Extragenital diseases of the mother are one of the most common causes of premature termination of pregnancy. The high-risk group for miscarriage primarily consists of women with cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, chronic kidney, liver, and intestinal diseases.

Habitual miscarriage is closely associated with autoimmune diseases - systemic lupus erythematosus, first of all.

Disorders in the hemostasis system, congenital and acquired, are associated not only with pregnancy loss, but also with high maternal mortality due to thrombophilic complications: antiphospholipid syndrome, hereditary hemostasis defects, hyperhomocysteinemia, thrombocythemia, etc.

Such maternal diseases as insulin-dependent diabetes, hypofunction and hyperfunction of the thyroid gland, phenylketonuria in the mother, severe forms of myasthenia, multiple sclerosis, and significant obesity are associated with an unfavorable course of pregnancy and its unfavorable outcomes in terms of miscarriage and frequent developmental anomalies in the fetus.

Premature termination of pregnancy in extragenital pathology is facilitated by significant changes in the mother's body, metabolic disorders and pregnancy complications that accompany extragenital pathology. Vascular disorders, hypoxia, often lead to loss of pregnancy in pathology in the mother, and pharmacotherapy of the main diseases of the mother (iatrogenic effects) often contributes.
