To the child of 9 days - what small term of a life. And how much time the child comprehends in this time! Doctors believe that the birth of a child on load can be compared with going into outer space. And all because for the child our world is a completely new environment, to which it must adapt in the shortest possible time. What happens to the child in these 9 days and how will it develop further?
Adapt the baby to a new environment
At 9 days the child has already passed most of the processes that give him the opportunity to adapt to new life circumstances. The child cried for the first time, he began to breathe in a different way, he now had the ability to defecate, which had not existed before. His skin gradually turns pink and is no longer as bright red as it was at birth.
At 9 days the child has already little (but not completely) weaned from the state of weightlessness that he had in his mother's belly. In addition, in his mother's belly, he had the same temperature regime and roughly the same intensity of oxygen supply. And now, when the kid got into unusual conditions for himself, on the ninth day of his life he can react painfully to temperature changes. Smells, loud sounds. The most intensive adaptation in a child takes place in the first 4 weeks. Physicians call this period the most important and crucial in the life of the baby.
How to eat properly in 9 days?
Usually kids at this age feed on mother's milk. But it happens that the mother is losing milk, and from the first days of life the baby eats artificially. How to calculate the amount of milk that a child should eat in the first 9 days after birth? It is necessary to multiply the number of days that the baby lived by 70 - if the child's weight at birth was up to 4 kg and multiplied by 80 if his weight exceeded 4-4.5 kg. This will be the daily volume of the mixture in grams for the first two weeks of feeding.
Infant Risk Group
The first week of life is a very important period in the life of the baby. The load can be too high for him, and therefore in the first 7-9 days the baby may show signs of various diseases. As the statistics show, absolutely healthy children are born only 12-15 percent. All other doctors observe certain deviations, some during childbirth, some after them. For weaker children, the process of adaptation to the outside world is much more difficult and longer. Such children should be observed by the doctor, the mother should treat them more closely.
In addition, for a weak baby should be strengthened care. If he is inclined to different diseases, the father should help his mother cope with the first days after childbirth. The house must be permanently cleaned, clean, the rooms aired, the air temperature should be a maximum of 20-22 degrees in the daytime and 18-20 degrees at night. Baby clothes should be washed and ironed on both sides to avoid infection.
The most important thing in the first 9 days of a child's life
The one without which there can not exist a child and in general any person is food. It is vitally important for a child to establish proper nutrition in the first week or two. That is - feeding mother's milk. At mum in the first month of a life of the child milk increases in leaps and bounds. In the first week or two, it may not be enough. But with proper decantation, milk arrives. If milk is not enough, my mother should consult a doctor about stimulating lactation.
There are two types of feeding a child. On demand - when the child is hungry, and every three hours, as doctors recommend. That is, feeding at 06.00, 09.00, 12.00 and so on until 00.00. Before the last feeding the child is usually bathed and laid to sleep.
What did moms not know about feeding yet?
The first way - feeding the baby on demand - is good because he can eat when he wants. But for the mother, this method can be uncomfortable, since the child can then ask for milk often, then do not eat, and also overeat. From this, the baby may have a stomachache and problems with bowel movements. The mother herself with free feeding can become very tired, there is no clear schedule, and she can develop mastitis if she does not express the milk in time.
The second method - feeding every three hours - helps the child to develop a clear rhythm of work of the gastrointestinal tract, and my mother - to adapt to the new schedule. In addition, with a clear rhythm of lactation, mom evenly comes to milk. It is important for mother to know that if a child is asleep at 9 days old and is a bit late for feeding, he can be allowed a delay of about a quarter of an hour. If a child at 9 days wants to eat a quarter of an hour earlier and screams for food, his mother can feed him, do not refuse food.
Feed the baby, too, should be right. If the child can not properly take the nipple in his mouth, the mother should put it in the right angle. And after feeding the baby it is desirable to hold it upright so that it does not regurgitate the milk back.
What are the possible problems with feeding?
In the first 10 minutes, a baby in 9 days can suck milk the most. And then he sucks no longer so intensely. Therefore, mother should not hold the baby for a whole hour. 15 minutes for one breast and 10-15 minutes for the other will be more than enough for the child to ate.
However, the child in 9 days can still be very weak, in order to properly suck a sufficient amount of milk. He can suck a little and then fall asleep. If this happens, you do not need to wake the child and feed him again - it negatively affects his nervous system. In addition, under such circumstances, the rhythm of breastfeeding is lost.
Mom should know that a child in 9 days should suck up to 80 milliliters of milk for one feeding, while eating up to 7 times a day. And already for 4-5th week the amount of food for 1 time can be increased to 130 ml per day - maximum.
Quality of milk for a young child
That the baby in 9 days did not suffer from pains in a tummy, mum it is necessary to avoid fat, sharp, and also products which can cause an allergy. It can be canned, citrus, garlic and onions (they change not only the taste, but also the smell of breast milk). Cabbage and legumes can also have a negative effect on the child's gastrointestinal tract. Cabbage causes swelling, and beans can provoke gases. Eggs should also be eaten carefully, if neither mother nor baby has any allergies.
It is very good if the nursing mother drinks milk and eats cottage cheese - a child and she needs calcium. Very good in the menu cutlets, steamed, and vegetables with fruit. Of fruits in the diet of a nursing mother are useful bananas, apples. Meat should be alternated with fish, only not greasy. Then the milk will be saturated with substances useful for the mother and child, vitamins and minerals.
Vitamins and minerals for an infant
The baby takes all useful substances from the milk of the mother in 9 months. Therefore, on the recommendation of a doctor in the diet of the mother can include not only food, but also pharmacy vitamins. Vitamins for a nursing mother on the recommendation of a doctor should be drunk in courses for 2-3 weeks, 1 week break.
To have enough milk for her mother, she needs to drink plenty of fluids, including warm teas with nettles, dill, anise. It is also proved that the influx of milk from the mother increases the good mood and caring embrace of her husband.
Drinking water for baby
In the first month of a child's life, he can already give not only mother's milk, but also water. It should be boiled and purified. If children get enough milk, they may not want to drink water. Then do not force the child to drink. In no case should the baby be given water without boiling, because it may contain chlorine, heavy metal salts, dirt from water pipes. A child can be poisoned by these substances, so you need to be careful during feeding.
Your child is 9 days old? So, he has already been discharged from the hospital and is at home. And on how closely the parents will react to his needs, all of his further development depends.
