Using the method of calculating "dangerous days" as contraception, it is necessary to take into account the irregularity of menstruation. Failures are possible as a result of overwork, the change of time zones, hormonal disorders, etc. Also little is known about the survivability of spermatozoa up to eight days, so intimate affinity on the fourth or fifth day of the cycle with subsequent ovulation after seven to ten days increases the likelihood of pregnancy during menstruation.
Normally, the female cycle has a duration of 21-35 days and is divided into two phases:
- preparatory before fertilization, characterized by active production of follicle-stimulating and luteinizing hormone;
- ovulation.
Ideal is when both phases last the same number of days. For example, with a 28-day cycle, each phase is given 14 days. An important aspect is the regularity of the monthly cycle (a difference of three days is allowed). The exception will be girls under eighteen years old, whose cycle has not yet been established.
It is believed that only on the first day of menstruation, pregnancy does not occur because of the outward release of the dead egg. The rest of the days should remain vigilant and think about reliable ways to prevent unwanted pregnancies.
Possibility of pregnancy during menstruation
Maturation of the egg can occur before the term, and the life span of the sperm after sexual intercourse is up to seven to eight days. Based on these data and the presence of a menstrual failure in a woman, it makes possible conception a few days after sex on the fifth or sixth day of menstruation. A special group of risk is made up of representatives of the fair sex with an irregular cycle, its abrupt changes (lengthening / shortening). The first days of menstruation are considered the safest.
Simultaneous ripening of two eggs in one cycle increases the possibility of pregnancy during menstruation. Such a rare phenomenon is characteristic of young girls at a hormonal peak due to a strong orgasm, individual characteristics of the body, as a result of a hereditary factor.
There were situations when bleeding due to stress, cervical injury was confused with menstruation, and conception occurred. Doctors recommend to be protected all the days of the cycle, and the use of a condom during the menstrual period will protect the uterus from the penetration of pathogens.
It should be remembered that monthly during pregnancy is not the norm. At the very least, the appearance of blood signals a hormonal imbalance, and as a maximum - heralds a spontaneous abortion. Do not delay visiting a gynecologist. With timely treatment it is possible to keep the desired pregnancy and give birth to a healthy baby.
