During the ongoing physiological process, the stratum corneum of the epidermis undergoes renewal. Usually, skin regeneration occurs unnoticed by the human eye, but under the influence of various external and internal factors, disorders occur in which dead cells stop peeling and accumulate on the surface, thereby creating a favorable environment for the reproduction of bacteria. This leads to the appearance of acne, inflammation of the skin, dullness, an unhealthy earthy appearance. Acids used in face creams are designed to help cleanse it, get rid of unnecessary cells, they also have a beneficial effect on accelerating metabolic processes, improving blood circulation and lymph flow.
Indications of facial acid creams
Creams with acids for the face are recommended for all people, but depending on the skin type and how problematic it is, various exfoliants are used - substances with the help of which cleansing occurs. The procedure is especially necessary for oily, dehydrated, with signs of acne, prematurely aging, pigmented. In addition to acids, creams can contain extracts of various medicinal herbs, oils.

Release form
Facial products containing acids are available in the form of creams, gel creams, and peeling creams.
Names
Creams with acids are day and night. In day creams, its concentration is usually lower, in night creams it is higher. This is explained by the fact that acids complicate the texture of creams, give them a more pronounced smell, making them more acceptable at night. It is best to use cosmetic brands that have lines for the production of creams with acids and are sold in pharmacies. These can be:
- 10% or 5% Glycolic Acid Cream (Reviva Labs);
- Avène Cleanance K;
- hyaluronic line Libriderm;
- Derma E Overnight Peel;
- Sleep and Peel (Filorga);
- Normaderm Total Mat (Vichy);
- Resist Skin Revealing Lotion with 10% AHA (Paula's Choice);
- Noctuelle with AHA fruit acids and vitamin C (Sothys);

