Contour plastic surgery of problem areas of the face and body is impossible without specific fillers.
The most popular fillers are those based on hyaluronic acid; such preparations are ideal for contour plastic surgery, since they have no serious contraindications, are not rejected and do not cause inflammatory processes typical of synthetic preparations.
Literally all correction tasks are solved with the help of various types of fillers, this includes contouring the oval of the face, correction of the shape of the nose, smoothing of nasolabial folds and many other tasks of restoring youth and beauty.

Contour plastic surgery with hyaluronic acid
HA - hyaluronic acid is considered the most popular and safe drug used in contour plastic surgery. The history of the appearance of hyaluronic acid-based products is interesting. A century and a half ago, the German doctor Neuber conducted peculiar experiments to improve the appearance of his patients; the doctor used donor material selected from the subcutaneous layers of the client himself. The results satisfied both the doctor and his desperate "guinea pigs". However, the process of obtaining the substance was both painful and not always safe. That is why the followers of the German cosmetologist began to look for a more effective drug implanted into the skin. As a result, a silicone-based gel appeared, first injected under the patient's skin in 1940, and then collagen-based drugs, but all these fillers gave many complications, the mildest of which were allergic reactions. As a separate drug, hyaluronic acid, or rather its chemical composition, was fully studied in 1950 in the German laboratory of Dr. Mayer. And only at the end of the last century, in 1995, cosmetologists added a truly miraculous remedy to their arsenal - fillers based on hyaluronates. Since then, contour plastic surgery with hyaluronic acid has become the most popular procedure in all beauty salons.
What is HA (hyaluronic acid)?
This is a specific gel-like substance that can fill intercellular voids, thus creating an even skin texture, providing its elasticity. HA of natural origin is produced by the body of any living being. With age, its production decreases, but modern medical technologies make it possible to compensate for the lack of acid by introducing fillers made on the basis of HA of synthetic or animal origin. Hyaluronic acid preparations are created using biotechnology. The human HA gene is introduced into the bacterial genome, the bacteria synthesize substances during their life process, from which they subsequently obtain a gel-like mass by cleaning it from toxins, which is actually hyaluronic acid, which is absolutely safe and compatible with the patient's body.
How does hyaluronic acid work in contour plastics?
Injected HA fills in defects, smoothes wrinkles, nourishes and significantly improves the appearance of the skin. After injection, the acid begins to gradually disintegrate under the influence of a specific enzyme and is eventually completely eliminated from the body in the form of liquid and carbon dioxide.
What are hyaluronic acid preparations used for in contour plastic surgery?
- Smoothing and filling of nasolabial folds.
- Neutralization of crow's feet around the eyes.
- Smoothing out wrinkles between the eyebrows.
- Alignment and filling of the nasolabial and nasolacrimal grooves.
- Injectable lip augmentation, including changing the contours of the mouth (lifting the corners).
- Neutralization of cheek wrinkles.
- Contouring of cheekbones, chin, cheeks.
- Filling of “marionette lines” - folds between the lower lip and chin.
- Filling the hollows on the temples.
- Upper eyelid and eyebrow lifting.
- Earlobe correction.
Hyaluronic acid based fillers are divided into 3 types:
- Viscous fillers that are used for dense skin and to fill in pronounced, deep wrinkles. The effect lasts up to one year.
- Medium viscosity fillers. Such preparations can be used to correct normal skin if wrinkles are moderately expressed. The effect lasts up to six months.
- Low viscosity preparations, they are used if the client has dry, sensitive skin, and wrinkles have just begun to appear. The result of the procedure lasts for 3-4 months.
Filler Restylane
Restylane is one of the first filler preparations, fillers based on hyaluronic acid, which was certified in the CIS countries. Today, contour plastics with Restylane fillers has a ten-year positive history with excellent results and customer reviews. The Restylane brand is legally assigned to the large pharmaceutical concern Galderma. This company specializes in the production of drugs for dermatology and cosmetology, and the "parents" of the company are the world-famous brands L'Oreal and Nestle. Galderma has currently opened its representative offices in 85 countries around the world, each of which presents all lines of unique dermatological preparations.
The direct development of Restylane was carried out by the Swedish center Q-Med, where non-animal components are used to produce HA (hyaluronic acid) using the unique patented NASHA™ technology.
