and other negative factors. It is believed that vitamin E can restore damaged hair.
Vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid, also known as panthenol) has a calming and protective effect on the scalp, maintains elasticity and shine of hair, and ensures the preservation of the properties and structure of hair under the influence of negative environmental factors.
Red pepper extract is an excellent antioxidant and a popular warming agent that provides blood flow to the affected areas. This component improves blood supply to hair follicles, reduces hair oiliness, and promotes the penetration of other medicinal and vitamin components into the scalp.
Hop extract is an extract from the cones of a medicinal plant, which ensures the normalization of the sebaceous glands, promotes the saturation of all structural components of the hair with vitamins and minerals. At the same time, the appearance of the hair is noticeably improved, the likelihood of hair loss due to the early transition to catagen and telogen is reduced.
Menthol (mint extract) refreshes and relaxes the scalp, prevents spasm of the blood vessels that feed the epidermis, improves nutrition of hair follicles, and provides an antipruritic effect.
Nettle is a source of mineral salts, iron, vitamin C, and gum (used in cosmetics for effective moisturizing and protection of skin and hair) that are beneficial for skin and hair. The plant promotes strengthening and growth of hair, and is used as protection against split ends and brittleness.
Burdock extract contains many biologically active components (inulin, peptides, mineral salts, fatty acids, flavonoids (natural antibiotics), tannins, etc.). Due to this, it helps to activate metabolism in the scalp and hair follicles, intensive growth of young hair, preservation of its structure and properties by stimulating the production of keratin protein and the formation of special cells - keratinocytes.
Saw palmetto extract is a substance used to treat androgenic alopecia. Dihydrotestosterone, formed by the enzyme 5-alpha reductase, penetrates into the hair follicles, causing their atrophy (reduction with loss of function). Thus, it shortens the life cycle of the hair. Sensitivity to sex hormones, and in particular to the testosterone derivative, is determined genetically, but it can be somewhat reduced by using saw palmetto extract.
Ginkgo biloba extract is a circulatory stimulant that improves nutrition and respiration of hair follicles, thereby maintaining their functionality. This increases the lifespan of the hair, improves its properties (strength and elasticity), appearance.
All components in the Selencin series of hair products are safe for people of all ages, so they can be used by both adults and children.
Most of the products in the health complex are applied externally and do not penetrate into the deep layers of the skin, subcutaneous tissue and blood, so their pharmacokinetics are not considered by the manufacturer.
Homeopathic tablets "Selencin", although intended for oral administration, contain minimal dosages of active substances, the metabolism and distribution of which in the body are not capable of causing significant changes in the organs and tissues of the internal environment. Considering also the absence of a negative effect of the drug on the organs of excretion and hematopoiesis, information on the pharmacokinetics of the tablets is also not provided.
Dosing and administration
Therapeutic cosmetics "Selencin" is a series of hair care and health products that help solve the problem of diffuse baldness and in some way contribute to the restoration of hair in androgenic alopecia. The choice of products for the treatment of skin and hair should be based on the condition of the scalp, medical diagnosis, and recommendations of specialists.
If you are not put off by the cost of the products in this series, they can be used for preventive purposes, especially when it comes to shampoo, conditioner or mask "Selencin". To prevent premature hair loss, these products can be used separately or in combination. For the treatment of diffuse alopecia, the combined use of these and some other products from the "Selencin" series is recommended.
Hair shampoo is used to strengthen hair and prevent its premature loss. It contains components that increase the duration of the active phase of hair development, thereby maintaining normal hair density with regular physiologically determined hair change.
The shampoo should be used as the hair gets dirty (daily if necessary), applying the required amount to your hands, lathering and transferring the soap foam to your hair. Using active but gentle massaging movements, distribute the shampoo through your hair and leave for a few minutes. After this, the product can be washed off your head with warm water. If the hair is not cleaned sufficiently, repeat the procedure.
The effect of the shampoo is enhanced by subsequent use of a conditioner with a strengthening and softening effect. The conditioner, like the shampoo, reduces the intensity of hair loss, regulates its moisture, prevents tangling and facilitates combing.
