Retina angiopathy during pregnancy occurs in expectant mothers and initially, at the first pregnancy, and repeatedly, with the following expectations of the baby. In this case, you need to know that the disease is hypertensive, but does not appear until the sixth month of pregnancy. Almost all registered cases of the disease are in women in the ninth month of pregnancy.
Most often, the disease is due to existing toxicosis, as a complication of this condition. Although hypertensive patients risk vascular complications much more often and in more severe manifestations than with toxicosis.
So, with this disease in the retina of the pregnant woman's eye, the following changes occur:
- arteries narrow, and variably,
- the veins expand and twist,
- there is sclerosis, which affects the vessels of the retina, and in an uncharacteristic form,
- sometimes, but very rarely there are cases in which there is an obstruction of the lumen of the vessels.
After giving birth, almost always these symptoms pass without a trace, just as in cases of toxicosis therapy.
When pregnancy is contraindicated, all medications, so treatment involves the use of sparing methods of physiotherapy. And only in exceptional cases, when the state of the vessels of the eyes of a pregnant woman can affect the safety of her vision, drugs that improve blood circulation in the eyeballs can be prescribed.
Retina angiopathy and childbirth
With the natural resolution of pregnancy, there may be problems with the eyes of those women who were diagnosed with angiopathy. With the strain experienced by the mother, retinal vessels can burst, which will certainly cause a partial or complete loss of vision.
Therefore, retinal angiopathy in labor is an indication for conducting cesarean section, which will save the women's vessels, completely eliminating the burden on the eyes. Indication for this operation is the conclusion of an ophthalmologist, who will determine the degree of risk for a woman in natural childbirth.
This disease indicates that the vessels are not in order not only in the eye day, but in the entire body. After childbirth it is necessary to monitor the dynamics of the progression of the disease or for improving the condition. To do this, you can regularly visit an ophthalmologist and follow all his recommendations for improving the condition of the vessels of the eyes.
It should be noted that in many women the symptoms of angiopathy disappear immediately after birth or in a very short time after this event. If this does not happen, the ophthalmologist will definitely prescribe a course of therapy. It is important to know that the lactation period is a contraindication to taking very many medications. Therefore, the choice of medications for treatment should be as natural and sparing as possible, and more intensive therapy can be passed after the baby's time has come to give up the breast.
