Heels have always given grace and elegance to women. From the height of the heel, a woman has conquered more than one throne and more than one "emperor". We are used to looking 100%, otherwise we will not be women. But then the moment has come when we are expecting our child. So what now? Do we really have to give up everything we love so much and turn into a gray and nondescript bun? Dear ladies, we advise everyone to calm down, because the verdict is not fatal and not so categorical.
Is it okay to wear heels during pregnancy?
Wearing heels in itself cannot be called safe even for a completely healthy woman or a girl who is not planning to conceive a child. The whole problem is that by putting our foot on a high heel, we change the center of gravity of our body and add an extra bend in the spine. Subsequently, this can lead to a curvature of the same spine and a possible displacement of the internal organs located along it. Plus, since now we rest on the ground not with our entire foot, but only with our toes, we significantly increase the load on our legs. Frequent loads on the legs, which heels greatly contribute to, can lead to the development of a number of diseases, such as varicose veins or flat feet. As we can see, even for a woman who is not pregnant, wearing heels can entail a number of problems.
A pregnant woman is already at high risk of developing flat feet and varicose veins due to hormonal changes. And wearing heels can only worsen the situation and lead to a number of other complications. Such troubles include, first of all, injuries that a woman can get due to instability of the foot. Sprains and dislocations received during pregnancy are more difficult and take longer to treat, and are also accompanied by swelling. If a woman wears heels during pregnancy, she increases her chances of getting hated stretch marks. Heels lead to a shift in the center of gravity, and in order to correct the situation and maintain a stable body position, the stomach protrudes forward, and the abdominal muscles, under the influence of the developing child and heels, begin to sag significantly, which leads to stretch marks and possible displacement of the fetus itself. In the event of a fetal displacement during its development, the woman will not be able to give birth on her own and will have to do a cesarean section. Well, and to conclude the overall picture, it is worth mentioning that strong muscle tension and increased load on the legs can also lead to an increase in the tone of the uterus, which is fraught with miscarriage or premature birth. This is why doctors strongly advise against wearing heels during pregnancy.
The solution has been found! How to wear heels during pregnancy?
Having read all the warnings, you should not panic once again and run to the store for new flat-soled ballet flats. The whole problem is that even absolutely flat soles are harmful to the health of a pregnant woman and her baby, as they lead to the widening of the foot and the development of flat feet. Accordingly, it is necessary to find a golden mean. The ideal solution would be shoes with a stable small heel or a platform no more than 5 centimeters high.
If we are talking about the early stages of pregnancy, then there are cases when you can wear high-heeled shoes without harm to the expectant mother and baby. In order for heels not to harm in the early stages of bearing a child, you should follow simple recommendations. First, try to limit walking in high heels to 2-3 hours. After this, your feet need to rest. It is better to choose shoes half a size larger and with a fastener around the ankle - this will give more freedom to the foot, but also fix it well in the shoe. After taking off the heels, do some gymnastic exercises for the legs: draw numbers and letters with your feet in the air, walk on tiptoes or heels, simply massage your feet, etc. This will restore your legs well after exercise and normalize blood circulation in the legs. A contrast shower for the feet is also good for these purposes.
Follow the recommendations, and you will be able to wear heels during pregnancy without complications and consequences. After all, nothing else gives a woman self-confidence and grace like a stable heel.