Apply the conditioner after washing your hair with shampoo. Clean hair should be lightly blotted with a towel to remove excess moisture. Then squeeze a small amount of the conditioner onto your palm and distribute it over your hair. To achieve the stated effect, leave the conditioner on your hair for 2-3 minutes, then rinse it thoroughly with warm water.
You can use the balm every time after using the shampoo of the Selencin series or another brand of hair detergent. You can use the shampoo and balm Selencin every day, but the mask of the same series should be used no more than 2 times a week.
The Selencin hair mask helps to normalize the water-fat balance, strengthens and nourishes the hair, prolongs its active life, and facilitates easy combing of the hair. It should be applied to washed, moistened (not wet) hair, distributing it over the hair and scalp. The product should remain on the head for 10-15 minutes, after which it is thoroughly washed off with warm, clean water, trying to avoid contact with the eyes (contains red pepper and causes severe burning when it comes into contact with the mucous membranes).
If shampoo, conditioner and mask can be considered as therapeutic and prophylactic means for diffuse non-hormonal alopecia, then Selencin lotions are considered a full-fledged therapeutic agent for symptomatic therapy. Of course, it is unlikely that androgen-dependent alopecia can be cured with the help of only one lotion, but regular use of the product in combination with other products of the series helps to maintain attractive hair with a hereditary predisposition to baldness. However, if you refuse to use therapeutic cosmetics, the problem usually returns.
Lotion-spray "Selencin" is recommended for strengthening hair by activating collagen production and introducing it from the outside. The high content of anagelin allows using it to combat the manifestations of androgenic alopecia. Particularly good results are visible with the complex use of lotion, shampoo and spray.
The spray should be used regularly before going to bed. Shake the spray bottle beforehand and spray the product from a distance of 15-20 cm onto the scalp and hair roots. For better absorption, it is recommended to gently massage the application area. There is no need to rinse the product off.
To achieve a lasting effect, the lotion should be used daily for at least 2 months. Subsequently, the frequency of use can be reduced. In the case of androgen-dependent alopecia, the spray can be used as part of complex therapy, which gives a greater chance of hair restoration.
The peptide lotion "Selencin" differs from the firming lotion both in design and composition. It does not contain anagelin and its effectiveness against androgenic alopecia is provided by the extract of dwarf saw palmetto. The indications for use of this product are the same as for other products in the series, but the use is somewhat different.
The lotion has an unusual packaging: ampoules containing 5 ml of the product. Before use, shake them and break the spout (there is a special mark) by turning the lid. Extract the composition by pressing your fingers on the soft body of the ampoule. Use your fingers to apply the product to dry scalp and hair roots.
The consumption of the product depends on the size of the affected area, but usually half of the contents of 1 ampoule is enough for one treatment (there is a 2.5 ml indicator). The lotion remaining in the ampoule is used the next time, hermetically sealing the ampoule with a lid after use (an opened and sealed ampoule can be stored for a year).
After applying the lotion to the root zone, it should be gently massaged into the scalp and left on until completely absorbed. There is no need to wash off the lotion.
The peptide lotion can be used both in combination and separately from other products of the Selencin series. The duration of use to obtain the stated effect should be at least 4 months. The ampoule packaging is designed for a monthly course of use, if the product is used once a day.
Selencin tablets are used according to the rules for taking homeopathic remedies. They are intended for the treatment of alopecia in adults. They are usually prescribed 1 tablet 3 times a day. In this case, the tablets do not need to be chewed and swallowed, they are recommended to be kept under the tongue until completely dissolved.
It is recommended to take the tablets outside of meals (half an hour before or at least an hour after meals). On average, the drug is prescribed in a 4-week course, followed by a 7-day break, and the course is repeated. If necessary, a repeat 2-stage course of treatment with Selencin can be prescribed after a month. Everything depends on the diagnosis, the severity of the process, and the individual characteristics of the patient's body.