Face creams with hyaluronic acid
Hyaluronic acid is the safest of all, as it is synthesized by the body itself. Manufactured using biotechnology, it is identical to the natural hyaluronate of the skin. This acid provides the epidermis with good hydration, enhances skin regeneration, refreshes it, and gives it a more youthful appearance. It can be used to prevent aging (most often it is recommended for use after 30 years) and to combat age-related changes. As a result of constant use, deep wrinkles become less pronounced, the contour of the face is tightened, and its color is evened out.
Face creams with fruit acids
Fruit or alpha-hydroxy acids are widely used in the manufacture of cosmetics and are designated by the abbreviation AHA. They include malic, grape, citric, lactic, and glycolic acids. Applying them to the skin of the face exfoliates dead cells, they have an antioxidant, rejuvenating effect, moisturize well, and relieve inflammation. Since ancient times, when there were no finished cosmetic products, women knew about their beneficial effect on the skin, so they used masks made of kefir, grape, lemon, and other fruit juices. According to legend, Cleopatra took milk baths. Depending on the concentration of acids, the functions of cosmetics are different: from moisturizing (less than 3%) to peeling (3-4%).
Glycolic Acid Creams for Face
Creams with glycolic acid for the face are positioned as anti-aging products, the function of which is to moisturize, nourish mature skin, exfoliate dead skin cells. They also have anti-inflammatory properties, so they are indicated for acne, acne, and various rashes. Creams with glycolic acid fight wrinkles, smooth out the skin's texture, restore its healthy color, eliminate pigment spots, promote the production of collagen and elastin, and the penetration of other useful substances deep into the skin. In nature, it is found in sugar cane, beets, and grapes. In retail chains, you can buy the following products with glycolic acid: Glyco-A peeling cream (Isis Pharma), Glycolit Acid day and night creams (Reviva Labs).
Creams with salicylic acid for face
The use of salicylic acid in cosmetology is due to its antibacterial properties. It fights acne, blackheads on the skin, excessive secretion of subcutaneous fat, is effective against pigment spots of various origins: age spots, those caused by solar radiation, freckles, nevi. Pure salicylic acid, sold in pharmacies, is suitable only for spot application to problem areas of the skin, but creams with it can be used for daily care of oily and combination skin. Because of its drying effect, those with dry skin can use it only 1-2 times a week to combat acne or prevent it. Examples of such cosmetics can be: Clerasil Ultra - a cream aimed at acne, its additional ingredients are plant extracts, polyhydroxy acids; "Clean Skin Active" (Garnier) moisturizing and tonal BB cream, etc.
Face creams with lactic acid
Lactic acid is formed during the souring and fermentation of milk, it is also present in sauerkraut. Like all fruit acids, it has an exfoliating effect, at the same time it is more gentle and soft, and its effect on the skin is more delicate. This makes it possible to use face creams with lactic acid for sensitive skin. Its action is determined by the ability to penetrate the sebaceous glands and remove plugs of keratinized cells from their mouths, thereby eliminating the possibility of comedones and various inflammations. In addition, it provides a skin moisturizing function, binding, retaining and evenly distributing moisture in the skin. It "works" not only in the superficial layers, but also in deeper ones - the dermis, due to which the production of hyaluronic acid is stimulated, faster skin regeneration and rejuvenation occur. Face creams with lactic acid are also effective in whitening age spots. They become less noticeable not only as a result of exfoliation, but also due to the lightening of the tyrosinava enzyme, which is involved in the synthesis of melanin. These products are less sensitive to ultraviolet radiation than other fruit acids, however, protective products are necessary during periods of active sun exposure. There are different percentages of lactic acid in cosmetic products: 10% is considered a low concentration, while 20-30% is considered high, which is suitable for aging and problematic skin. In this case, Sebum & Age Control cream (Premium Professional) can be used.
Face creams with azelaic acid
Azelaic acid has bacteriostatic activity against a number of bacteria, reduces the synthesis of fatty acids, preventing the formation of acne, comedones, blackheads, suppresses excessive formation of melanocytes that cause skin pigmentation. All these qualities are used in face creams with its participation. The dose present in the creams is small, which allows for long-term use. For tired skin, the night cream Sleep and Peel (Filorga) is suitable, it smoothes it out, gives a radiant look. To combat acne, "AkneStop", "AkneDerma", "Azelik" are intended. Before applying it, you need to cleanse the skin of dirt or cosmetics. Apply in the morning and evening until the problem disappears.
Face creams with mandelic acid
Mandelic acid is soft in its effect on the skin, so face creams with mandelic acid are quite suitable for dry sensitive skin. At the same time, it has bactericidal activity, exfoliating effect, getting into enlarged pores, it dissolves comedones, destroys the bonds between keratinized cells, ensuring their rapid regeneration. Delicate attitude to the epidermis is explained by the fact that mandelic acid molecules are larger than other fruit acids, so they are not able to penetrate deeply and irritate the skin, burn it or depigment it. Professional skin protection is promised by the Skin Clinic Professional line (Bielenda), its face care products include rejuvenating, moisturizing, corrective day and night creams containing 10% mandelic acid. Another cream is SEBO-ALMOND PEEL, night 5% and 10%, 1st and 2nd level of exfoliation, respectively.
Action of ANA acids
The stratum corneum consists of several dozen cells (up to 30) and ends with corneocytes - dead cells that do not have synthetic activity, but perform a very important function of regulating the water balance of the skin. The renewal of the epidermis occurs in cycles lasting 26-42 days and ends with the exfoliation of scales. Its violations are associated with both shortening of the cycle (in psoriasis) and with lengthening, which is characteristic of physiological aging. The action of creams with AHA acids for the face is based on the factor of acceleration of the cell cycle.
Use of facial acid creams during pregnancy
Each of the described acids has its own effect on the human body, so there is no single recommendation for use during pregnancy for all products. Thus, face creams with light acids: azelaic, almond, lactic are safe, because they do not penetrate into the deep layers of the skin and, if there is no damage to the face, will not harm the expectant mother and her child. However, their long-term use is undesirable. When choosing cosmetics during pregnancy, you need to carefully study the labels with a description of the composition in order to avoid negative effects on the body of the components of the creams.
Contraindications
Cosmetics containing acids have their own contraindications. Thus, creams with individual fruit acids (salicylic) are not suitable for hypersensitive skin. People with inflamed dermis, eczema, psoriasis, herpes virus infection, before or after invasive cosmetic procedures are generally prohibited from using them.

Side effects of facial acid creams
Creams with acids are very sensitive to ultraviolet radiation, so when using them when going outside on a sunny day, you must also use sunscreens with an SPF level of at least 30, otherwise pigment spots and redness may appear.

Interactions with other drugs
Creams with acids require a careful approach to other cosmetics. Simultaneous use of alcohol-based cosmetics (herbal tinctures), rough scrubs can harm the epidermis. They interact well with soothing, softening agents.
Reviews
Many women have positively assessed the effect of fruit acids in creams and other cosmetics. The reviews note a reduction in comedones and various rashes. Some did not fully achieve the desired result, but noticed positive dynamics. Not everyone was able to find their active substance (acid) the first time, which would satisfy their expectations.