The principle of action of contour plastic procedures with Restylane is as follows:
- Hyaluronic acid, injected under the skin, begins to attract fluid molecules found in the tissues.
- The attracted molecules begin to form elastic complexes and fill in skin defects, smoothing out wrinkles.
- The formed complexes activate the process of production of the body’s own collagen and elastin.
- After a certain period of time, the complexes, under the influence of natural enzymes, are broken down and completely eliminated from the body without causing harm.
Thus, the basis of Restylane - hyaluronic acid - demonstrates its unique ability to attract and retain fluid molecules in subcutaneous tissues, which ultimately provides a visible cosmetic and aesthetic effect.
Restylane is considered a safe drug, since it belongs to the group of biodegradable substances, that is, one that is excreted from the body naturally as it is broken down by natural enzymes. Due to this property, the hyaluronic acid-based filler is used to solve many aesthetic problems in dermatology, in addition, Restylane is a line of fillers that have differences in density depending on the area of their application. The criteria for choosing one or another type of Restylane are the depth of the defect (wrinkle), the characteristics of the tissue in the injection area, the age and specificity of the patient's skin.
Restylane contour plastic surgery - its types:
- Correction of medium depth wrinkles – Restylane.
- Fine, minor wrinkles on the surface of the skin - Restylane Touch.
- Pronounced, deep wrinkles - Restylane Perlane.
- Shaping of cheekbones, chin - Restylane SubQ.
- Lip shape correction, volume increase - Restylane Lipp, Restylane Lip Volume.
- Biorevitalization - Restylane Vital Light (alternatively - Restylane Vital).
- Neutralization of wrinkles in the corners of the mouth, around the lips - Lip Refresh.
All procedures are performed after preliminary external anesthesia, so they are absolutely painless. The hyaluronic acid filler is injected with the finest needles that leave no trace of the injection. If the skin problem requires repeated injection of Restylane, the doctor can prescribe the procedure 2 weeks after the first visit. The recovery, rehabilitation period after injections is not required, moreover, Restylane contour plastics are well combined with other cosmetic products, but it is advisable to prescribe the procedures 2-3 days after the filler injection.
The effectiveness and safety of using Restylane today does not require additional arguments, all the advantages of the drug are confirmed by tens of millions of successful procedures in 80 countries of the world. Improving the appearance, contouring, neutralizing wrinkles thanks to the unique filler Restylane are currently available to almost every woman, since the consumption of the drug is minimal, and the cost of the procedure is quite acceptable.
Filler Princess
In contour plastics, various types of fillers are used, they differ in consistency, but most often they are divided according to technological criteria. One of the most popular lines of drugs used in injection cosmetology are Princess fillers. Contour plastics with such fillers are considered the most effective and efficient.
Princess preparations are created using the unique SMART technology (Supreme Monophasic And Reticulated Technology) in the Austrian pharmaceutical holding CROMA. The unique technology is aimed at obtaining hyaluronic acid with special properties:
- CROMA's HA has specific cellular chains that are much longer than other types of hyaluronic acid.
- The substance obtained in the production process using SMART technology has a high level of homogenization.
- Hyaluronic acid has a specific consistency and dynamic viscosity.
The companies of the Austrian holding are known in the market of cosmetic products as manufacturers of high-quality, effective products for rejuvenation and elimination of skin defects. Princess fillers based on hyaluronic acid are used as framework substances in bioreinforcement, for biorevitalization, and also for solving the following problems:
- Neutralization of fine and deep wrinkles and creases.
- Increasing the elasticity and firmness of the skin in a given area.
- Correction and modeling of facial contours.
- Lip shape correction, lip augmentation.
- Reducing eyelid swelling, eliminating bags under the eyes.
The list of Princess preparations includes four types of fillers, each of which has its own concentration and is aimed at solving specific aesthetic problems.

The drug is naturally completely distributed in the selected area, it is absolutely compatible with the skin and subcutaneous tissue, the effect of Princess injection lasts up to 12 months.
Juvederm filler
Juvederm is a popular trade mark, under this name – Juvederm are known 6 types of fillers, which are successfully used in non-surgical methods of appearance correction. All Juvederm preparations, contour plastics with which have been carried out for years in hundreds of salons, are based on hyaluronic acid. The manufacturer of fillers is one of the most famous and largest corporations in the world – the American company Allergan, which is also known for its popular products, such as Botox preparations and Surgiderm fillers.