The homeopathic preparation "Selencin" in a form corresponding to most of the drugs of this plan, i.e. in the form of granules, is prescribed to patients over 2 years old. The children's dose is from 3 to 5 granules. Patients over 10 years old can take 5-8 granules. The exact dosage and frequency of administration (usually 3-5 times a day) is determined by a homeopathic doctor.
The duration of treatment with homeopathic granules is 1-1.5 years or more. At the same time, after each month of treatment, you need to take a break for 1 week.
Most often, taking tablets and granules is combined with the use of external agents of the Selencin series to ensure a comprehensive therapeutic effect.
Strict dosages of external agents, with the exception of the peptide lotion, are not specified in the instructions for Selencin products. The amount of shampoo, balm, lotion, mask used depends on the thickness and length of the hair, its oiliness and contamination.
The annotation to the peptide lotion indicates the recommended doses, but if necessary, they can be increased without negative consequences. It must be said that given the high cost of hair care products of this brand, it is unlikely that anyone will want to waste it, given that the effect will not improve. And cases of using lotions twice a day did not affect the effect of treatment or the health of people using Selencin.
There have been no reports of overdosing on Selencin tablets during their entire existence on the market. The content of active substances in homeopathic preparations is extremely small, so poisoning with them is rather an exception.
"Selencin" for children
Therapeutic hair cosmetics "Selencin" is a bright example of cosmetic products that do not provide age limits. The health effect in it is provided by natural components, and not medicinal chemistry, which can be harmful to children or the elderly.
The use of any of the external cosmetic products "Selencin" for children is the same as for adults. However, the need to use medicinal lotions and masks arises extremely rarely, because alopecia in childhood is considered a rare phenomenon, not to mention its androgen-dependent form, which rarely debuts at the age of 11-12. Usually, hair thinning in a child is provoked by a lack of vitamins and minerals, taking certain medications, fungal infection of the scalp (ringworm), radiation, burns, gastrointestinal diseases, as a result of which the body does not receive the necessary micro- and macroelements, systemic infectious diseases.
According to statistics, diffuse or focal baldness at an early age is found in only 3% of children, and most often it is temporary (unless it is genetics, a burn injury or an autoimmune pathology). In most cases, it is enough to treat the underlying disease, introduce vitamins and minerals into the diet, and also treat the scalp with the help of the Selencin series or its analogues.
As part of a comprehensive treatment for baldness in children, Selencin shampoo and conditioner are most often prescribed, and if hair loss is the result of mental trauma, homeopathic granules of the same series (an effective dosage is prescribed by a pediatrician or homeopath). The use of other products in the series is possible only on the recommendation of a doctor, who should rely on the true cause of the child's baldness and his age.
Use Selencin for hair during pregnancy
The products of the Selencin series for scalp and hair do not contain components that can harm human health. This applies to people of different ages and situations. Most of the products of the series are intended for external use. Their active ingredients practically do not penetrate into the blood, having a local effect, and therefore cannot affect the condition and well-being of those who use hair cosmetics.
Sedentsin cosmetics are intended for scalp and hair care, so all products, except tablets, are used strictly in the scalp area. The only irritating factor may be the smell, sensitivity to which is strictly individual.
Everything suggests that with normal tolerance of the smell of the products (most often they talk about a light smell of coffee), Selencin cosmetics can in no way affect the health of the expectant mother, the course of her pregnancy, or the development of the fetus.
There are no contraindications to the use of cosmetics during breastfeeding, because the active and auxiliary substances of cosmetics do not penetrate into the blood, and especially into breast milk. These cosmetics are no more dangerous than cosmetics of any other brand of care products and are much safer than some medicinal shampoos (for example, anti-lice products).
But you should be careful with Selencin tablets. There are no direct contraindications for their use during pregnancy and lactation, but even doctors prefer to play it safe, prescribing the drug only in cases where the fetus is developing well and nothing threatens the course of pregnancy. Still, hair loss in an expectant mother is not a life-threatening situation, except that it can provoke nervous breakdowns in some emotionally unstable women, which can lead to spontaneous abortion. In this case, it makes sense to stabilize the condition of the expectant mother and help her solve the problem of baldness with the help of medications, including Selencin tablets.
