Eye products, it would seem, should not raise questions. After all, every schoolchild knows that for good vision you need to eat carrots and blueberries, and the rest is a matter of genetics and following the rules when reading, using a computer, watching TV.
However, eating different foods affects not only visual acuity, but also other things related to the organs of vision.
What foods are good for your eyes?
Technical innovations and a sedentary lifestyle, unhealthy habits and environmental problems, stressful situations and overloads make the eyes and vision of each of us very vulnerable. Humanity as a whole is threatened not only by mass myopia or hyperopia - these defects are easily corrected with glasses and contact lenses. Our contemporaries are made difficult by glaucoma, cataracts, retinal detachment, macular degeneration and other unpleasant ailments fraught with complete loss of vision. But blindness is considered the most severe injury...
To avoid a bitter fate, it is necessary to take care of your eyes from childhood. Including by feeding them with "tasty things".
On the Internet you can find various lists of products that are good for the eyes: from six to ten or more. For example, this one:
- blueberry;
- carrots and parsley;
- pumpkin;
- onion, garlic;
- spinach and broccoli;
- fruits (green, orange);
- fish;
- cottage cheese;
- dark chocolate.
Healthy foods for the eyes, according to experts, are eggs, soy, green pepper in combination with other vegetables, sauces, seasonings. Some, however, believe that traditional blueberries and carrots are inferior to plant products of the green-yellow range. They contain many pigments that have a specific effect on the organ of vision. And carrots and blueberries actually have only a general positive effect.
Products for the retina
Among the products for the eyes, various nuts, especially walnuts, almonds, and pecans, occupy a place of honor. But the leader in this rating is considered to be the popular pistachios.
In addition to vegetable fats, fiber and minerals, pistachios are rich in the already mentioned lutein, as well as zeaxanthin. These substances are indispensable in the prevention of age-related muscle dystrophy of the fiber. It is enough to eat 30 g (a handful) of nuts daily.
Scientists have found that lutein (a "relative" of beta-carotene) accumulates in the retina. This protects against the development of cataracts and weakening of vision. A lot of the substance is found in lettuce, spinach, peas, leeks, yolks, and bell peppers.
It is also possible to protect the retina and eyes in general from the harmful effects of computer radiation. It is recommended to take regular breaks from work, give your vision a rest by moving away from your workplace. It is useful to look into the distance, at the sky, the horizon line, do special exercises for vision, etc. It is ideal to eat a carrot, an orange or drink juice during such breaks.
"Eye diet" requires regularity. You can't stock up on vitamins and everything useful for a week or a month in advance. Doctors emphasize that eye products are necessary in the daily diet of every person who wants to avoid vision problems.
Products for dark circles under the eyes
The problem of dark circles under the eyes is connected with the fact that the skin around the eyes has its own specifics. It is more delicate, almost without subcutaneous fat, and the outflow of blood and lymph here is difficult. This leads to the appearance of dark circles and/or bags.
Such defects have different causes. In addition to genetic predisposition, bags and bruises occur when:
- chronic lack of sleep;
- alcohol abuse and other bad habits;
- stress and overload;
- lack of vitamins and healthy fats.
If all is well with this, then bags and bruises can signal problems with the kidneys, liver, heart. Another diagnosis that is becoming the scourge of civilization – chronic fatigue syndrome, is also accompanied by such symptoms.
Is it possible to influence under-eye defects with the help of a properly selected diet? Yes, - nutritionists answer. A balanced diet will reduce the problem by at least half. A few simple tips:
- Replace spicy and smoked foods with fruits and fatty fish. Fortify your lunch with citrus fruits, stone fruits, bananas, kiwi, and persimmon.
- Eat small dinner portions and drink even less at night.
- Increase your consumption of sea fish and reduce your salt intake.
- Drink one and a half to two liters of quality water during the day.
- Avoid sudden weight fluctuations.
- Take multivitamins during the off-season.
These tips are not for one day; but the result of regular use of healthy eye products will be an attractive and always fresh face.

Don't get hung up on individual products. Healthy eating is not based on scarcity, but on variety, tasty and usefully selected ingredients, their high quality and usefulness.
Of course, the condition of the eyes and the clarity of vision depend not only on nutrition, no matter how super-correct it may be. In many situations, medication or surgical treatment is provided.