How does Juvederm work? Contour plastic surgery involves filling natural voids under wrinkles and creases, Juvederm fillers successfully perform this function. The preparations are based on hyaluronic acid, which is able to attract and retain liquid molecules located between tissue cells for a long time. The result of this action are stable compounds that effectively neutralize skin defects. HA (hyaluronic acid) in Allergan fillers is obtained only from non-animal material, and the unique 3D-Matrix technology, patented in the USA, makes the preparations truly effective: they have increased resistance to fermentation and are able to retain water molecules under the skin for 12 months.
Juvederm used in contour plastic surgery is divided into the following types:
- Gels with anesthetic components (lidocaine) - Juvederm Ultra.
- Gel for neutralizing fine superficial wrinkles - Juvederm Ultra 2.
- Filler for neutralizing wrinkles located at the medium depth level - Juvederm Ultra 3.
- Gel for eliminating deep, pronounced wrinkles, as well as for increasing lip volume and modeling the facial contour - Juvederm Ultra 4.
- The densest filler from the Juvederm line, designed for facial contouring, shaping cheekbones, and chin - Juvederm Voluma.
- The lightest filler, more similar to a weakly concentrated solution of hyaluronic acid for biorevitalization - Juvederm Hydrate.
- Fillers for lip shape correction and augmentation - Juvederm Volbella and Juvederm Smile.
All Juvederm products are compatible with each other, they are often combined in a number of contour plastic procedures, in addition, hyaluronic acid-based fillers undergo strict testing for hypoallergenicity and have an international certificate - FDA.
The advantages and relative disadvantages of Juvederm products are:
- Advantages:
- Production is based on biosynthesis technologies, meaning all fillers are of non-animal origin.
- High level of biocompatibility with skin cells, subcutaneous tissue, and soft tissues of the human body.
- Juvederm contour plastics products are used as highly concentrated fillers (24 mg per 1 ml), which provides an immediate visual effect.
- Using the Juvederm line guarantees a lasting result – from 12 to 24 months.
- What side effects may occur after the introduction of Juvederm fillers:
- Minor temporary swelling at the injection site, provided that the skin is highly sensitive.
- Small temporary seals in the correction area, which dissolve within 2-3 days.
- Contraindications to Juvederm filler injections may include the following conditions:
- Individual intolerance to preparations based on hyaluronic acid.
- Pregnancy and lactation period.
- All autoimmune diseases.
- Period of exacerbation of chronic diseases of internal organs and systems.
It should be noted that a small list of possible side effects is associated with the peculiarity of the drugs - they have a high concentration, that is, they contain an increased proportion of HA (hyaluronate). On the one hand, such fillers require attention and correctness in the appointment, on the other - it is the concentration that provides a long-term and stable result. Thus, temporary discomfort is fully compensated by an excellent appearance, the absence of wrinkles and a tightened oval of the face for at least one year.
Filler Radiesse
Procedures with Radiesse preparations are considered special. Radiesse contour plastics are injections of special fillers, unlike standard ones based on hyaluronic acid. Radiesse is a preparation created on the basis of calcium and phosphorus (calcium hydroxyapatite). These fillers are a suspension of CaHa in the form of a gel. The uniqueness of the technology is that after the introduction of the preparation, calcium and phosphorus compounds form a kind of matrix, near which new collagen fibers begin to form. Thus, there is a double effect on the defect - a wrinkle or a fold, at the same time the space in the tissues is filled and its own collagen fibers are formed, subsequently forming the missing volume. Since hydroxyapatite Ca (calcium) is considered a natural substance that is part of the bone, a volumizer (filler) based on it is completely compatible with the human body. Initially, the drug was intended specifically for dentistry, it was widely used in surgery, urology, dermatology as a correction of scars and cicatrices. Later, noticing the excellent results, the company created a separate brand - Radiesse, which became a real breakthrough in cosmetology.
More about the composition and properties of Radiesse:
- The preparation consists of tiny spheres of 30% CaH2O (calcium hydroxyapatite) located in a gel (70%).
- CaHa microspheres are made from microns of synthetic inorganic material similar to bone tissue.