When breastfeeding, everything that the mother eats can get into the breast milk, including the active ingredients of the drugs. With the mother's milk, this also gets into the baby's body, and the question arises whether the baby needs everything that the mother takes. Most doctors believe that even relatively safe homeopathic drugs should not be taken by those who breastfeed unless absolutely necessary, or the question of the possibility of switching the baby to artificial feeding will have to be decided.
Contraindications
Even the safest medicines have at least one contraindication for use. All products of the Selencin hair health system have such a contraindication.
We are talking about a phenomenon called individual intolerance or hypersensitivity to a cosmetic product, when contact with it causes undesirable reactions. When it comes to smell, reactions may differ only in strength: from aversion to the aroma to serious allergic (nasal congestion, runny nose, sneezing) and anaphylactic (angioedema) reactions. The latter are an exception in relation to cosmetics applied externally.
Hypersensitivity may also manifest itself in direct contact between cosmetics and human skin in the form of redness, itching and rash. Most often, consumers complain of itching and flaking of the scalp (dandruff). If such symptoms appear, the product is not recommended for use.
It should be said that in relation to multi-component preparations and cosmetics, increased sensitivity usually manifests itself to one, less often two or more components, and not to the entire product as a whole. If a person knows his irritating factor, it is worth using only those cosmetics that do not contain it. If this factor is in the shampoo "Selencin", but is absent in the lotion or mask, you should give preference to the latter, using shampoo of another brand or use another therapeutic series of hair cosmetics.
Another point to consider when prescribing homeopathic tablets "Selencin". They contain lactose, so if you have a lactose metabolism disorder, the drug cannot be used.
Homeopathic remedies "Selencin" should be used in accordance with the prescription. Tablets are not used in pediatric practice, and granules are allowed from 2 years of age.
Of the side effects of Selencin cosmetics, including tablets, only possible allergic reactions and a coffee smell are mentioned, which not everyone likes. There are also mentions of a feeling of stickiness and unkempt hair after using the peptide lotion (this feeling is subjective and usually appears in those who use the product not only in the evening, according to the instructions, but also in the morning).
Interactions with other drugs
The generally accepted norm in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industry is the presence of annotations or information on the use and storage of manufactured products. Such information is also on the packaging of the Selencin series of products for hair. This norm is not accidental, because the effect declared by the manufacturer is possible only if the products of the therapeutic series are used correctly.
Since Selencin external products are not considered full-fledged medicines, there are no indications on the packaging about their interaction with other drugs, i.e. medicines and substances that can cause negative reactions. The absence of this point indicates that no significant interaction between Selencin cosmetics and any other cosmetic or medicines has been observed, which means there are no restrictions on the combination of different products.
Although cosmetologists still insist that a greater effect can be achieved by using hair and skin care products of the same brand or series, rather than combining cosmetics from different manufacturers.
Selencin tablets and granules are considered homeopathic medicines, but such drugs usually do not enter into significant drug interactions due to the low content of active substances.
Storage conditions
When reviewing the instructions for use of the Selencin series cosmetics, you should also pay attention to the expiration date of each product used. This information should be indicated on the cardboard and inner packaging (container) of the cosmetics.
It should be noted that external use products do not lose their cleaning properties when stored under proper conditions (usually a temperature of 5 to 25 degrees is indicated). However, their medicinal properties may be significantly reduced, since plant extracts and some other components have a limited shelf life.
External products "Selencin" are recommended to be used within 2 years from the date of manufacture. As for the peptide lotion, after opening the ampoule, its shelf life is reduced by half (up to 1 year).
Homeopathic preparations "Selencin" are stored for 5 years at a temperature of 15-25 degrees. After the expiration date, they must be disposed of.

Analogues
Today, we have no shortage of hair cosmetics with the declared effect of strengthening hair along its entire length and preventing hair loss. But in most cases, the healing effect turns out to be just an advertising ploy.
The thing is that the loss of 50-125 hairs per day is not considered a pathology. This is a normal physiological process of hair replacement. Our skin cells are renewed according to the same scheme, which does not cause so much noise around itself.
How relevant is the problem of strengthening hair when hair loss is normal? Should you worry about it at all? Probably not. Strengthening shampoos, balms, lotions and masks are unlikely to noticeably affect the amount of hair lost if this is physiologically determined. And with pathological hair thinning, regular cosmetics with 1-2 really relevant active ingredients will not give the expected effect.
This requires a comprehensive approach that includes not only care, but also treatment of the scalp, where hair follicles are formed, i.e. the use of medicinal cosmetics in combination with internal treatment of the body, whether it is a disease or a deficiency of substances necessary for its vital activity. In this regard, Selencin hair cosmetics have an advantage over conventional care cosmetics.
When choosing analogues, you need to pay attention to the medicinal composition of the products. Minoxidil-based products have a therapeutic effect approved by trichologists: MinoMax lotion and shampoo, Regaine, SPECTRAL UHP 5% and Kirkland lotions for women, Revita shampoo for preventing baldness, Revivogen Combo complex for combating baldness, Generolon spray for men and women, Mexidi solution and some others. These products were developed in scientific and pharmaceutical laboratories specifically to combat alopecia, and not just for hair care.
But effective fight against such problem is impossible without affecting it from the inside. This is facilitated by taking balanced vitamin-mineral complexes, which are in the series "Selencin", "MinoMax" and some others. Some effect can also be given by brewer's yeast with additives that help strengthen hair.
In connection with alopecia, doctors may suggest the following vitamins for hair: Perfectil, Revalid, Pantovigar and their analogues.
"Perfectil" is a vitamin and mineral complex developed by British scientists for the treatment of dermatitis, acne and alopecia, changes in the condition of the skin and hair, and premature aging. It contains 11 vitamins, including biotin, pantothenic acid, vitamins E and C, group B, as well as 9 microelements, beta-carotene (a precursor of vitamin A), amino acids, burdock and echinacea extracts. All this wealth in strictly defined dosages is placed in capsules that should be taken daily, 1 piece after meals, for the period prescribed by the doctor.
But it is important to remember that the complex has certain contraindications, which in addition to hypersensitivity to the components of the drug include: hypervitaminosis caused by an excess of one or more vitamins included in the drug, severe renal failure, tuberculosis, leukemia, rheumatism, multiple sclerosis and some other pathologies, which can be read about in the instructions for the drug. The complex is not prescribed during pregnancy and lactation, and is not used in pediatrics.
In addition to allergic reactions, Perfectil can cause problems with the digestive system and neurological disorders.
"Revalid" is a multivitamin complex in capsules that contains amino acids, vitamins B1, B5, B6, microelements (zinc, iron, copper), yeast, wheat sprout extract. The complex is used to treat alopecia of various origins (often as part of complex therapy), with the exception of hormonal pathology, as well as in cases of disorders of the properties and structure of hair, skin, nails.
The drug is intended for the treatment of patients over 12 years of age, who should take 3-6 capsules per day depending on the severity of alopecia. The course of treatment is 1-3 months with the possibility of repeating the therapy.
The complex is not prescribed to pregnant women and nursing mothers, as well as people with hypersensitivity to the components of the drug. Side effects also include allergic reactions and mild neurological disorders.
"Pantovigar" is a capsule preparation with a more modest composition based on medicinal yeast, to which are added thiamine, pantothenic acid, two amino acids that improve the condition of the skin, and keratin, as the basis for the building material of hair. The complex is used for diffuse hair loss of non-hormonal origin, with damage to the structure of hair and nails.
The drug is intended for the treatment of adult patients. It should be taken three times a day, 1 capsule, for 3 months to six months.
The complex is not prescribed to children and nursing mothers, as well as people with allergic reactions to the components of the drug. During pregnancy, its use is possible according to indications only in the 3rd trimester.
May cause both allergic reactions and gastrointestinal symptoms.
As we can see, in addition to Selencin, there are other means that help fight alopecia, but not all of them are approved for use in childhood, during pregnancy and breastfeeding, and not all of them are as safe, having a minimum of contraindications and side effects.