- Calcium hydroxyapatite compounds in the form of microspheres all have the same shape and size, no more than 45 microns in diameter.
- Ca2 and phosphorus ions are natural components of bone tissue, so they are fully absorbed by the human body.
- The drug is not of animal origin, therefore it almost never causes allergic reactions.
Indications for the administration of Radiesse preparations:
- Shaping of cheekbones and cheek area.
- Vector lifting of the face oval.
- Formation and correction of the chin and lower jaw.
- Nose shape correction.
- Removal of wrinkles - mainly deep ones.
- Lip shape correction.
Radiesse contour plastic surgery is distinguished by the fact that the result obtained after the procedure lasts from one and a half to two years, unlike other fillers that biodegrade within six months. In addition, the preparations perfectly cope with skin problems, cosmetic defects in men. The skin of the stronger sex is much denser and heavier than that of women, so it is more difficult to correct with conventional fillers. It is Radiesse that allows you to eliminate deep wrinkles, loss of volume in the cheekbones (an androgynous defect), remove the so-called "jowls", correct the shape of the nose or chin.
The result after injections of the Radiesse volumizer is visible after a few minutes, after 4 weeks the effect may weaken, however, this does not mean that the drug has already been eliminated and is no longer effective. The rate of biodegradation of the filler is much lower than that of its "brothers" - fillers, but the gel as a transport medium is distributed in the tissues very quickly. While the gel is distributed, the formation of new connective tissue, collagen fibers begins, so a repeated procedure can only do harm. After 1.5-2 months, we can talk about the real, desired result, which lasts at least a year and a half, or even more (up to 2 years).
Contour correction with Radiesse also has contraindications, which include the following diseases and transient conditions:
- Acute form of any disease.
- Infectious diseases of the skin (herpes).
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding period.
- Diseases associated with blood clotting disorders.
Otherwise, all cosmetologists note the absolute biocompatibility of fillers and hypoallergenicity, the absence of signs of gel migration.
The drug is delivered to cosmetology clinics in sterile syringes, the package also contains a connector with the thinnest needles for injections. Radiesse is available in three types:
- Radiesse Extra - 0.3 mm syringe for correction of fine wrinkles and small areas.
- Radiesse in 0.8 mm syringes for eliminating medium-depth wrinkles.
- Large volume volumizer - 1.5 mm syringe for neutralizing deep, pronounced wrinkles, for treating large areas, for contour correction (volume contour plastic surgery).

Filler Voluma
Voluma is one of the new fillers produced by the famous French company CORNEAL. Voluma contour plastic surgery involves the introduction of a preparation produced on the basis of several types of hyaluronic acid of non-animal origin. The company CORNEAL already has experience in the production of effective volumizers, such as Juvederm and Surgiderm. As for Voluma, its uniqueness lies in the fact that the gel is very flexible and has an increased level of density, which allows you to correct serious defects in appearance without fear of filler migration in the deep layers of tissue.
In which areas does volume contouring work most effectively?
- Deep wrinkles in the nasolabial fold area.
- Shaping the cheekbones.
- Correction of the temporal zone.
- Contouring correction of cheeks.
- Correction of the shape of the chin and bridge of the nose.
- Correction of the nasolacrimal groove.
- Neck plastic surgery.
- Facelift.
Voluma fillers successfully replace implants used in surgical cosmetology, this is possible due to the increased density and concentration of the preparations and their ability to be evenly distributed in the problem area. In addition, after Voluma injections, the skin becomes smooth, its relief is leveled. The client can see the result literally in an hour and a half after the procedure, but the main rejuvenating effect is observed after the complete distribution of the filler after 14 days. The preparations are very resistant to natural fermentation, so the desired aesthetic result can last up to two years. Another advantage of contour correction using Voluma gel is the fact that during one session, a cosmetologist can correct several problem areas at once. A hyaluronic acid-based filler is most often injected subcutaneously, less often under the muscle into the tissue, but subcutaneous injections are preferable, since they are not capable of creating an undesirable effect of temporary contouring or filler migration.
In cosmetology practice, Voluma is used as a high-quality, homogeneous injection implant for volumetric plastic surgery, capable of defeating the natural age-related feature of the skin - gravitational ptosis. The result of the procedure is a visible correction of the face oval, neutralization of deep creases and wrinkles, an even, smooth relief of the skin.
